We went to a regional GNCM event yesterday and today in Nashville and I want to say that it was wonderful!! Great fellowship and very needed teaching. We were disillusioned with Global for a while, and kind of dropped away, but lately it's been great. The whole feel is more energized and younger and more progressive than it used to be. Scott Jones is a fantastic leader and he has moved it into a whole new direction.
Also, there are now over 530 members of GNCM - it's really growing! I'm impressed!

I noticed that. Did it just cut me off? I could have sworn I typed the whole thing. :foottap

That does not surprise me. I heard Global folks do swear quite heavily!
Sherri, did Christ Church host the event or was it somewhere else?

What was the teaching about?
A young pastor who lives near me left the UPC and joined Global last year. He has a small church meeting in his home and it was just costing him too much to stay in the UPC while receiving "nothing" from them.

We had dinner at Saffire restaurant Friday nightm- in the Factory Bldg. Scott Jones spoke a little that night. Then Saturday morning, we met in Oasis church - in a fellowship hall type room. It was a small group - because it was just one Region.
I got to meet Russ Taft! I've loved to hear him sing for many years! It was an honor to meet him; he's a personal friend of Scott's.

What was the teaching about?Practical teaching on recruiting volunteers, and a great session on keeping balance in all areas of your life, etc. etc.

Sherri, did you know that Tim Rutledge recently started a church that is meeting at The Factory in Franklin? He was UPC until he started that church from what I understand.
I believe he is a 3 stepper and while not holding to a lot of the "standards" of the UPC I saw a post where he was advocating uncut hair on women. Maybe now that he is untethered from the Mothership he will give that doctrine a new independent Bible study!

Mega Dittos, Global is in great hands with Scott Jones. We missed the event in California, things were tight that week, but we are encouraged by what is happening.
