Hello,
I'm Yolanda I decided to join this forum to hang out with people with the same beliefs as me. ( not that I have a problem with people of different beliefs it's just that being with like minds is enjoyable). I'm not going to kid you I wasn't always a Pentecostal I was just a lost wanderer . I would just bounce from church to church. This summer my older sister became reacquainted with a friend who happened to be the Pastors son at a Pentecostal Church. Long story short. She me invited to attend Church with her . We went for a few months and then got invitation to become members . We took it without hesitation . August 17 2009 My sister, my 11 year old niece and I were baptized. The next day my sister and I received the holy ghost during prayer night. Before attending this church no one had ever told us that we had to receive the Holy Ghost to get into Heaven.

Welcome, Yolanda!
You may think this is a silly question, but How did you know when you received the Holy Spirit? How did your sister know? Did you have some kind of "sign"?

We knew because we started speaking in tongues. My body started shaking and I fell.
My sister started speaking in tongues and laughing uncontrollably.

My sister started speaking in tongues and laughing uncontrollably. How do you know the tongues you spoke were real? Did someone coach you into how to speak with tongues?
The reason I ask is because some folks fake speaking with other tongues. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you or your sister faked speaking with tongues. I'm just wondering how you, yourself, knew that what happened to you was real and authentic.
BTW, the experience of speaking with tongues when someone receives the Holy Spirit is scriptural. It is found in Acts 2, 10, and 19.

That's a good question. I believe it was real because it was uncontrolled . It went on for hours. When we got home my dad thought I had gone insane it was hours before I was able to speak normally . It was actually frustrating at times. :)

It was actually frustrating at times. :)I felt the same way when I spoke with tongues. It just happened and it was not something I had any control over either. The words just sort of flowed out of my mouth with no deliberate thinking on my part.
Welcome to AFF.
I hope we do not scare you off.

Welcome to you and another witness of the Holy Ghost Baptism! My 11 year old granddaughter received the Holy Ghost last summer at camp - she (and several others) could not stop speaking in tongues - they were so full - it was a joy!!!!!
