View Full Version : Please say a prayer for Michael...
He is having a really rough time dealing with the allergies because of all this pollen. He's back on 3 breathing treatments a day-- and is still struggling with some of the allergy/asthma issues.
I'd give anything if I were the one dealing with the problems instead of my child. I hate to see my children suffer. :(
He could really use a good night's sleep, without all the coughing... and just maybe tomorrow, he would feel better.

Tina, as the mother of a son with lots and lots of allergies - some of them very severe - I understand how you feel. It's horrible both for him AND for you. I will be praying for you. We've been to the doctor twice in the last week for Keith's allergies. Our next stop is back at the allergist instead of the pediatrician.
Thank you for the prayers everyone.
He saw his doctor again today, and they added the 4th treatment back to the daily schedule-- plus another med to be added to the Albuterol. She put him back on Singulair.....again.... and Prednisolone... again.... and Zithromax...again...and Hycodan... again. :( He hasn't needed all this stuff for over three years. :( That's what makes it so rough.... the doctor thought he'd outgrown most of the issues.
She did tell me today that this year she's seeing patients again that had been symptom free or their symptoms had been extremely mild for several seasons... that this year is one of the worst for allergy sufferers that she's ever seen.
Normally a daily dose of Zyrtec keeps his symptoms completely under control.
Michael HATES taking any type of meds... so he's not a happy camper. When Michael ain't happy... well-- any parents of kids that deal with this know how this goes. ;)

Tina, Keith was taking Zyrtec (2 x a day), Cyproheptadine (another anti-histamine. 2 x a day), Singulair, Rhinocort Nasal Spray (2 x day), Pulmicort Turbohaler (2 x a day) and then had Albuteral for when things were really bad.
Now we're down to just Zyrtec once a day and Singulair, plus a nasal spray (of the steroid variety) and an inhaler (also steroid). He can't take oral steroids because of an allergic reaction, but the nasal and inhaled kinds are ok. Just not as powerful. And of course, we keep Albuteral both in the inhaler and also for his machine on hand. Plus, of course, he also takes Adderall for his ADHD.
So I get it - I know what you're going thru!! Not fun, is it? I'll pray for yours, you pray for mine :) :highfive

Just reading this Tina. Praying that he's better!
Tina, I am so sorry Michael is having to go through all of this. I know what you mean by wishing you could suffer rather than him. It is so hard to see our children go through things.
I have very minor allergey problems only a few times of the year and bought the generic of Zytrec to try and it is amazing for me. It is the only allegey medicene I have ever taken that does not make me drowsey and for my limited symptomns it works great.
