It seems to me that everyone is always slamming the ways of the UPCI on this forum. I was wondering how come the ALJC always gets away clean on this forum? Do the have more satisfied customers so to speak?

In some cases Yes. It depends on how much UPC influence is in that local assembly.:winkgrin

The number of people who are or were UPC is much higher than those who are or were ALJC.

Isn't the ALJC a much smaller organization?

Does the SBC, Catholic, Charismatics and Methodist church have as many problems as UPC??

I was not born yesterday. I have fellowshipped with Baptists, Lutherans and Mennonites enough to know it's primarily a people problem.

Since the ALJC has never had a prohibition against preaching on TV I have always wondered what would have happened if Kenneth Phillips and Mark Hanby had become members back in 1977 rather than going independent.

Since both were great evangelists it is possible they could have been vessels of great revival within that org. and it could have seen great growth while at the same time giving those two pastors of large churches a structure to operate within.

(yes I know all about MH's failures but I am just speculating about what might have been)

ALJC from what I can tell has never had an Affirmation Statement and that caused issues in the UPCI. The ALJC is not near as large so there are somethings that the ALJC doesn't have to deal with because of the size of the membership. PUFF DADDY had it right, More Money(people) More Problems. ALJC is not perfect. I grew up ALJC so I know what it has been like for most all of my life. There is no perfet Org, ALJC included. Legalism is not just a UPCI thing (shout out to Mr. Smith). IMO, most of any Orgs issues are born in legalism and not from too much balance and legalism.

The copy of the Constitution and bylaws of the ALJC that I have is from 2007. I don’t know if these rules have changed since then.

on page 28 under Ministry
8. No minister affiliated with us shall be permitted to hold papers
with any other chartered organization or association. Exception shall
be accepted in cases of property protection.

on page 29
SECTION 4. RULES AND OBLIGATIONS
1. Our ministers may conduct meetings in any city and for any
church, regardless of its organizational ties, in the Oneness movement,
as long as the conduct of both the church and its pastor is in
harmony with godly living and Christian ethics.

Comments
I assume most organizations have a rule like this which does not allow ministers to hold license with more than one organization at a time.

When I was licensed with the ALJC I was glad they had this in their manual. I was glad they were not as restirctive as the UPC in their rule about not holing a meeting in a city without the consent of the local UPC minister first.

The upci had a spell where they enticed solid aljc churches to switch organizations. Really classless way of building numbers.

Nope. They have their issues too.

The problems are rooted in our humanity. No system is perfect when human beings are a part of it or leading it. It's a human problem. All denominations have their issues.

Even precious little house churches have their issues.

All organizations have problems. The bigger the organization, but more visible their problems.
