Today (Sunday) marks 10 years for us being in Salina, KS as pastor.

It's been a wild ride, let me tell you, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. God has brought us through so much, but more importantly, He has TAUGHT us so much more.

To me, it is amazing that He could take 2 young, dumb, Jesus freaks, and make something out of them. (well, at least He did the Skinner, He's still working on me....) He's been better to me, than anything else I know, to borrow from a song.

We have found love and been loved far more than we ever deserve. These people are wonderful and have made our time in Salina the greatest. They have stood with us through good times, bad times, in times of sickness, trouble, joy, sadness, laughter, growing pains, times of indecision, and just plain ole ignorance at "running" a church. They are going to get more jewels in their crowns, than they know what to do with. It will be so heavy they have to carry it instead of wear it!!!!

Sometimes God sends you somewhere to "build a church" but sometimes He sends you somewhere to "make a man ( and woman.) Sometimes I've wondered if He hadn't dropped us in the desert to fend for ourselves, and then I've wondered if He hadn't completely lost His mind, cause, I sure didn't know what He was doing or where we were going, but, I have to say, HE DOES!!!!!

What a tremendous blessing to be called of God to be the shepherd over a flock. It's not always easy, not always, fun and pleasant, but ALWAYS worth it. I wouldn't trade "professions" if I could. I love being a pastor's wife. They on the other hand probably wish I would get another job, but....fat chance on that.:tease :tease :tease

Anyway, we're gonna HAVE SOME CHURCH TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sis. C...

Bishop William Parent once said, "God never calls us that He doesn't supply and equip us for the task."

Everything we will ever need to perform His will is already at our fingertips, but often it is the making and molding of the man or woman that must precede this taking place.

Understanding this, we can take great comfort in that God always knows what He is doing, and He surely did when He sent y'all to Salina. The people intrusted into your care will be forever grateful that you came their way.

Congratulations on your anniversary and may God continue to bless the work of your hands, adding strength for the journey and grace in the heat of the day.

God bless you and Elder, your family, and church family...:kittyhug

Congrats Lady Coon.....Seems such a huge testimony that you guys went to Salina so late in life. 10 Years already...and you guys have aged so well. When most men are thinking of retireing you guys jumped into it. To think 10 years ago you were dark headed and in your 40's....now here you are 10 years later and a little grayer...but wiser none the less. Again...my hats off to you and yours. May God bless you as you enter into the twilight of your ministry. All my love..Bro. NLYP

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs Coon on their 10th year as the Pastor to some of the most blessed people under the sun. Truly the blessing is that of the parishners, far more that a blessing to their Bishop.

Yes, I know that God has tested and stretched you all in every possible way for the past ten years. You have stood the test. You have proven faithful, trustworthy and determined in the struggle for the cause of God in the place that the cloud-by-day has led you to camp. God's approval rests upon you all.

Ten reprents "all." You have given your all. God is preparing to enlarge the increase both naturally and spiritually. Do not listen for the loud, always present "uncertain" sound. But rather, listen to the ever present still small voice that speaks ever so softly within the midst of the clamour of voices.

I will continue to pray that my friends, whom I've never met, will continue to prove to be everything that God has trusted them to be.
