What say ye? Does your pastor still preach against sex before dinner? Why are so many falling away and enjoying a little afternoon delight? Is this a sign of the end times?

Well, he didn't say the preacher said it was a sin - just that it was preached against.

Its been a few years ago but I can remeber tha basic point was not fullfilling the lust of the eye. The old men arevisual thing was used. " If a man wants to have sex in the daylight or with the lights on he is doing it in order to see your nakedness and is fulfilling the lust of the eye instaed of out of love"! This was adressed to the married women!

Sister, I agree with you 99% of the time, but I would have to disagree with you on this point. We have a horrible lack of knowledge in the church regarding sex. When my husband and I got married, we were recommended a book (whispered) by a friend by Tim LaHaye called "The Act of Marriage". This was such an incredible help to us, who understood the mechanics of sex, but didn't know enough about each other nor the importance of it to a marriage (particulary after the hormones slow down).

yes I agree we need teaching in churches in all areas and I have bought hundreds of marriage books for our couples here in Brazil...but there is a time and place for it...in fact I do lots of seminars here in Brazil on such subjects but I don't think some statements should be used before the whole church...Can you imagine reading The Act of Marriage before the church on Sunday Nights....
that is what I am trying to express...
I am all the way for helping people and my laptop is full of things I have done for classes.
However I have been in services when statements were made...a woman's place is in the bedroom....and all kinds of foolish things.
I think (this is only a personal opinion) that there is far too much ignorance in Pentecost...
I paid a woman doctor to come talk to my ladies...of course in some circles I would be crucified...especially since she was not a Pentecostal...however my ladies did not need a Pentecostal they needed some advice from a doctor...
I hope I am making sense....

I think she was referring to the stupid things that were being preached like no sex in the daylight and only certain positions.
Plus - I'm not sure I think sex needs to be "preached" about, but more in a teaching/learning enviornment in classes - - not to the whole church on Sunday.
Bad example - - pastor here in Memphis set up a bedroom on the platform, wore his silk pj's and his wife came in wearing her bedroom attire - - he got pretty plain with the folks, but it was SUNDAY MORNING.....

My MIL (history In Pentecost) didn't feel like it should be talked about at all, except between a husband and wife, "you can figure it out.." she said

Yeah...I don't really want my children having sex ed on Sunday mornings, and I don't want to endure blunt comments in a mixed crowd. However, the occasional casual reference to a healthy sex life doesn't hurt anyone--just as long as it doesn't get explicit.

1. Kudos for trying to address the issue, but
2. It was in REALLY bad taste.

Pastor A.R. Williams Shows The Women Of His Church 'How to Keep Their Husbands So The Hoe Don't Get Him'
Members of World Overcomers were shocked on last Sunday morning when they entered the place where they assemble to worship God. In the pulpit was a Queen sized bed draped in burgundy and gold.
Members were wondering why the place that normally Pastor Alton R. Williams preaches the word of God from had turned into a large bedroom, when he entered wearing a robe and pajama pants with his bible in hand. the lights are dimmed, mode music is playing,Williams at this point lays on the bed reading from the Songs of Solomon.
While still reading the bible his wife Sherrilyn enters the sanctuary wearing a long red feathered seductive fitting gown. Mrs. Williams very seductively walks across the pulpit turn bedroom and sits on the bed next to her husband. She closes his bible and begins to rub on him, and then lefts him from the bed and very passionately embraces and kisses him. Pastor Williams whose Sunday morning freak session is designed to save marriages tells the women in the congregation 'This is how to keep your husband so the Hoe don't get him'.
In my opinion A.R. Williams has gone to far, the pastor who spent $260,000 to build a statue that reminds you of the Statue Of Liberty has lost his God focus and now become an entertainer willing to do anything to keep fleecing his flock of their money so that he can continue to live his luxury lifestyle.
In a time that people in the community need the Word of God for deliverance from their plights by allowing the word to get them up and motivated to make changes in their lives, this fool wants to hold Sunday morning sex classes. What about salvation and the saving of souls? I guess with New Directions Church being less than a mile away Williams is losing members which means that he is losing dollars.

What a joke.
Have you ever looked at Fox News verses MSN? I find it interesting that on the more "conservative" website, there is more stuff about Pop Tarts and porn stars and the "sexpert" and all that stuff.

Western culture? In some cultures, I've heard of brothers who ask the others how marriage is going and specifically will ask about sex. They say this is living in perfect community, respecting but also completely trusting one another. So is your opinion an absolute or could this be cultural? The group I have in mind think this is a Gospel issue, and think those who keep everything to themselves are not fully living Gospeled lives. Imagine that :)

No, I am a bit uncomfortable, which is why I posted about fox news (conservatives) posting more sex stuff than MSN. Kind of ironic. On the flipside, conservatives get so much negative press about sex, I wouldn't want to kabosh all sex talk either. Still, I think the repression causes kind of a funny backlash.

Well I think if comes down to the fact that, like eating, most adults are doing it. Some people have a problem with it (Overeating/porn/adultery, ect), and there are very few issues that touch ALL people. Religion doesn't, being rich or poor doesn't, the environment doesn't- so if you are trying to reach a majority of your audience, it only makes sense to use information, and headlines that grab a majority of people.
Just a thought
sex before dinner,
after dinner,
during dinner,
instead of dinner,
any time is all right in my opinion.
In my opinion Hebrews 13:4 says that marriage is honorable but adultery/infidelity is wrong. It also says that the marriage bed is undefiled. In my opinion that means that whatever two consenting marriage partners do is OK and it is none of my business and we all should stay out of their bedroom and leave them alone.

It was called Sodomy. The abomination part is described and the pride, haughtiness, and others issues were in addition to the sodomy.
Most commentators and language scholars recognize this feature of Jude’s remark, as evinced by their treatment of Jude 7. For example, the New Analytical Greek Lexicon defines heteros in Jude 7 as “illicit” (Perschbacher, 1990, p. 177). Williams identified “strange flesh” as “unnatural vice” (1960, p. 1023). Barclay wrote: “What the men of Sodom were bent on was unnatural sexual intercourse, homosexual intercourse, with Lot’s two visitors. They were bent on sodomy, the word in which their sin is dreadfully commemorated” (1958, p. 218). Alford correctly translated the Greek as “other flesh,” and defined the phrase as “[other] than that appointed by God for the fulfillment of natural desire” (1875, 4:533

3:4 uncover his feet: Ruth would remove the edge of Boaz’s outer garment from his feet and lie down by his uncovered feet. Touching and holding his feet was an act of submission. This was a daring and dramatic action that would call for a decision on his part to be her protector—and, likely, her husband.
Radmacher, E. D., Allen, R. B., & House, H. W. (1997). The Nelson study Bible : New King James Version (Ru 3:4). Nashville: T. Nelson Publishers.
Some commentators suggest that what Ruth did presented an opportunity for immorality. But nothing in the passage supports this. Her mother-in-law had complete confidence in the integrity of the kinsman-redeemer. Boaz could be trusted to act responsibly. And Ruth was recognized by everyone as “a woman of noble character” (v. 11). The uncovering of the feet was a ceremonial act that was completely proper. Probably the scene took place in the dark so that Boaz had the opportunity to reject the proposal without the whole town knowing about it.

Not reading anywhere in hear any prohibition about any kind of husband/wife sex:
"'The sin of your sister Sodom was this: She lived with her daughters in the lap of luxury—proud, gluttonous, and lazy. They ignored the oppressed and the poor. They put on airs and lived obscene lives. And you know what happened: I did away with them
Even KJV, ESV and NIV don't render any specific kind of sex act.
'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. 51 Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done. 52 Bear your disgrace, for you have furnished some justification for your sisters. Because your sins were more vile than theirs, they appear more righteous than you. So then, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.

Either way, what you feel is not necessarily a reality.
If God has designated areas for sexuality, then you better not be a Monica Lewisnky-ite in your marriage bed either. And there goes much of foreplay as well.
Furthermore, tell that to the centuries of Greek culture that valued that in the marriage bed.

It doesn't mention the specific crimes but we know they were abominations
Eze 16:50 They were haughty and committed abominable crimes before me. So, when I saw it, I removed them.
Abominations include homosexual behavior under the law
That's a bold assumption that KJV interpreters would have "covered" for God in areas they disagreed with morally. I wonder if they included David and Bathsheba's indiscretion?
Yes, they did include David and Bathsheba's indiscretion.
And they did include the Song of Solomon.
All I'm saying is that they were influenced by the time in which they lived and also they had to keep that new translation acceptable for public reading in the Anglican Church. So they included the English phrase "God save the King" because that is what was spoken at the coronation of English kings, they used the word "church" instead of assembly because the Bible was to be read in Anglican Churches, and they used the words "baptize" and "baptism" instead of immerse or dip or plunge into or plunge under because "baptism" was a liturgical word for a specific religious act.
Several times the term "uncover nakedness" is used for sexual activity.
What I was trying to say is that the Hebrew may have said that Ruth crept onto the threshing floor and lay at Boaz's feet and he actually did spread his cloak over her to cover her up just for warmth. I don't know if she crawled up on him and began to hug around on him or not and he spread his blanket/cloak over her for privacy. They may or may not have had sexual activity. I don't honestly know. The Hebrew may have been referring to a custom from 1000 BC that the scholars of 1600 AD did not understand.
...
