My MIL is expected to pass on anytime now. She has cancer and though it was in remission for a couple years it came back with a vengeance. She's only 75. She retired from WEC and attends New Life in St. Louis.
The four children are headed home to be with her one last time.
The weather is going to be bad here this weekend and my son, dil and I will have to get up there, so we will need traveling mercies should it happen this weekend.
Even though I'm divorced, the Craig family treat me as still one of the family - I have been blessed.

Dearest Renda,
May our Great and Compassionate GOD be with you all, as you travel to St. Louis for this visit. And if HE would see fit, may He allow the weather to be kind at this particular time. May the Comforter send His Love and spread it as though it were a quilt of peace and comfort over the entire Craig family, in Jesus Name!
Blessings as you go,

so sorry to hear the news - that's the way family should be - after my parents' divorce, my granddaddy told my mother that she would always be his daughter-in-law. and that's the way it was.

Praying for the family. I understand being divorced and yet still being loved and loving the in-laws. I grieved when my ex's mother passed away as well. God be with you and all the family.

Renda, my heart and prayers go out to you and to your family. May God smile on you and keep you safe in His arms as you travel, when the time of her departure comes. I would like to share a poem that I use often. Hope it ministers to you.
The Dash
I read of a preacher who stood to speak
At the funeral of his friend;
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning — to the end.
He noted that first came the date of his birth,
And he spoke of the following date with tears;
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between the years.
For that dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth,
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash;
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard,
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left...
You could be at “dash-mid-range!”
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real;
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more;
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your Eulogy is being read,
With your life’s actions to rehash...
Would you be pleased with the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Any word on your MIL, Renda? Still praying.
Yes, she has worsened - she's semi-unconscious now and her breathing is changing. The hospice nurse thinks it could be tonight - tomorrow at the latest.
She's reached out and called for her mama.
I'm just praying that God takes her peacefully in her sleep tonight.
I appreciate the prayers and I know the family does too.

Here's a picture of us from this past June at her granddaughter's wedding. She didn't feel good, but she always had a smile -- especially when I was goofing around with her. In her little gray wig.....I was trying to get her to dance - - she wouldn't have anything to do with it! lol.

Renda, her suffering is over and her rejoicing has just begun.
I'm praying for all of you right now. Please be safe on those roads. If it's not safe to go, don't go. You know she would never have wanted anyone to risk their lives for this, right?

We are waiting to travel to St. Louis tomorrow. I55 is just too dangerous still - - at least an inch of ice. The sun will be coming out tomorrow even though it'll remain below freezing, but that should help some.

Your mother in law was one of my wife's friends at WEC. We had prayer for the family this morning. My heart goes out to her husband. I know what it is to loose a mate at that age.

The day went very good - she had a beautiful homecoming service!
It was wonderful to see family and friends. My children got to meet Bruce Howell and he told them I was his first secretary. Beautiful people!
