I can't drink straight soda of any kind and haven't for a couple years now. I take a sip now and then, but it's nasty!

I will add a little soda in my lemonade or fruit punch when I'm at a restaurant, but I can't take a lot of it. Just enough to give it a 'kick'.

:Hmmm

I enjoy Coke Zero. All the corrosive burning of Coke without carbs or calories.

I have not seen if it will eat raw meat or nails like real coke yet.

I do know I have to watch for it on sale. Coke sold for $399 a 24 pack last week. Coke Zero was $450 for 12. PLUS CRV of a nickel a can. I heard Walgreen's has a sale all month for $2 off.

Headed there tonight.

Oh, and IF you are saved YOU do NOT drink Pepsi products!

It started out to be just quit for a year and I just haven't started back up.

Even better than that I haven't pealed off my finger nails (not the whole thing just the parts you would clip) in almost a year. That's a modified biting of the fingernails to those who were wondering.

Coke is the real thing!
It is also known as the good man's drink!

I don't know how people could do those blind taste tests and not know what they are drinking.
Put a blindfold on me and I'll tell ya wether it is Pepsi, RC Cola, Dad's, Uncle Bens, Generic or otherwise, New Taste Coke-and the one, the only, the original Coke!

Barb, my boys are on my case all the time about the pop. They call it like it is. They tell me, "Mom, you are addicted. It's as bad as someone who smokes or drinks alcohol." WHEW!! But you know what? They're probably right. I just haven't gotten to the point where I see it as sin, like I do the other things. so.......................

I have been trying to drink more water. But I'm not ready to give up the pop yet. :( Someday ------------- maybe.

Since I quit caffeine three years ago, I can't have sweet tea or even diet drinks anymore at restaurants (except for Chick Fil-et and Steak & Shake). So it has made me drink more water for sure. But at home, I keep Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi--it's my favorite. It has more zing than Diet Coke. I absolutely CANNOT drink the real stuff; too sweet!! I also make Caffeine free iced tea at home, so I can at least enjoy it there.

Barb, going off caffeine was about the hardest thing I've ever done. I know I was addicted to it. We will permit you to "backslide" every once in a while though.:praying

Barb, that's good advice. One thing I have been doing is replacing my afternoon Diet Coke with my own concoction. I have a huge Weight Watchers glass that holds something like 32 oz. I fill it about 1/3 of the way full with water and then dump in one of those sugar free to-go packets, then a glass of ice, then top it all off with some Diet Sprite. That's very good. I think I'm going to start drinking alot more of that and alot less of the DC. And then gradually, I will cut back on the amount of Diet Sprite I'm adding.

You're a wise woman to swear off of the pop. I commend you for it.

Barb, I lost almost 80 lbs from Nov 2005- July 2006. Have not had a soda since Nov 2005.

I went from 245 to 173.

My neighbors thought I was my 16 year old son.

I have since gone up to 192.

However, I feel so much better without drinking soda.

Straight Coke and freezing cold was my choice.

You actually made me taste it when I read your thread...

I think food is the greatest (most horrible) addiction known to man.
A person just can't quit eating. So its not like crack or alcohol or cigarretes, you must walk a fine line every single day.

In our culture, it is extremely hard to practice temperance due to the fact that most events incorporate food as part of the fellowship. I am not copping out here, just stating that it is extremely difficult to stay healthy, and practice temperance.

I totally agree. I was a huge diet coke fanantic but read a book dealing with poor American food choices and quit for a couple months, but alas I too gave into temptation. I have once again said "no" to diet coke, but it calls your name.
I recently read a statement indicating that drinking diet coke causes people to gain weight. How can this be? You mean you can't eat a Snickers with your diet coke?
I find it hardest to resist when eating out. I love coffee, but it doesn't go with every meal, imo. Maybe I'll turn into an iced tea addict instead.:heeheehee
