Did you hear that Bro V Morton is no longer on the District board in california ?????

another Pastor in that area was voted in as Presbyter.

i'm not sure what went down Yet. im not sure if it was health related, or if he got voted out, If he ran, OR if this is yet another step out of the UPC???

Health is probably the main factor.

i really do not know. some say he is probably too old and invested too much while others think it's imminent depending on the TV vote.

I guess i can see both ways.... how many churches has he started there? I know it's quite a bit.... does he pastor several or just one?

Shocking!:coffee2 :usa

That is like the Pope leaving an Episocopal meeting.
Like Hillary Clinton leaving an all male golf club.
Like Wholehearted leaving a bowling alley.
Like Coop....well...er....never mind.

I get the joke now that you pointed this out but before I was a little shocked since Koresh was having sex with 13 year old girls in his cult and the wives of cult members.

On the surface it seemed like a pretty bad inference but now I see what caused you to make the Waco connection. Nothing sinsister, just the word Branch.

Bad joke. Weak attempt, but CC1 was correct. Nothing could be closer to 9 million miles away wrong.

When I think of Waco, I think of weird cults, bumbling government agencies, and extremists...not sexual immorality with 13 yrs olds. (I know it happened, but I really don't think about that)...so I-90, I got your humor.

BTW...to me, the whole metal watch band thing and pantyhose and shiny belt buckles...while its not sick like Waco, its just as weird as most cults to me...sorry, not trying to be confrontational, just my opinion.

While I don't agree with the anti-sports crowd, I can better understand their theology because of dress standards, it doesn't ring as weird to me.

The reason I thought of it was that I lived just 90 miles away during all of that and it had tremendous media coverage.

I have said that David Koresh should be recognized and honored as the greatest salesman of the 20th century.

If you were a man here is what you had to agree to if you wanted to be a Branch Davidian and live at the Koresh Compound.;

1. Live in Waco Texas in buildings with no air conditioning (96-105 degrees all summer long). Only one area in the compound had A/C. Yup, you guessed it, David Koresh'es private living / sleeping quarters.

2. All Branch Davidians were required to get up at 4 or 5 am and do rigeorous
exercise routines in the yard (except for David Koresh who slept till around
noon in his air conditioned bedroom)

3. You could not have sex with your wife BUT David Koresh could whenever he wished.

4. David Koresh could take your daugther, as young as 13, for sexual relations.

How he sold all that I have no idea. It just shows that there are groups of people so desperate for structure they will obey anything.

Did I miss something here?Conversation on another Ucon church in Arizona in another thread. This is what was posted as the norm in THAT church. The comparisons to Waco (in cultish behavior-NOT SEXUAL) reminded me that I get the same "vibe" when I hear of Ucons preaching this way. Again, not to confront, I just get a bad vibe, as I'm sure they do when I use a distorted guitar.
