I'm surprised that no one on AFF has mentioned Tiger Woods. I thought it was none of my business but the news keeps avalanching in a negative direction. Tiger is up to 10 mistresses. Does this change your view of him. Are you less a fan of his because of these indescretions?
yesterday I read his wife moved out of his house and today I read a woman was hospitalized from his home. Could be his wife Elin or his mother in law. Where is all this going to end? will his sponsors dump him?

Are you kidding? I've been barking my butt off on the "More Jokes" thread. I'm heartbroken for him and I'm more heartbroken that the reaction is joking and not sorrow. Personally, I will still root for him just like I always have. He's been my favorite golfer since he won his first US Amateur in 1994. My prayer for him is that he finds a place of grace in Christ and that he and his family are able to recover from this awful mess.

I think fans of tiger woods should have an opinion on how he leads his personal life. It could diminish his standing in the eyes of many.

Like they say, its the ones you least expect. I do predict he will lose some sponsers but not all. His behavior is more wide spread than most would admit, he just got caught.

I will say this and leave it alone. Tiger has made more money making his life public than he has through golf, for him to suddenly claim privacy is a joke. When you market yourself you should know that privacy is no longer an option.

I do have an opinion, but if we start digging into the personal lives of actors, singers, and athletes, we'll have to eliminate 98% of the entertainment portion of our lives.

I disagree. Most actors lives are up for scrutiny by the tabloid press and it does affect my choice in entertainment. I personally would not watch a Linsey Lohan movie, Ellen Degeneres, Rosie Odonell or other gay entertainers. I used to be an Adam Lambert fan but after his performance at the awards show, I'm through with him.
Personal lives do matter in our choice of entertainment.

Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.
Old tigger is just finding out it is payback time for all his indescretions.
Hmmmm... 10 mistresses, that we know of,.....
Yep, Be sure your sins will find you out!
Feel sorry for him? Only as much sorrow as I would feel for any sinner wrapped up in sin. He is not nor ever has been my hero. My hero's come from the Bible.
Tiger needs to repent, get Baptized in Jesus name, and recieve the beautiful gift of the Holy Ghost.
He might even have to do as the rich young ruler, ....
Take, sell all that you have, give to the poor and come and follow Jesus.
Mat 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

I hope his wife takes the $300 million and kicks him to the curb.
If a man or woman has one affair, work it out. Seek help and try to keep the marriage together. A second affair ... tougher, but better to try and work out and keep the family together.
Ten separate affairs ... not a chance to save anything. The marriage is over because of Woods himself. He's completely (and publicly) humiliated, dishonored and disrespected her. He obviously views the vows he took as a complete joke.
But now he's sorry ... because he got caught. His sorrow and repentence is only there because of being caught. Had that not happened, it would be business as usual. The proof of this is the voicemail that was released where he called one of his *ahem* homewreckers (to be nice; another word or two comes to mind but will not be mentioned) to beg her to remove her name from her voicemail because his wife went thru his phone and got her number.
Had Woods truely been sorry, that would not have happened. It did, he isn't and the list will likely only get bigger.
His wife should have her and the kids checked for an STD, especially since one of the homewreckers is a porn star.
Disgusting. Woods may be a good golfer, but nothing else. I hope his sponsors change their minds and dump him. He's not a role model for a company or product.

Amazing how many opinions are out there.
Tiger has sinned. If he were a man in my church, I'd pray that everything worked itself out, that the situation would have room for healing. It's true that the cost of fame involves privacy, but there's a point of that being reasonable. He is still a human. Rich people and poor people are both human. As a Christian community, we should be expected to spearhead giving this family privacy. That doesn't mean we have to pick sides. The wife is hurt. The family is hurt and Tiger is swallowing guilt at a time when most families are decorating for Christmas. Let them be. The press will go on with this as much as they can. I hope he goes on Oprah and has a chat, because that will really let the wind out of some of the media's sails.
Examine your own home. Pray for Tiger's.

All of this points to the fact that CHARACTER means something. And the lack of it or the loss of it is tragic in anyone's life. Repercussions are inevitable. The more familiar and known a person is, the worse they are. Someone has said that when the mighty cedars of Lebanon fall, all the saplings get crushed underneath. I have never rejoiced in the fall of anyone. (joked, yes, rejoiced, no) However, if you don't want your "private" failures known, do not become a public person...because the truth of the matter is that when you become a public person, there is no such thing as privacy. Like it or not, that's the way it is! :D

We can say "that's the way it is" or we can say "that's the way it should be." The fact is, Americans are nosey and curious about their celebrities. Yes, this is part of the glitz and glamour life, but we still have a duty to behave as human beings, and realize that the non-celebrity children, the the human heart of his wife, as well as the non-golfer, Tiger Woods (the man) are just like you and I.
We can say abortion is "just the way it is" but you will find no agreement (hopefully) on AFF for abortion. It's not what the condition of things are, it's what things should be that push us forward as a society.
The cat is out of the bag. That's expected. But now it's time to let the Woods Family deal with this pain, without putting our judgemental, pointing fingers on the surface of their glass house.

LOL That was a genuine question, not a comment. I'm wondering if all of the women being discussed have been from relationships since his marriage.
As to the victimization, I don't believe any of them are victims...and yes, there will be a money-grab now...it's the American way.

The victim here is Woods' wife and children. Woods and the women should be subject to the same public shame and embarassment as his wife and children have and will continue to endure.
The $300 million divorce settlement should help with the moving on, but the emotional and psychological baggage will remain for a long time.

The day this was leaked, Tiger experienced shamed.
I pray things can be reconciled, though realizing how nearly impossible that might be.
Either way, I'm not into the "shame game," as if it's my individual responsibility to make sure justice is done to Tiger. Just doesn't sound merciful to me. He will be dealing with the consequences of his actions for years to come. Time for the peanut gallery to fade out black.

Public shame to Woods is equivalent to public shame for his wife and children. Again, the man's behavior is reprehensible, but when your family is under the public microscope, it makes it nearly impossible to set right.
It was like the Britney Spear's fiasco a couple of years ago--already a pitiful mess, and the media made it 10x worse.

Thank God for mulligans called grace.

Have you experienced or had to live with the aftermath of an affair?
In regards to marriage, he deserves losing his wife and $300 million. He made the choice every time, and who knows how many times for how long with each of the 10.
In regards to business, he deserves to lose his sponsorships and money as role model for these companies.

What do you deserve?
Are you claiming these 10 women as a fact? Judge, jury and executionary aren't you.
Amazing that you are in a position to mete out justice. Sure, I'll agree, any man who has an affair deserves to lose his family. I just pray that doesn't have to happen. If it does, she has every right under the law (both God's and ours). As a Christian, I think I can be more productive pointing out my own shortcomings, rather than actually getting emotionally involved in delivering justice to Tiger Woods.

I'll bow out of the discussion with this ... until you've personally had to live and deal with the aftermath of infidelity, you can talk with a more-righteous-than-you attitude ... but it means absolutely nothing.
I don't claim the 10 as fact. Were anyone to ask, I'd submit that a few, if not several of them, are probably lying as a sick way to get attention and their "15 minutes of fame."
I'm not meting out justice. I'm just giving my opinion. You gave yours, I'm giving mine. You don't like it, fine. But don't try to get all righteous and holier than thou with me because my opinion is different than yours. Apparently your still seeing the world through this hurt.
Please make no assumptions that my life has not been affected by infidelity. Quite the opposite. This wasn't a matter of opinion, as if "tiger is right or wrong" but a gauge of the venom you had toward him to "make sure he gets what he deserves." Yes, at the end of the day, it's just my opinion weighted against yours. I'd say I have stronger support in this situation than my opinion, but you'd accuse me of being "righteous."
I'm no more righteous than you, and that's probably why I'm slow to throw stones at Tiger. What he did was absolutely wrong. Now let's get out of his glass house, and install some mirrors on the walls of our own home.

Gatorade and other sponsors don't have enough black superstars? Really? I think the real question is do they have any white superstars they use?

Wonder what I could make if I claimed an affair with Tiger?
That reminds me of Jay Leno joking about Ann Nicole Smith several years ago concerning her short marriage to her billionaire, 89 year old, husband; "For that amount of money "I" would have married him! I would just lay awake every night thinking 'It will be over soon... It will be over soon....'!".

:confused:Ummm Adam Lambert was a homosexual before American Idol and the music awards. So how then can you make the proceeding comment "I personally would not watch ....... or other gay entertainers"? Clearly you have no problem with homosexual entertainers, according to your statement. If you did why did it take a vulgar moves for you to tune him out?
As for T. Woods, one would think that he would be concerned with STD's (whether he slept with 1 or 10 women). I hope he is able to mend things with his family. I think people have to ask themselves the question if they liked T. Woods because of his athletic abilities or his personal life. Because in all honesty, those who say it was because of his personal life, are just fooling themselves. They clearly had no clue about his personal life.

Not sure whether or not you proclaim to be a child of God, but clearly your statement is not that becoming of a child of God. Don't speak for an entire ethnicity of people and paint them as racist and respecters of persons. Your statement has been said in reverse by those (not on this forum) that proclaim White females prey on Black athletes. Both ideologies are equally offensive. You clearly are in need of deliverance from some extremely warped ideologies. You later state that you said this to move the thread along. The only thing that you have moved along is that you have shown the users of AFF that you are spiritually deficient.

The supposed "explanation post" (#70) made no sense, but this post easily has to be the worst post in the history of AFF, and just maybe, the internet.
But in all the tabloid coverage and the public's incurable appetite for more details, and among all the jokes, we all seem to forget to very important people in all this.....two people named "Sam" and "Charlie." Those are the two children. The more TMZ and OMG and others, go after more names and mistresses, the more his reputation goes in the tank, not only with the public, but with his children someday that will need to love and respect their dad.
I know, I know.....he "did the crime". We all know that. But do his children deserve for him to have....as Jeffrey called it.....a mulligan called "grace"? I absolutely believe so.
Is his reputation with the public beyond repair? I doubt it. As soon as he starts winning golf tournaments again, Gatorade, AmEx, Nike, Gillette, etc., will all love him again. And so will we...the majority, anyway. But when Sam and Charlie someday learn how to use the internet, will his reputation be salvageable? I think that's a question worth pondering.

He has not protected himself in any way here at all (text messages, possibly pictures, voicemails, trips around the world). The eeeeeevil FoxNews.com is reporting Woods and wife will be leaving the country soon, possibly moving to a private island near Sweden.
The article also states that the couple and wife's family want to keep the couple together ... "for the sake of the kids."
Everyone together ..... "Awwwwww." Let's not worry about honoring the vows we took. Who cares about being faithful to one lady who's given him two children and, that we know of, has been faithful and supportive while he goes around the world playing golf and sleeping around.
Let's do it for the kids.
I know some will likely protest my next statement, don't bother ...
Woods' wife knows what he is and that he can't be trusted. If she chooses to stay with him and not get divorced, so be it. She's either incredibly forgiving and saintly ... or just incredibly stupid and naive. Either way, she knows. And when, in the future, he goes out and sleeps with more women ... she has no reason to cry and expect sympathy because she knows.
Just as if Rhianna would have gone back to Chris Brown after he used her for a boxing bag; and just as every other women who goes back to either unfaithful or abusive spouses ... anything that happens after they go back is on them. They know what they're doing, who they're getting involved with. They have the power to change and leave the situation, but don't.
I have a hard time giving sympathy a second time around...because they knew.
So best of luck to Woods and Elin, I honestly do hope it works out with them; that he does make a change and becomes a faithful husband and good father; that she's able to forgive and trust him again; and that they have a long-lasting marriage.

It is amazing how often the pure become defiled and the defiled become pure. The prodigal son was awful but in the end, he was celebrated and fussed over, while the older son, who had been perfectly behaved, was condemned.
The Pharisee and the sinner stood together. The Pharisee was pure, the sinner was sinful. But it was the sinner who went away justified.
In the end, if Tiger comes clean and straightens up his act, it could very well be the same again....he will be pure and the stone-throwers will be defiled.
How one could ever say, "That could never be me" is beyond me. Yes, if I were in Tiger's shoes, maybe I would "sleep around with skanky"......however it was that you described it. And yes, for anyone to say, "I would never" is scary to me.

It doesn't take a porn star to get a disease - - it could be a beautiful women sitting in church right a few rows ahead of you. Whoever she's slept with could have given something to her. If you like your health and body too much to abuse, then stay monogamous period.

Uhhhh...I think expecting your spouse to remain 100% faithful is a reasonable expectation. The way your post is worded, it sounds like you don't think anyone can remain faithful to their marriage!
Yes I expected it from my spouse!! But when she wasnt I didnt throw her away like an old shoe!! When she wasnt again and yet again I still did not throw her away! I came to the realization along with her that she had some severe issues and was later diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. If I had given up on her it would have torn an otherwise very good family apart! My point is we are the bride of Christ and we repeatedly fail to remain perfectly without sin. We are to forgive 7 times 70 which I was taught was infinetly. But even if it is 490 times would you be willing to forgive your spouse for that many indescretions??!!!

On a related note, I would like to thank Rush Limbaugh for thinking and speaking for me:
If you believe Rush Limbaugh, African-Americans are suffering from a collective malaise brought on by anger at President Obama's economic policies -- and the white women of the Tiger Woods scandal.
On Tuesday's edition of "The Rush Limbaugh Show," the right-wing radio firebrand sounded off on "the black frame of mind" and the disappointment he claims the African-American community feels toward the Obama presidency.
"The black frame of mind is terrible. They're depressed. They're down -- Obama's not doing anything for 'em. How is that hoax and change workin' for ya? They're all livid," Limbaugh said.
Blacks are "upset" and "feel abandoned" by Obama and, he added, "I'm sure Tiger Woods' choice of females [is] not helping 'em out with their attitudes there, either."

Stew,
What about the comments that Black American radio host, Tom Joyner has so say about Tiger, which is also cited in the linked article you posted.
On the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner radio show, Woods was the butt of jokes all week.
"Thankfully, Tiger, you didn't marry a black woman. Because if a sister caught you running around with a bunch of white hoochie-mamas," one parody suggests in song, she would have castrated him.
"The Grinch's Theme Song" didn't stop there: "The question everyone in America wants to ask you is, how many white women does one brother waaant?"

"This makes Woods himself one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Thai, one-quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch.[14] He refers to his ethnic make-up as “Cablinasian” (a syllabic abbreviation he coined from Caucasian, Black, (American) Indian, and Asian).[15]"

Seriously, I did not see anything that would suggest that Limbaugh was responding in anyway to a joke on a comedy morning show. Either way, to say what he said about the "black frame of mind" is offensive to me personally, and not the frame of mind of the many black people that I know. I guess, however, since there is apparently one frame of mind for all of us, we just need to get in line :)

That's because you are not prejudice because you are a true Christian in your heart. I know a whole lot of black people that are prejudice.
My daughter had a friend, when she was in High School, and the girl had a black boyfriend. They were both going to run by his house and when my daughter got out of the car - blonde hair, blue eyes - the sisters on the front porch were NOT happy she showed up. The average black person is not truly bent out of shape about Tiger's choice of women whether Rush believes it or not. People are certainly not depressed about it. I don't see anyone's attitude being affected by it.
Truth be told, there are probably more white people who get truly bent out of shape when they see beautiful, young white women with a multi-ethnic Tiger, than black people who get truly upset at a multi-ethnic Tiger with white or other women.

I agree that there are many black women who don't like to see that, but to say depressed and other strong feelings is overstating it in my opinion. When it comes to having strong aversion to it, you have quite a few on the extreme side of white America who are almost sickened by the sight of a black man with a white woman.
I'm just saying that painting this broad brush stroke as to how this is affecting "the black mind" is just as wrong as using what I said to broad brush how "the white mind" is affected by this.

Ferd, I hear ya, but I think this speaks for itself...and speaks volumes.
At some point I think people are going to have to recognize that at least some of the criticism leveled at Rush when it comes to matters of race and race-baiting are warranted.
All I am saying is the quote picks up in the middle of a paragraph. One that is taking shots at the liberal elites who use race as a political weapon in general and Jessie Jackson in particular.
When he says that he is projecting their view of this "black frame of mind" not his own.

I think alot have some level of resentment even if a small amount. Most do not get depressed or overreact over it but to some degree it's in most, IMO. I stress IMO.
Most men don't have problem with women of other races. Climax of racism is from man to man of races. Men generally find women of all cultures attractive, if attractive, that is. Even the ones vocal about not mixing races, kinda wierd. The pride of a culture/race is their women and some don't like seeing a man of another race with "their women".
My wife and I have had more problems from black men then whites. But she is a knock out, so it makes a difference. :thumbsup When we were discriminated against for housing it wasn't from a white person.
But this goes back to not using the broad brush as you stated. No longer can we say whites do such and such or blacks do such and such. Some maybe.

I'm just saying that in my opinion, he and Jesse are too sides of the same coin. They both at times use race, fear related to race, and ridiculous generalities as tools to tap into the fear, resentment, or indignation of their audiences.
I'll read the transcript in its entirety and see if that would make me read these paragraphs any differently.

This is true, stew. And it makes some people hesitate to state opinions for fear of offending someone. But then there are those that like to offend, including all races.

Stew, I listened to the clip and I know it is hard to believe but what he said and what he was talking about isn’t exactly what is being reported....
He first played a clip of Jessie Jackson then he pointed to several articles about "black unemployment".
His comments were directed at the liberal elites and their attitude toward black people.
He was not suggesting that all black people have the same frame of mind.
Ferd, I was going to send you a PM to be sure that you saw it, but I figured that I better say this publicly. I did finally get a chance to go back and listen to the audio and frankly I am a bit upset. I hate being manipulated and deceived by propaganda of any sort. In this case it is very clear that Limbaugh's text was taken and presented out of context. I usually try to do my due diligence before I repeat stuff and when I confirmed that he actually said these words, I ran with it.
In listening to the complete context it is obvious to anyone who is trying to be honest that he was attempting to speak for the Jesse Jackson's of the world (who I still insist do not speak for the vast majority of black people but that's a different story).
The only issue I would have with this is that it seemed that adding the Tiger stuff was still a bit overboard. It seemed that that was just him rifting at that point, but the rest of the quote was clearly presented in the wrong context.
For the record, I still don't care for him much :)

I and my family are deeply saddened by the recent developments in the lives of Tiger & Elin Woods. Tiger has brought much joy into our lives in some very crucial times. He is a genuinely nice, caring, and compassionate person. But he has fallen into things that are destructive and our prayers, even including him in our dinner-time prayers, are with him. I agree with Jack Nicklaus....he'll figure this out. And I agree with John Daly...don't just stay together for the kids. Really, really work it out and we'll be ready to root for you, even more vigorously than ever, when you return to golf.
Thank you, Tiger, for what you've meant to our family, thank you for walking away from the PGA Tour to take care of what's really important, and thank you for the impact those around you have made on our lives. Be well, be healed, and we'll ready for you when you return!!

Interesting enough, one of my younger white friends made a statement similar to this a few years ago.
He asked something along the lines of, "Why do Black guys always go for White blondes with blue eyes?"
It was more of a statement than a question.
I dug a little deeper and he told me he that interracial dating made him angry-- more specifically Blacks and Whites.
During our discussion, one of the remarks I made was, "It takes 2 to tango."
In his illogical prejudice, he had forgotten that both parties are usually willing when people date each other.
He was also under the impression that most Black guys want to have "relations" with White women because Black women were so unattractive and White women were just more beautiful.
I laughed.
No, I didn't get angry. I just corrected him, hoping he would realize from our conversation that he was entitled to his taste in women but that his opinions were misguided.
We agreed to disagree and leave it alone. Sometimes, it's best that way.

I am sorry for Tiger and his family...I really am. The pain that is caused in these situations is unknown by most.
However, it appears that we are not talking about a slip of judgment. We are not talking about a 1 night stand when passions just got too much to bear. It appears that we are talking about a double lifestyle. It appears that we are not talking about an addiction, but a chosen lifestyle. One can choose to be faithful or one can choose not to be faithful.
As a Sr. Pastor, I have had more than one woman "hit" on me over the years and it was obvious what they were after. I have tried my best to kindly and respectfully not return those misplaced expectations. I have chosen to be faithful to my lovely wife. For that, the congregation I lead, appreciates that in me, as they should. If it ever came to light that I was leading a double life and had another woman/women on the side, they would be devastated, and I can understand that. I believe that most folks root for the good guy to win. I have believed Tiger to be a good guy. I have admired his "family" manner and "rooted" for his success. However, I, along with the rest of the world, have been scammed. We were seeing something that did not exist, it appears. It offends me and disappoints me. However, I will not pray for Tigers' demise. He, along with King David, have committed a terrible indiscretion that has affected multitudes who also were rooting for the good guy. If the fame of his repentance exceeds the fame of his fall, he can be restored. I pray for that restoration.
Do I feel sorry for him? Yes and no. The "YES" part of me states that it is sad that anyone's family has to go through this. The "NO" part of me states that if he didn't want these consequences he should have made different choices. For the life of me, I can't imagine how public figures like him, whose faces are planted all over the world think that they can get away without anyone saying anything etc. After all, what woman wouldn't eventually say, "Hey, you'll never guess who I slept with?"
I am glad that he is focusing on his family. I hope and pray that it works. It may be too late for that...I hope not. God's forgiveness is available to him and to all.
However, as a wise man once said, "If you can't do the "time" don't commit the "crime." Sorry Tiger, I'm in your corner, but don't expect me to say that it's OK and you just stubbed your toe here. You should have known better. You should have appreciated the blessings you have been given more. You should have cherished your lovely wife and children more than your base fleshly nature. Is it difficult to stay faithful? Not as difficult as it is to achieve the level of success in golf that you have. You REALLY do know how to overcome difficult situations. Bad form, Tiger. Bad form.

You really should have stopped with that. The rest of what you said boggles my mind. Oh well. You were scammed? Please.
I brought this thread back up today because I wanted to state my family's support of Tiger and reaffirm that our daily prayers, even to the point of intercession, are with him. I knew someone would say, "Yeah, but....." but I put it up anyway. I just wanted to say it.
To say that one is getting what one deserves is to completely ignore the fact, that if humanity got what it deserved, we would all be doomed (Lamentations 3:22). We all applaud your ability to resist the many women that, evidently, come after you. But I'm guessing there are some things you haven't resisted.
Go ahead, go on the message board at www.tigerwoods.com and join in with the thousands of condemnation specialists who are yelling at him (most of whom are very gifted at the use of vulgarities). Our family deeply hopes that he and his wife and able to get through this and not only survive, but do very well.
Tiger Woods said that, along with wanting to be a better husband and father, he also wants to be a better person. I can only pray and ask God to enable him to do just that. And I also pray that somehow, this destructive situation could somehow lead him to Jesus.

Perhaps because us men know how close of a temptation and struggle this is. And likely all the more for a man like Tiger, who is not filled with the Spirit, and who knows where is spiritual relationship with Jesus is. All the more reason for me, as a Christian, to root him on toward healing, hoping the best for his children and family -- and Tiger himself. In the shoes of the wife, I can understand her anger and feelings. I'm not the wife, I'm an outsider praying the best for their family and that's it.

"Many"....."More than one"....I'll let you parse the words. It's all relative. Some would believe "more than one" to be "Many." Since you've made mistakes, committed sins, and had lapses in judgment, as has Tiger, why don't you leave it at that and only pray for him, rather than announcing what he deserves. Again, Lamentations 3:22.

Yes, he failed. He could have avoided it, but he didn't. You, as well, could have avoided every sin you've ever committed. But you didn't. You and Tiger are the same in that respect. You've probably behaved better than he. Good for you. But you both need God's grace. For all have sinned (past tense) and come short (present tense) of the glory of God.

Isn't THAT the truth! Imagine if every Follower of Christ just prayed for the guy's life.

To be fair and balanced, it should be made clear that your depravity, without God's grace, is just like Tiger's.
I hope you still like it when "Iron sharpens iron", although you may not considered me to be "iron"! :)
No, I didn't' think Tiger was a great golfer. Everyone knew that he was. Most of us thought he was a "good guy" when it came to his family. I would never expect perfection. I WOULD expect faithfulness to Elin, as did she, as did most, and I assume YOU as well.
I also have no problem whatsoever stating in clarity that my depravity, without God's grace deserves an horrible pit. But He, through His blood has promised me a heavenly place. However, because of his larger than life, life and his apparent, good family man personna, we all expected more and that expectation is not unreasonable. It is expected of ALL leaders. There are certain things you can't get away with when it comes to leadership. Those who fail to realize that, IMO, are in danger of repeating them.
A leader can make many mistakes which will not ruin his leadership. He can have a slip of the tongue; file taxes late; make a less than stellar decision, misjudge a situation; loose his temper etc. But when a leader makes such an egregious error in judgment, which goes to the very core of his ability to lead, that is keeping his word, that "Titanic" is going down. That is not a criticism of the man. That is simply the way leadership works.
You continually fail to mention the GOOD things I have stated regarding this situation. I didn't stop at the good things because of the reality. No fear in stating truth. I have not judged him. I have only said what I would say if I were in his shoes. Accepting responsibility is what big boys do. Generals well understand that as do presidents and kings etc.
Pro. 6:32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. 33 Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away;
The balance is this: Jn. 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

Tiger is neither a leader nor a Christian leader. Perhaps we may infer his exposure qualifies, but that's not exactly something he signed up for. He just played golf quite well.

Ah...you greatly err! Tiger IS a leader. Maybe not a Christian leader, but a leader nonetheless. He played golf not only "quite well" but better than anyone else. THAT qualifies him as a leader. The guy out front is ALWAYS the leader.
The world is always looking for heroes. Not perfect people, but heroes nonetheless. A hero is not one w/o faults, mistakes etc. People are desperately looking for people with integrity. Those who keep their word and their important covenants.
I really do get great joy from someone who is at the top of their game and who excels above the others. I love to say, "Bravo" at a great accomplishment even if it is not perfect. But there is nothing greater than keeping one's commitment to their spouse, especially in the face of difficult situations. I know it takes two and I'm not being idyllic. But THAT is an accomplishment worthy of note above all others. That is also a biblical principle. One which our society has watered down and made archaic. I applaud anyone in the public eye who at least has victory in that area. I could admire a wacky WWF wrestler who stays married to his first wife and stays faithful as well. THAT deserves a standing "O!" IMO :D

Those who follow him seeking leadership need a reality check.
I get your statement, and it's one I teach my children, but in a technical sense, Tiger Woods is not leading anyone. I think a football player would better qualify. He's a one-man show and sports phenom.
Anyway, point being, he's not a Christian nor an actual leader, though some perceive him to be so because of sheer exposure. I agree that keeping commitment is not only noble but expected. For me, this isn't about my thoughts on adultery. Most of us made our statements condemning the behavior from Day 1. This is Day 20, time to move on and pray for Tiger personally.

I'll admit, I'm surprised at what has taken place. And because I have a son that has, from the time he was small, prayed for Tiger to come to faith in Christ, we are both heartbroken at what has occurred, and hopeful that this will allow him to realize he needs something more than his own strength, talent, and discipline.
Yes, I would have hoped that he would be faithful, but I also know that rock stars, actors, and athletes face sexual temptations to extents that you and I will never comprehend. I'd like to think I would pass the test. But honestly, none of us could know for sure until we were in that place. I hope by God's grace, I would. But I also hope that if I blew it, even repeatedly as Tiger did, that there would be a place of shelter and safety for me.
I also have no problem whatsoever stating in clarity that my depravity, without God's grace deserves an horrible pit. But He, through His blood has promised me a heavenly place. I don't see Tiger as a leader of anything besides tournament leader boards and PGA Tour money lists. Your remarks concerning leaders would seem to apply to everyone.
Again, what you're saying about leaders applies to everyone.
Tiger himself said, "I may not be able to repair the damage I've done." He knows how bad this is and he knows it MUCH better than any of us who are on the internet typing gibberish. It's theory to us, but it's real for him and his family. I think it's notable that he has not hired a PR crisis management firm to help. He's going with his heart and I think that's a great start.
The good things you say are always followed by, "But....". Like I said when this all started, "If you'd just stopped after the first paragraph."
I don't understand why we all need to point pout the obvious. Galatians 5 says, "The works of the flesh are evident" or "obvious." We all know what he did wrong and we all know how terrible it is. So does Tiger. Why do we feel the need to come here and throw our hat into the ring of announcing his wrongs? What more is there to say than, "Oh God!! Help him! Please!"? Is there really anything else to say?
Pro. 6:32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. 33 Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away;
"He forgave all your sin. He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross." Colossians 2:14-15.
Jesus bore not only our sin but our shame as well.
The balance is this: Jn. 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

What you may fail to realize is that this place is a discussion board. We discuss things here. We discuss the good, the bad and the ugly. It is not a one dimensional "Pollyannic" only say the good things discussion board. You're absolutely right that I have said the good things and then, "But." That is because the "but" exists. Sorry if you don't like the fact that the bad along with the good gets "bytes." It is the reality you don't seem to take too well to around here. I dare say that we are a far cry from the web site you unwisely mentioned here that is trashing him. No one has trashed him here, IMO. We have been discussing the reality of his public life and his indiscretions.
I pray that he not only restores his marriage but that he can become an example of what can happen when one determines to make things right. I like Tiger Woods! I think it is admirable that he has repented and now is going to just work on restoring his marriage and keeping his family together. I hope he does salvage it.
As for him giving up golf for a while... I tried it but it was too boring for me. Lord help!!! Walking around all day in the heat and hitting a little ball a few feet into a hole in the ground???? No way Jose! I have to have a little adventure in my life! Well, come to think of if it..... maybe that is why he NEEDED a little adventure in his life! LOL

He (me) said, "For those of you who may have laughed at jokes or told jokes about Tiger Woods this week.....If we want those outside the faith to really believe that we a safe place where grace is given, how could they ever be sure if they see us laughing at and joking about celebrities, actors, athletes, and TV preachers who have fallen into immorality. The day before Christmas break, Little Timmy’s teacher tells the class, that the first student to correctly identify a quote would get to go home early.
Timmy, being a kid who hated school, really wanted out so he determined to win the extra vacation.
The teacher says “who said: Four score and seven years ago”?
Before Timmy could even open his mouth, little Suzie said “Abraham Lincoln!”
The teacher said “Right! Suzie, you can go home now!”
Timmy was not happy but the teacher said she had another quote.
Timmy got ready and the teacher asked “Who said: Ask not what your country can do for you”?
Before Timmy could even open his mouth Janie said “John Kennedy!”
The teacher replied “that’s right Janie, you can go home now!”
Timmy was steamed.
Under his breath he said “I wish those stupid girls would shut up!”
But he said it a bit too loud and the teacher angrily retorted “Who said that!?!”
Timmy said “Tiger Woods, can I go home now?”
