I would not call that guy "reverend". He is anything but that.

I have a feeling he is going to be surprised when he ends up in the elite "Hitler Wing" of hell himself for the grievous sins he has committed against the families of our soldiers who have died and now these poor grieving families.

I am really surprised that some grieving family member looking to release some emotion and tension has not just pounded this idiot into the ground.

CC,

there are 2 things that surprise me:

number 1, that someone hasn't caused serious harm to these people yet.

number 2, they recently allowed a jouralist to come to their church and do a write up/interview. to the journalist' surprise, most of them were well educated!!! and lived pretty normal lives!

can you make sense of that ???

I hate to say this on a Christian forum but that Phelps guy needs a bullet between the eyes. Enough is enough with this guy.

Right to Free Speech, yes.

This is NOT Free Speech.

Have you seen the videos where they attacked a van leaving a funeral smashing out the windows once?

I guess this is further proof that a formal education does not give you common sense!!

This is along the lines of an article I read months or maybe a year or so after 9-11. It talked about how a big percentage of highly educated Pakastanis ( and I am sure other Middle Easterners) actually believed that the Jews had taken down the World Trade Center!!!! This was before Osama officially claimed credit for it.

Even Doctors and Lawyers, supposedly analytical thinkers, were so idoctrinated to hate Jews and blame them for everything that they automatically believed that goofy theory.

The man has some MAJOR Biblical and social problems.

When he was kid he probably wet his pants in high school and smiled about it.

Just another sicko and that thrives on the attention.

I am too emotional to be around a funeral these nuts might be at. I would not even have to know the dead person to know that I would do anything within my human power to keep these morons away from the family.

I know that two wrongs don't make a right and I would not harm anybody (well, not permanently or lethally) but I would be happy to go to jail for destroying their vehicle with a little sugar in the gas tank or a knife in the tires if that would keep them from disturbing a family.

I don't know about Hells Angels but I am a part of the Patriot Guard which is a motorcycle group that escorts funerals of military folks to protect them against this idiot and any other protestors.

The PG only comes to funerals they are invited to by the family. So far I have not been able to ride for any missions but hope to do so this summer.

I can guarantee you that Phelps nor any other protesters gets close to families the PG is there for!!

The Patriot Guard is internet based and is made up of motorcyclists from all over the nation. Each state has a leader who coordinates missions for that state. I get email alerts of missions in my area.

I would say disrupting a funeral would call for some civil action Newman could probably tell us?

I have read a few times there have been court orders keeping them a certain distance from the funeral home, etc.

What a shame that a family grieving over the loss of a son or daughter would have to worry about getting court orders and the such.

I will bet you he does most of his shenanigans outside of Texas. Texans don't put up with that kind of feces!!!!!

I have been to a funeral where they protested. Believe me both they and law enforcement know exactly how close they can get and how many minutes they can stay. In this case I think it was 1000 ft. and one hour. They interesting thing was, the school where the event was being held parked buses around the perimeter and effectively blocked the view of the protesters.

What anyone hasn't been able tp answer is this, "what does he hope to accomplish in this?"

By doing what he's doing how is it goung to bring them to God or to minister to their broken spirits?

I truly believe he is just deluded by Satan. This man has brought so much shame on Christendom it is amazing.

He fulfills every stereotype folks have of Evangelicals.

In the State of TX "He needed a killin" is still a recognized defense in a murder trial. I would reckon Mr Phelps would fall under that category. LOL

Those guys are sick and do more harm to the cause of Christ, They lack tact and timing

They do have a right to freedom of speech however I don't believe they have a right to it in any place they choose. You can't legally yell fire in a crowded building and not suffer consequences if a riot breaks out
