View Full Version : American Idol Gives Back
Tonight is a special American Idol where they are raising money for children's charity's both in the USA and in Africa.
They just showed a video clip of American Idol winner country singer Carrie Underwood in Africa with a lot of orphoned children, etc.
Part of the clip was her singing a song. It was lip synched but she had a guitar player and two violen (fiddle) players with her.
I am almost positive one of them was one of the Clark Boys (Oneness Pentecost raised).
What really made me think it is him is that they were showing video clips of Carrie and her musicans interacting with the children while the song was playing for the audio and it showed this guy laying hands on a boy and very obviously praying for him. Carrie Underwood was right by him and the boy and wiping tears from her eyes.

Yes, it's him...one of the twins.
He appears with her everywhere, Tonight Show, SNL, American Idol when she performed....FC is from NB.
I am taking calls for the special tonight. Call and donate. It's a good cause.

Looks like Simon was really affected.
I think this is a great idea!
I love Josh!
I was really surprised at them leaving in the scene of him very obviously praying for someone in an animated way.
I wonder if there is anything going on between him and Carrie? She is one beautiful woman and the Clark boys are all handsome.

Ha...I thought the same thing after I saw her SNL performance, here's why...NO FIDDLE player ever gets that much solo time on SNL. He got a solo in the middle and then they ended with him rockin' out and I thought, "Hmmmm" sumptin' going on here!
If he's lucky......
You know on one level it has to be frustrating to be a musician for a girl who two years ago was on a farm in Oklahoma and had never flown in an airplane while the Clark boys have been trying to break into the big time since I have been in Nashville, almost 8 years.
The Clark Family Experience had more talent in one family band than just about any in history. I really don't know why they didn't break through. They opened for Tim McGraw to great reviews and crowd reception but their record label took way too long to get their debut CD out and it didn't go anywhere.
They pioneered a new way of getting out of a record contract. They declared bankruptcy and as part of that court proceeding had their record contract nullified.
They said that in the two or three years the label had them tied up I think they made a total of something like $50,000 other than a TV pilot they did for ABC network and that didn't get picked up.

I saw Fat Elvis in concert in Shreveport La. in 1975. I had never bought an Elvis record but he was a living legend and I knew from all of the newspaper reports that he was not long for this world so I wanted to see him.
Despite his girth and with enough pharmeceuticals in his system to make remembering a few lyrics difficult, he gave an amazing concert that in particular pleased the thousands of girls there from the ages of 8 to 80 (probably older).

Man....I was going to freak out! Whew!
If Jordin had gone home before Chris that would have been a travesty.
Next week we lose two at one time though.

I came to appreciate his music later in life though I did like a few of his songs when I was young.
I had a huge crush on Farrah Fawcett. Being a nerd with glasses it was my fantasy to show up at a High Scool function with her as my date!!!!!
BTW - Aren't you in Canada? Do they have a "Canadian Idol"?
Scott Hutchinson

Yeah they proably do have a Canadian Idol with Geddy Lee as a judge.

Hey I had tickets to that concert, but my husband got out of the Air Force and didn't want to wait two weeks before going back to his home state.
I had ring side seats too. Sold them. :(

Wow! I had mediocre seats but I had some binoculars with me and I also got up and walked way down front and stood and watched him perform close up for a little while. Security was not anything like it is these days at a concert.
They played that piece of classical music that is in 2001 A Space Odyssey as the build up to Elvis coming on stage and by the time the music peaked and he stepped out in the spotlight that place was going wild!!!! I have never seen so many lightbulbs popping off at one time in my life as every woman there got their souvineer snapshots proving they saw Elvis in person.

I finally got to see him in Huntsville, Al, the year before he died. It was the only non christian concert I have ever attended.
I was in the nose bleed section. I wanted to reach over and hit my sweet hubby for making me sell my ringside seats. :thad

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I was glad that Melinda sang a gospel song and Simon actually loved it. I thought Jordan was absolutely amazing!!
Idol Gives Back raised Sixty Million Dollars last night between corporate sponsers and the public calling in donations.
Steve Munsey can only dream of coercing little old ladies and poor people into giving that amount of money!!!

I loved seeing Ryan Seacrest in the feeding station in Kissumu. We are getting ready to plant a church in that town in Kenya! Seeing all those kids made me homesick to go back.

They need to raise a lot more money than that to make up for introducing the world to Clay Aiken.

I liked Clay. I thought he had a great voice. He was the poster child for us nerds everywhere until we found out he was really the poster child for GAY nerds everywhere!!
You don't hear much about him anymore. So far Carrie Underwood is he most successful Idol winner with a little over five million copies of her debut CD having been sold. That is especially amazing considering it is a Country album and Country Music has been in decline over the last decade plus.
In the last few years you could have the number one country hit on radio and still have only sold less than a million CD's.
Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler along with a couple of the guys are all here in Nashville so sooner or later I will probably run into one of them.

You need to forget planting that African church and "plant a seed" in the CC1 Missions Program.
We are raising funds for a 2008 or 2009 missions trip to Australia and one that is a Transatlantic voyage from Europe back to America.
We promise to put a WAF tract on every cabin door if we raise enough money and Mrs. CC1 will sing inspirational songs at karaoke and in the ship talent contest.

Though Melinda and Lakisha have similar tastes, the musical difference is Melinda's studio training...the way she handles the music and herself.
It's interesting to watch, and even hear.
Lakisha is so 'church' trained...that's what Simon keeps hearing and it sounds so loud to him.
Just an old sound person's opinion...:hypercoffee

I'd like to know where you are getting your information from because Country music is more mainstream now than it ever was. Artists like Kenney Chesney, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are breaking concert records every year. Country music is far from being in a decline.
