Sherri

Am I the only one that hates strawberries???? The Mrs. just told me that I am the only person she knows of that doesn't like strawberries, and I've had others tell me that too. Is there anyone else out there that thinks they are hairy and gross? I cannot stand the smell of them or the feel either. I get heebie-jeebies just thinking of them. Anyone else????

I don't like those either, unless they're cooked and blended up into puree or tomato sauce. Maybe it's an aversion to red foods; has to be something psychological!:nod

I like potato chips (unfortunately!!!!), but I'm not especially fond of french fries. I will eat fried potatoes if they are very, very brown. But I only eat the brown part. I hate anything that goes mush in my mouth.

I love raspberries and blackberries, but I do hate the seeds.Strawberry seeds are so tiny you don't even know they're there. Raspberries are different though. The seeds are larger and hard - crunchy. Can't stand them at all.

I don't mind blackberries though. The texture of blackberries is a little different.

My son has an abundance of allergies. His allergist told us a long time ago that if he (or anyone) doesn't like a certain food, we should not force it on him. It is very likely that his body is telling him that he is allergic to it.

He hates peanut butter and/or peanuts. He's only tasted it twice in his life. Both times he spit it out without swallowing. Still he ended up with a severe allergic reaction both times. In fact, the second time, we had to have the Squad take him to the hospital. On the way they had to give him 3 shots of Epi. At the hospital they gave him Benedryl via IV, Ventolin in a nebulizer, oxygen, and MORE Epi.

Now he hates peas. When I talked to the allergist about it, it turns out that peas are in the same family as peanuts and if you are allergic to peanuts, it is highly likely that you will also be allergic to peas.

So, Sherri, who knows? Maybe you have some sort of allergy to strawberries and you don't even know about it because you hate them and so refuse to eat them.

I HATE strawberries. And if you think hard enough, you will remember someone who used to (and may still) bake everyone heart shaped strawberry cakes for valentines day. I would take mine, smile, say thank you, (I was the good daughter-n-law, she just doesn't want to admit it), and take it to the girls at work. It was a big joke at the office that she probably knew I didn't like it and enjoyed giving it to me anyway!!

As picky of an eater as your hubby is, does he like the nasty things???

Oh yeah, pineapple rocks! I've never tasted mango, but I love pineapple. And what's weird, I didn't really care for them until my daughter got pregnant and craved pineapple and I got to eating them with her. I really developed a taste for them. I don't care if they're canned, as in Dole or Delmonte, etc -- or fresh fruit. I like them both.

The purple outside layer is there to protect the fruit (white) inside. It has a slightly hard outter shell, and then the red pulpy outter pod. The fruit is similar in size and appearance to a tangerine, except it's white. It is much smoother in texture than a citrus fruit though. I can't really explain what one tastes like, but it's like a bunch of tropical fruits all rolled into one. I LOVE mangos and thought a mango was the most delicious thing in the world...until I tasted a mangosteen. Definitely THE most delicious thing I've ever eaten.

The mangosteen is known as the 'Queen of Fruits'. I had these while in Singapore, so I don't know if they are even available over here in the US.
