My definition of FAITH!

Faith is not what we see. BUT it is what we take hold of, and though unseen, we hold onto, UNTIL that which we do not see, we DO SEE! Based on Heb. 11:1

Believing and trusting the Lord in spite of what circumstances are saying.

My thought is similar to both of yours. :thumbsup

Faith is ability to believe what God has said without visible or physical evidence, showing trust in His Word as infallible. Without a trust in His Word, we cannot relate to God, for faith is simply a must in dealing with God. That means at some point all we can stand on is trust that He is true!

Dan Segraves once said (Not an exact quote but as close as I remember), faith is trusting God to be God. I don't manipulate him with mental gymnastics. I don't believe hard enough to make it happen.

Not to disagree with anything said above but faith is literal substance. It's tangible. It's the substance that the world was made out of...though it is not in the same form as before it was corrupted by the fall.

It is something that you can stand on too.

SubStance....

Sub....that which is beneath.

Stance...a position you take on a matter.

Substance is its own evidence. It can be introduced into an angelic court of law to give witness on a matter. This evidence is such that it will either acquit, or condemn. It will also manifest creation.
