Matthew 24:29-31
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give forther her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all fhte trives of the earth mourn, and they shall see the son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matthew 24:22
And except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
The elect in this passage. Jews or the church?

Judge for yourself since below I show every instance of the term in its use in epistles after the Gospels:
Rom 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Col 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
1Ti 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
2Ti 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
2Jn 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2Jn 1:13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

After reading every reference to ELECT in the NT, who do you think the elect are?

After reading every reference to ELECT in the NT, who do you think the elect are?
The elect are both Jew and Gentile together to become the body of Christ. After the cross and before for that matter the elect were those that followed God regardless of nationality. The Jews were just the nation God worked through that were to be the example to the world.
When we understand this we see that what was a natural nation of Abrahams seed has become a spiritual nation of all those born of faith in the work of the cross.
By the time of Christ the natural Jew was not of the same mind set of Abraham as seen when Jesus told the religious leaders of that day, "if you were of the seed of Abraham you would hear my words" but because you don't hear my words you are not of the seed of Abraham.

Good post, Godsdrummer!
Also Galatians 3:16
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
It was through Christ that all the families of the earth would be blessed. The law just pushed sins ahead until the Seed, Jesus Christ would come.
Galatians 3:24,25
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Galatians 3:29
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
What was the promise of the Father! It was the Holy Spirit. He would pour out of His Spirit upon all flesh. Jew, Gentile, bond, free, male, female. All one in Christ Jesus. GOD is no respector of persons.

Amen, we joined Israel when we were grafted onto the olive tree. Eph 2 says we were foreigners and strangers to the commonwealth of Israel, but now are fellowcitizens.

Oh, YES, What a privilege we have to be IN CHRIST! Of the household of
faith, with faithful Abraham, and all the rest!

I believe the elect are those chosen of God from among both the Jews and Gentiles.

The Church.
I can see why one would say the church. However, I think that there are many in the church who are not the Elect. For example, take a snap shot of a given church. In 10 years many will have gone out from among us and ceased to serve Christ. Therefore, I contend that just because one is a member of the church, it doesn't mean that they are part of the Elect of God. The Elect are those who's names are ultimately found in the book of life.

As I know you are aware of, just because a person may attend a gathering in a building that is commonly called the Church, does not mean they are IN the Church.
Or another way of putting it, Just because one goes to church does not mean they are in the church.
