Kara will be having the surgery on her eye at 10am this morning.

We are leaving now for Memphis.

Prayer for a safe and successful procedure would be appreciated.

Will do, especially since me and opthamologists have become so close lately.

well, it's 10:15 here right now. So I am going to pray RIGHT NOW :)

Dear Father, please be in surgery with Tina's daughter right now. Please allow things to go according to clock-work and then PLEASE don't let her get sick to her stomach when she is waking up from surgery. Also, God, surround Tina and the rest of the family with YOUR peace as they wait. Sometimes it's harder to be the family waiting and worrying than it is to be the patient. Help them to lean on you.

And finally, Father God, give them safe travels as they go home today. Not only Tina and her carload, but also all those traveling around them.

We are asking all this in your holy name and thanking you for being our God who truly cares when we need You. We love you so much. In Jesus' name. AMEN!

We are home. Surgery went well. Feeling returned to the eye quicker than expected-- and she is in a great deal of pain at the moment. We had to take the dressing off the eye, and need to put some meds in the eye ASAP. This is not going to be a pleasant procedure-- as it's extremely painful for her to try to open the eye.

Thanks to all who have prayed-- continued prayer would be greatly appreciated.

Doc says the first few days will be the worst, then it will begin to be better....

Prayer can make the first few days not as bad as what they have warned they could be....

I hate seeing my child in pain. :(

Tina, I haven't been online in a couple of days. I just saw this. I am praying for her!

It's not as painful today-- and for that, we are thankful. She still can't open the left eye yet because of all the swelling (which was expected). At least at this point, there isn't any bruising-- she was dreading the thoughts of having a black, purple and blue eye. Hopefully she won't experience the bruising--but that remains to be seen.

The surgeon called today to check on her, and said that based on what I had told him she is doing very well following the surgery.

There has been no bleeding, which allowed for a switch from Tylenol & Lortab to Ibuprofen-- which should help more with reducing the swelling.

This experience has done one thing-- and that's made her appreciate her eyesight she does have in the right eye, even more. Since yesterday, she's been sitting or laying around with her eyes closed to help rest the eye that the surgery was done on. She told me earlier this evening, she'd never realized before that just about everything that she enjoys doing requires her to be able to see. After doing nothing fun today except listening to her IPod--and accepting a few phone calls from concerned friends-- I believe she will have a new appreciation for her eyesight.
