I hope he's happy! I know it's important at that age to have someone to share your life with because they are not use to being alone.

That's so sweet about the couple in your church!

I say more power to him. I am happy for anyone who finds a companion to share their life with.
AHH- so romantic!!!! Good luck to the happy couple. Both of them.

thad, I think it is wonderful and I understand everyone has such respect and love for this lady.

I think it is kinds a double standard because he asked his people who have a spouse to die to at least wait a couple years and divorcees as well 2 years.

I guess when it happens to you its a little different ! lol

men can't be alone, you know that!!!!! they are lonely big babies! my husband hates to be at the house without me here, kinda crazzzy! lol

well, its like when your family needs mercy you want it, but until then, some can be pretty hard on fok.

the sweet about the couple in your church, how cute!

Welcome, TyHuff! His reluctance to adhere to the two year standard may have to do with his advanced age. Maybe he thinks he won't be here in two years?
:dunno

If I was in the twilight of my years I would want someone for companionship I guess.

Yea i know what you mean HUffy. Our Dist Supt Bro Price told all the pastors they had to wait one year at least but almost none of them obeyed. when his wife died he waited over 2 years which i thought was commendable.

I don't know why the women get all fuzzy about these things

Thad,

BTW it is L.H. Hardwick not H.L.

Yup the wedding was last Sunday afternoon. When I found out that three preachers were doing the wedding (our two former Associate Pastors, Paul Russell and Phillip Goldsberry plus current Co Pastor Dan Scott) I thought we were going to be in for a long evening.

I was pleasently surprised that the entire wedding lasted only about 30-35 minutes! Shortest wedding I have ever seen in Pentecost.

It was very classy and as usual Bro. Hardwick was serious and funny at various times. Since the wedding was just a week after we lost a young minister on our church staff in a terrible accident along with the 25 year old daughter of an elder when the preacher said "for better of for worse" Bro. Hardwick interrupted and said with a smile "It's not going to get any worse!".

The reception was a simple affair with a large cake and since there were several thousand people there they also had, of all things, Krispy Kreme donuts decoratively stacked on silver tray / stands with silver tongs to pick them up. I never actually got a piece of cake but did enjoy a donut!

Thad, I don't know about six weeks for the honeymoon. I heard a month but in any case it is a long one. I am glad Bro. Hardwick has finally, at age 75, decided to enjoy life a little while his health is still good.

After pastoring Christ Church for 55 years with much of the early years being a struggle with him working full time and pastoring it is nice to see him get to enjoy his sunset years.

Carol looked absolutely amazing - like a princess in pink! They had a flower girl, ring bearer (grandson of the Hardwicks) and three attendants each. It was a very sweet ceremony, and a huge reception. I finally got to hug Carol and Bro. H., but it took forever to get to them. I wish I had taken my camera with me!

Some people are thinking they might cut their honeymoon shorter than originally planned, just because of all the grief at Christ Church right now over the two deaths. I think six weeks was being told originally, but I don't think it was ever really that long. They are visiting Spain and some other European countries and then spending some time in Florida, from what I understood.

As much as I loved Montelle Hardwick, I'm glad to see that Bro. Hardwick and Carol are together. They are two of the finest people that I know!

I served a couple who were shopping at Blessings last week and they were so much in love! It was a 2nd marriage for each of them. Their previous spouses had both died and they met totally unplanned and unexpected when he came to fix the roof at her house. :)

They fell in love and got married and are so excited and it was easy to tell that they were so happy to be together.

I thought ..... "How awesome ... and what a testimony to the fact that that kind of "falling in love" thing can happen even in a couple's senior years!" because this couple had to be right around 70 I'd say.

I too am happy for Bro. Hardwick and wish the newly married couple all the best!

I forgot to add that when the groom kissed his bride it was no "platonic" kiss that you might expect from some 75 year old!!!!

Of course Pastor Hardwick does not look or act 75 in any way I know. He seems in excellent health and could pass for 55.

Montelle Hardwick has been dead 13.5 months. Does that meet your approval?

What exactly is a "respectable length of time"? I have a feeling this subject is like dress lengths. One man's respectable is another man's sin.

Obviously I would need a shoulder to lean on!

I had an interesting conversation with a preacher after the wedding. His thoughts were that either his pretty younger bride would energize Pastor Hardwick and he will be motivated for years or he will drop dead in six months but die very, very happy!!!

Just a thought but I was having this discussion with my mom in law today.
There is a commercial out where the guy is driving a new chrysler and he is
all enthralled with it.Then the guy says that they are also trading his wife for the new beautiful woman sitting in the passenger seat.My pop in law says he is going to run down and get that car.My daughter made mentioned that Grandma might want to get one that gives her a younger man.It was then said that
the older man getting the younger woman is a deal but the older woman getting the twenty five year old man is getting someone else to clean up after all over again. No was the chimed in answer to that one.:highfive

Future Home of Gracepointe, Pastor Stan Mitchell.

I see they finaly landed some property. It looks long and narrow. Just land no structure yet that I could see from the road.

tyhuff,

Nope, I didn't see Stan The Man. Last summer I saw him at Home Depot in Franklin though!

Somehow I was not surprised at him not showing up for the wedding. I wondered if she showed up for Montelle's funeral. I remember looking for him and didn't see him but of course there were thousands of people there. I heard he did at least come to the visitation before the funeral though.
