Can you say "selfish"?
No I don't need to go home any sooner than the last sinner repenting. I am sure there will come a day when it will be bad enough to car for His return. But I am not suffering a present and many many many are not ready for His return. I have family, friends, coworkers, co posters, and enemies that need to be born again, why wuold I want Jesus to return and they be lost?

I mean come on! those things get so slick when it rains that you cant even get thru the interstection without fishtailing!
Worse than driving around with fish in your pocket is those dumb bricks BREAK! (Please dont tell me bricks cant be dumb...I personally know 3 and they are all dumb as a box of rocks...which can also be dumb)
back to the brick pavers..... they break and sink and you get these stupid sinkholes at every cross road. I drove around town one time an counted, I must have looked at 50 and only 3 or 4 were in good repair. you know how much it costs to fix those stupid things????

Did he make a definite prediction? Or did he say something like "I don't see how we could be here much longer"? I'd like to know the exact quote. :dunno
A definite prediction or prophecy is different from someone just stating an educated guess or melancholy opinion of the world.
I agree with Renda; I don't think there's enough preaching about Jesus coming back.
However, the definite predictions get old; the dates have come and gone and come and gone again way too many times.

IMO....if we really believed that Jesus was really coming soon, I don't think we would be sitting around talking about it but we'd be out compelling the lost....I in clude my self first in "we".... IMO we are too comfy...
Chan...I understand "even so come quickly" and I didn't see you as being selfish... This world really makes me sick... Not the sinners, but the line of thinking this world has.... But I too, have lost loved ones I want saved...I dont want to see the endtimes but what is going to happen is already in the makings.....Lord help us all to be able to stand...whether it's 1 year, 2 years or 20!

I don't think we hear enough about the Lord's coming. We have all gotten comfortable in this world. But I do think we need to be shaken from our " sleep" more often. If K. Phillips preached this in his church it should be archived on the website. Thad give us more information. I would be interested in hearing the sermon.
Do you WANT the world to be destroyed? All them 'heathens' that don't know God to get their justice? My citizenship is in Heaven and being here in enemy territory is like being in exile: I want to go HOME! This world is going to be destroyed. The gospel will be preached among all nations (the Greek word refers more to ethnic groups): all of those whom the Father has given to Christ will come to Him - God is not going to lose any of His elect to this wicked world.

I have read the thread and, while I'm not for making predictions of 'dates', I DO think that we need to hear more about the coming of the Lord.
Ironically, I find it oddly encouraging that so many on this thread are talking about wanting to hear about the coming of the Lord and openly declaring that they think we are too 'comfortable'. Kind of strange, really, to see this on a forum. This is generally the attitude that precedes real revival in most churches.
Kinda refreshing.

I believe in the judgment, the setting of things right that God will finally be "all in all. His creation finally redeemed and restored to the glory of "God the Father".

Bro. Phillips should not have said that, if he did actually say it.
I find it quite baffling that someone would try to castigate people for being excited about the soon coming of the Lord. Of course we want to see all saved that we can. We all have loved ones that need salvation, too.
I just can't understand making a child of God feel badly about desiring a soon coming of Jesus Christ....

I just can't understand making a child of God feel badly about desiring a soon coming of Jesus Christ....Because those who criticize us love this present world and not the kingdom of God. For them, this present world is their home and they really don't want to leave. For them, the scripture that says "here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come" is for people who are "so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly good." I would suggest, however, that our critics are so worldly minded that they are of no heavenly good.

Those kind of sermons are always compelling whether there is any truth in them or not.

Or even worse yet. About the time I've worked, struggled and fought to get all my bills paid and the mortgage burned, ready to enjoy the fruits of my labor, he THEN comes. I would be in favor of him coming BEFORE I get the bills paid. LOL!
Or, if I knew for sure he was coming in two years, it might be tempting to borrow to the hilt, take a world tour for two years and just enjoy myself. Would there be anything wrong with THAT idea?

If he said it why would anyone put stock into it?
It is funny how these ministers when they start getting into their 60's.
They must see their own humanity getting frail and tired.
They want to believe what they gave their whole life too.
So they get this idea that God is coming back so they will not have to taste death...
Who knows it might have been more significant if KP were 33 years old...

Bro. Phillips has been saying for years that the Lord is coming back sooner rather than later, and routinely makes statements like, "I'm ready to get outta here" or "We aren't going to be here much longer." It's not really a direct PROPHECY on his part, just his mindset.
He looks forward to the Lord returning, and talks about it often. It's not anymore complex than that.

There are a lot of men that use that same verbage in their preaching. I know one old preacher that when he's praying uses language like....
"It getting late, Lord, it's getting late"...
He's been using the same words as longs as I have known him.
It's just the way they talk and preach. I agree with the sister that there probably is no serious prophecying in it!

I'm not sure what you mean by "sad."
Like I said, he doesn't say it in a manner in which he would be actually predicting or prophesying. It's more of an attitude of looking forward to the coming of the Lord. My grandmother and my father used the same phrases--my Dad was SURE the Lord would come before I grew up and left home...LOL!!!

That's been preached for a long time.
"There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."
Let's face it! If it had been someone like Irvin Baxter who prophesied we'd be at war with China in a certain time, of which he did prophecy that, then I would call this man a false prophet. But if it is rhetoric then I quess you just tolerate it!

I grew up with a pastor who continually reminded us that the coming of the Lord was near or soon or different adjectives like that. He preached about Heaven and the Rapture of the Church a lot. I respected that and fully believe that we should keep ourselves looking forward to the "blessed hope" that Titus mentioned because no man knows the day or hour when He'll return. It serves as encouragement and hope while we go about His business on Earth.
My problem is when it becomes a repetitive escape-based theology. When the country faces war or hard times, it shouldn't constantly be a "Lord come get us all so we can get out of this mess" message, IMO. I don't think that presents life more abundantly through Jesus Christ to a lost world very well. It takes on a scared, worrisome, defeated religion at a certain point, IMO.
I'd run, not walk, away from a pastor/teacher/evangelist that set any kind of timeline or date. It's irresponsible at best and falsehood at worst. When a minister puts any type of date or time on the coming of the Lord, even if it's a "think so" or "believe so" or some type of opinion, it can damage the ministers credability.

It is the evill servant that says in his heart, "my Lord delays his coming".
I do not think that our hope pertains to this present world. Our Lord testified that he was not of this world.
"And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world."

particularly because even God's own son did not know the day.
Mk 13:32
"But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."
Day and hour....only the Father knows...angels don't, neither the Son.
Seasons and times....maybe we can know.
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
What are we soberly watching for?

It appears that this guy you mention is merely walking from right to left ....I do not believe that there is any intent to "dance" or have rhythm.....To saunter is to have a leisurely walk or stroll....Rhythm is not a requirement. :thumbsup

Is that the black man with no rhythm in the pink pants suit ?
and in a music video too?
he had the white shoes, but the shoes apparently didn't have him!
