“In Season 2… The accuracy of the reported results is still disputed. There was much discussion in the communication industry about the phone system being overloaded, and that more than 150 million votes were dropped, making the voting suspect”

People may vote multiple times throughout the American Idol season; regardless the quantity of votes is still pretty staggering. The number of true “unique” voters during an A.I. season is somewhat fuzzy, but it would probably be pretty safe to say that there are more unique A.I. voters than those who bothered to show up and vote for President Bush at 62 million. Stats to take with a grain of salt.

So are you saying the presidential candidates should compete with a talent and we could vote them off until we have a winner??????

They report the number at each "going home" show.

I would say most people voting vote numerous times. As it relates to the presidential election....I think there is more convenience voting at your phone than driving somewhere to vote for a candidate you may or may not like.

May have a different election if voting was done by dialing 1-866-VOTEREP

If they made voting for President easy as making a phone call then I'm sure there'd be a higher turnout.
