Here is a strange take from a "liberal".....

I don't find it modest that the leggings extend past the hemline of a skirt. It draws attention to an undergarment, which is so named for a reason.

So by the same logic you should not show the tee shirt under the neck line of a polo? Or a long sleeve tee shirt under a short sleeve shirt, like a jersey for softball or something? This is the same thing. Plus my little sister-in-law were the leggings style and I told here about this thread and she said all the girls still wear normal undergarments under these leggings. So that makes them not showing their undergarments.

The leggings should be banned on the grounds they are just plain ugly and stupid looking. We have a few younger ladies and girls that wear them and I wanna hide every time I see them. Not because I think they are a sin but they are really ugly looking and then wearing the shorter skirt over them makes it even more ugly.

There are a couple of families that frequently wear this fashion in my church. I confess when I first saw it I thought it was one of the weirdest things I'd seen since the '80s. I guess I am getting used to it, but I reserve concern that the practice is being used, as the little girls grow older, to "sneak past" a few skirts that are above the knee. I'm harboring hope that it will be outgrown, but a couple of the mothers are doing it along with their daughters now, too.

I'm against my daughters appearing in public like this. It's too clownish in my view. But even we adopt this odd fashion - when my oldest girl wants to climb trees! :feral :lol

Lower 40s? Try below zero. I fully believe the no pants ever, originated in the South. My mom grew up UPC in the north and they wore pants for winter weather and activities. Let's try some common sense, please.

I came into this discussion late and didn't read all 104 pages so forgive me if I am repeating something someone else may have said.

The people who demand their women to wear pantyhose every time they step out of the door of their houses are the same people who are having a fit over leggings which are merely pantyhose with the feet cut out. I don't do any of the above you mentioned in a skirt alone nor would I recommend it to any lady/girl. I wear something under my skirt or most often I wear culottes. Sometimes, due to the cold, I wear something under my culottes.

Interestingly enough, they make NYLON leggings for men. This is because men discovered that pantyhose provide warmth and thus they designed something similar to pantyhose for men that spend time out in the cold hunting, fishing, etc.

I have to wonder how many con/ultra con men would never hestitate to buy such garments for hunting, fishing, etc. Technically, they are a woman's garment simply modified for men.

I have heard of one Apostolic preacher who wore them at Camp Meeting in Colorado. The dude was from Mississippi I believe and it got so cold there at night he borrowed his wife's hose to keep him warm while on the platform in an open air A-frame for camp meeting.

Believe me, the temps dipped into the 40s in the summer time during the evening up there.

Now they have pansy-camp held in churches and such.

Their dad's would likely condemn someone to hell over a pair of jeans. Most people consider the leggings to be similar to pants- only tighter fitting.... and they are okay with that I guess because their daughters think they are fashionable and want to wear the leggings.

My girls don't wear them. They will tell anyone that the leggings just look tacky. If they want something to keep their legs warm, they will wear hose or tights and a longer skirt.

I'm not going to share my view of leggings, but I wanted to answer why "some" think they are wrong.

Some of the girls I have seen wearing leggings are wearing them with short skirts.
When I mention "short", I mean as in 2 - 4 inches above the knee.
