We are getting large bed bug outbreaks.

Instead of allowing Ohio to use an effective eradication agent, Jackson offers $550,000 in “community outreach” funds, saying — I kid you not — “education and outreach are key components to bed bug control on a community-wide basis.”

Education and outreach. Wow.
Soon they will ban fly swatters and spend thousands on education and outreach for them.

Lisa Jackson is running the EPA. What a fine world.

I have a friend who lives in a co-op in New Jersey. He had to move his cat over to a friend's in Brooklyn last week when the co-op brought in an exterminator to investigate and remove a bedbug invasion. Apparently they caught it very early--only one mattress in one unit was infested.

I know when I went on vacation recently I was a bit paranoid about it, hearing that even nice, upscale hotels have bedbugs now. I experienced no problems, however. Still the whole idea of going to a five star hotel and then bringing home some unwanted bloodsucking hitchhikers ... YIKES.

Many suites hotels under a certain price point do not change all linens daily unless you check out.

As a courtesy to the next guest, please wash the linens and towels before you check out, using the coin laundry down the hall. Thank you.

They may be pressured to not kill, kill the bed bugs. Just catch and release.

bed bugs have rights and have feelings also.

we share the planet with them.

we need to be more considerate of them as fellow creatures here on earth.

"Education and outreach" are in fact an essential means of stopping the spread. If people would inspect the furniture they move in and know where to look to find the bed bug nests then eradication would expand exponentially.

Relying only on "professional" exterminators (or worse!) the gobbernent won't solve any kind of a problem. People need to be empowered to take control of their own lives and problems.
