I assume he gets by having a TV program because he is not a licensed minister with the UPC?
Nowhere on his site do I see him referred to as a preacher, simply a motivational speaker.
Sounds like an interesting person. If it wasn't almost 1 am I would check out his videos. Have to wait until tomorrow!!

They really are tops!
The following is from the site:
Our goal is to see countless lives changed through the message of God's love. Our vision is to reach for unchurched people who will more than likely not go to church. We want to encourage our viewers to take a step into a deeper relationship with God.
It is because of your prayers and support that we are able to do what we do. Every dollar you give us is used to change lives.
I thank God every day for you and pray that you will be blessed and ignited with passion to share God's love with everyone.
Thanks for helping us reach the world.

I think he is a licensed minister. I hear he is "taking" over the church or at least being groomed to take over when his father retires.

Hmmmm............ Does he know he is violating his signing of the affirmation statement by having a TV program on satellite and cable TV?
Next you are going to tell me he wears short sleeves and a wedding ring.
I visited that church in West Monroe once about 30 years ago on the way home or back to JCM from a break. I was with my buddy Mark Carouthers and some Southern Gospel familly group was singing there.

I am not sure that he is. If a UPC minister has a side biz, can he not run that biz as he sees fit? I think the prohibition is placing the churches on TV/ministers owning a TV in the home.

the Fosters church was VERY "hip" with the times. maybe ahead of the times for some. know what i mean??? they have the strobe lights and all that in their services. reminds me of a rock concert. the youth likes it though. guess that is what they are trying to appeal to. whatever works for them......

A few years back didn't one of the larger UPC churches in the Monroe, La. area leave the UPC and go lib?
What is the story there. How is that church doing? How big, etc?
Also how big is Foster's church now?
How is the Foster girl doing who finally got married in her old age????

Jaremy Foster will be at my church next weekend for youth services!
From what I've heard, someone who works at a local station saw him give a presentation and worked with their station to give him a show.
He's not violating the stupid AS because it's not dealing specifically with church. It's his personally ministry that's not affiliated with the UPCI.
JF has always been out in front in terms of youth ministries. I can't wait to have him @ SRX!

If a minister is licesned with the UPC how can he have a "personal minisry" seperate from that??????????????????????? That makes no sense whatsoever.
You can't say I am a UPC minister when I am in the pulpit but when I minister outside the pulpit it is just my "personal ministry".
That is the kind of mental gymnastics that stretches credibility too far.

Good grief. Why don't people have the courage to just get out and do what they want to do.
When Suber got ready to broaden his horizons to television, etc., he didn't sit around dreaming up some mental gymnastics that would do the US Congress proud. He just quit and went with folks who thought like him.
Maybe these guys can go to work for that foundation that's always sending out stuff saying it's illegal for the US government to collect taxes.

How can a minister have a secular job? Mental gymnastics?
This is JF's "secular job." It's not affiliated with the UPC, nor his church, nor anything relating to them. It's what he does for a living outside of ministering in churches.
It's no different than a pastor holding a secular job.

rgcraig and CC1,
Thought your posts were hilarious. It shows how ridiculous some people look with their 'see through' excuses for why they disobey what they agreed to uphold.
Unfortunately their hypocritical logic is just about as insane as your post infers! If those who don't want to abide by the guidelines of an organization let them go find a different one! There are other choices out there that believes more like them.
I, for one, get embarrassed by the people who hold a card and defy the guidelines of the UPC with STUPID excuses. I think I could have more respect for them if they just said, "I don't care what the UPC believes; I'm going to do it my way."
In fact, while I disagree vehemently with the way Suber did things I have to admit that I have more respect for him than I do those staying 'in the ark' and perpetually lying to do so. The truth is, I respect YOU TWO more for seeing it than I do them for DENYING it.

Mark Foster told me that Jeremy was his assistant in the West Monroe church (Twin Cities Pentecostals). While he may not be a UPC licensed minister, we have more in our manual regarding television than the prohibition of UPCI preachers ministering or advertising on television. If he is indeed on television I am greatly disappointed in his father for keeping him on staff. But that's just my opinion.

Specificly there is no prohibition to appear on TV, minister or not.
Article VII, Section 7, Item 31
No minister having a television in his or her home shall be permitted to hold license or credentials with the United Pentecostal Church International. This is open to interpretation, and JF would likely fall in this slot as a community service not-for-profit - non church entity.
Also, do you really believe the intent here is to prohibit all advertising on TV or specificly advertising for the church ministry? If someone is going to say a minister who also has holdings in a corporation is prohibited from advertising the same on TV then the langauge must be clarified. I was appalled.
All it was was smoke and mirrors, strobe lights, etc.
When it settled down, Bro Ewing was asked to address the audience. His words summed it up quite well. He said "I came for the meeting here and didn't expect to see all this...uh...semeblance of the Holy Ghost'"
We walked out since it was too much like what the world is using to catch people's attention. I believe that we should give them the real Holy Ghost and not just a "semblance".

I think the intent of Resolution #6 would be some clarification of this article. I may have voted yes to a greater clarification. It has however been also viewed as a larger agenda. Since the same person who wrote this resolution also wrote the previous denied lifting of Television, the latter seems probable.

Just curious, what was accomplished by walking out?Our whole church group left, as well as did many others. It was a silent protest.
I thought it was interesting that sunday night (next day) we had a rather powerful move of the Holy Ghost that clearly showed something more than smoke and mirrors.
I spoke to our youth and told them that the choice was theirs: they could have the falsity of the night before or they could have the reality that was before them.
I want the reality.

This is kinda mean, but I gauge how well a service is going by if certain church groups leave. *grin*
It's crazy here. People leave over the silliest things. At a youth camp a few years back, a couple youth groups walked out when the praise team started singing "Lord, You are Good." No fog. No strobe lights. It was a youth campmeeting service and they left because the song had too worldly a beat!
Needless to say when my former church had a weekend youth event and one of the groups came, I knew if we were doing right - they wouldn't stay long. We had lights, fog, and loud, crazy black gospel music. The band was incredible. I'm leading the worship and sure enough less than a minute into the opening song they get up and leave.
It was good though, gave us more room for guests who were actually hungry for God.

I meant another church in the Monroe area that had been UPC untl maybe 10+ years ago. I can't think of the pastors name. I have never been there but met someone from there when they visited Kenneth Phillips church in Austin about the time they were leaving the Ark.
CC1, I think you are referring to this church. They were formally in the UPC.

Was I there? HAHA You all Chaotic is tell the truth here. I was the YP at this church and we were bouncing off the walls in worship and the others just bounced on out. When they got there you could tell they were not easy with what was going to go on even before we started. The fog was rolling and we were testing the lights they looked at us as if we were crazy. Well the truth it was crazy and they were crazy for leaving. We had about 4 receive the HG. Some people coming back to God and everything and they missed a great sermon. . .But if people are willing to try new things they will get new people. Revival can not be done the same way from year to year, methods need to change. Apparently some people can not do that.

South,
You are correct. When I saw the pastor's name on the website it jogged my memory.
I read part of their "What We Believe" section and it is almost exactly the same as my Christ Church Nashville one.
Does anybody know how this church is doing? Since they left they Ark have they grown, shrunk, split, etc, etc?

What happened to not offending the weaker brother?
Don't you know you should only have youth meetings with a piano and banjo and a 50 year old hymnal?
Shame.................................

The Bible says perfer your brother....I prefer my brother come and enjoy and not leave early because of affects that add to the service.
JF is in deed the Asst Pastor of the West Monroe church. I dont know if he holds a UPCI license or not but his dad (the pastor) and his grandfather (pastor before that) both do. I dont know if the church is actually legally affiliated with the UPCI but it most assuredly is UPCI.
thus JF, being both the AP and the heir apparant, is upci.
Now I dont know if that show is airing on tv or just on the internet but what ever JF is, he is cutting edge.
the other really big church in the area is the Monroe church. Now pastored by its second generation of Chance
Both are still UPCI.
CC1, that third church you were talking about, I dont know if they are formerly UPCI or not but I do know that this church was never a big UPCI church as the Fosters and Chances suck up all the oxygen in that fair burg.
hope that clears up some points.

Ferdinand,
According to Jeremy's website it is a TV program and it is on both saellite and cable reaching three or four states.
The church I was thinking about is Christ Church and the pastors name is Lowe. How big is that one?

Folks, I am absolutely amazed ( I know, I shouldn't be) at the gossipy, speculative, accusatory bull hockey in this thread.
It has been posted THREE TIMES that Jeremy Foster is not found on the 07 ministers list for the UPCI...... But yet all people want to do is ignore that so they can speculate, accuse assume and spread camel dung about something they know nothing of.
I know Jeremy Foster personally. I grew up with he and his brother Johnathan.
I could not speak highly enough of Jeremy Foster.
I grew up with other PKs too. Several of them I will simply say "I know them" because I do know them enough to know some (or a lot) of their public image is just as fake as the corner used car salesman's.
Jeremy Foster has never been anything but real. A real Christian, a real gentleman, a real friend.
I can say that about his brother Johnathan, and his father Mark Foster as well.
You who like to nitpick and find fault, those who are "All up in the Kool Aid and don't even know the flavor" really need to verify some things before you start slinging unfounded mud.
Now THAT folks, ain't Christian.
By the way, Mark Foster has not pastored that church for 30 years.
He left NC around..... oh.... 8 to 12 years ago I think. (would have to verify, it seems like just yesterday, but In know it was longer than it seems.)
As with ANY pastoral transition, there will be some to leave. I am convinced none left due to fault on the Fosters part. They are first rate people.

I went to a Sectional Youth meeting a couple of years ago at Bro Ewing's church in Lake Charles, LA.

I've walked out on some performances myself. Not in rebellion but because it wasn't to the Glory of God, it was entertainment.

I am not taking up for something wrong so please do not read something I am not writing but are you saying you do not believe in entertainment? Would you allow a puppet show? A Bible quiz? A play? Sign choir? A debate? etc...???
I have never walked out of any service ...however once I was showing slides of Brazil and 5 or 6 people walked out...I treated them nice however after slides they came back in and low and behold if they did not show me pictures of their grandchildren...took them out of their wallets and purses...Boy I wanted to burn those idols! ha...
I do not know JF or anything about anyone said on this thread...however when I read the entertainment part I wondered about how mch you would allow...
I know there is reality and a REAL presence of the Lord. However I do know young people because I work with them...how far would you go to win others?
This is a sincere question and not a trick question.

Yes, all those things you mentioned are useful and I used all of them when I was pastoring.but when the sound is sooooo loud I get a headache I walk out. I don't do it in anger I just leave for self preservation. I know young people also, I have worked with them full time since 1970. You don't win people by adapting to the world's music. Christian Rock, Christian Rap..ain't such a thing it's either Christian or it's rap or rock. I'm sure I could win some to my way of thinking if I got Tattoos and sagged my britches if I thought that way. How far would I go..I'd go so far as necessary as long as it did not use worldly methods. In many cases we are entertaining not winning.

just wanted some of your thoughts...
I don´t care for a lot of music that is played today...some of it I can not even understand what they are singing!
Please no tattoss and sagged britches...ha....
I did rent what they call a rain machine one year when our young people sang about rain...they wanted it I thought it was cute and they felt it made their song more real...
Our people are very expressive by nature...

I haven't read the entire thread, I just checked the last page to see why such an old thread was bumped back up.
Bro Jeremy Foster preached at our Senior Youth Camp in June 2008--- he is a great minister and just an awesome all around great person!! Everyone loved having him at our Youth Camp!
