Who can really complain, BP still has 20 billion set aside for claims that will be coming for many years to come. Its a standard deduction that is available to all tax payers. I say don't blame BP, blame the tax code.
You may be right, I dunno. But it just doesn't seem right.

Well, if they are truley being stingy with the reembursments then that needs to be handled through the courts. But the write off is legal.
Lots of immoral things are legal when you are making millions. :)

Seems like a reasonable deduction to me. It's large scale because they're a large company and it was a huge disaster. I don't think they should have to pay taxes on their loss.
