Can anyone recommend an Apostolic Forum that is based more on discussions and bible studies versus debates? I want to chat and discuss, and be friends. I enjoy this forum, but I'm not sure I really have the personality for debating people.
So, if you know of a forum that more fits the bill of a social outlet then a place to debate, please link it for me.
Thank you

Good Luck, even though I don't like to use that term. I have been on a lot of them and also reviewed several. In the pentecostal reams everyone is always pushing their beliefs and with argument. That's the way it has been for as long as I can remember. That old, I'm right and your probably wrong. In reality the truth of the matter is this, we all are incorrect in something we have been taught or believe.
Then you have rebels who are self appointed in the things they believe, and most of the time in their minds, they are right and everyone else is wrong. Most of that is due to the fact that most of them don't attend certain church on a regular basis, they are not involved in any christian work with other to the benefit of mankind, and a lot of them are just out there and don't attend church at all. You will also find people who have been rebuked by someone in authority and as a result they have left a church and become indifferent and now they have their own opinion on the bible and God.
Yes Amanah, they are out there every where. Just always remember one thing in all of it! Jesus is not the author of confusion but the giver of love, peace and a sound mind.

The good thing about AFF is that you won't be censored, generally. Many other forums will censor you. So, what I do is engage in a debate if that is what I want to do, read some debates without participating and ignore everything else that annoys me. Works for me. :heeheehee

Have you heard of Paltalk? Not too many apostolics, but great chats with Messianics, Jews and other christians. You can text chat and audio chat(with a mic) for free. You have to pay if you want video chat. Lots of topics, religion, politics etc. Look me up. I am morningstar_10. I mostly hang out in Messianic Q and A room in christianity or judaism section.
here is the link, download and install. it's free.

Dear Amanah
I have been reading your posts, and then I suddenly realized that if everyone had to had a forum where everyone agrees and gets along, then we would eventually have billions of forums with just one person talking to himself or herself.
It is the willingness and openes to allow other viewpoints that makes for an active faith. one that is engaged in discussions and debates. that seeks clarification.
I like this forum for even though it is mainly populated by Acts 2:38 believers (Yes I am one too), we do not all agree with each other postion regarding everything.
there are discussions and debates that sometimes verge on anarchy, but this controlled chaos and mayham serves to make us stronger in what we believe.
Besides we have a good group of brethren here that know how to behave (Mostly) and show respect even when in disagreement over certain theological points.
I wish everyone here would believe the same doctrines that I believe but I am sure that is never going to happen. Yet I keep coming and posting because I believe that my viewpoint regarding certain doctrines should be considered as a valid alternative.
Of course people who oppose my doctirnes will come out and say whatever they want to say, but I take those attacks as part of the process of contending for the faith.
well I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

I just got managed to get kicked out of another forum.
It seems the truth is not welcomed in some places.
But that is OK, Jesus was rejected because of his words and evil spoken of, so I certainly do not expect any better.
Well did Jesus proclain that we would be rejected and cast out because of his name sake.
I preach Jesus and the word of God, even if I get ejected from every Forum in the Internet, I am not going to stop standing up for God's holy word.

Thank you,
Right of the bat just to dispell any doubts for anyone here is my doctrinal stance, well most of it.
1. I believe in one single Holy God, no trinity for me.
2. I believe and preach the Acts 2:38 Message.
3. I belive in Holiness, just not in Legalism.
(I am not UPC, and I do not believe in their man made standards)
4. I Believe in following the Ten Commandments (including the Sabbath)
5. I believe in the whole Bible being the word of God.
(I stand up for the word of God without being ashamed of any of it.)
This should be enough to get me kicked out of most forums.
So If these beliefs are not acceptable here, then I should be kicked out, for I am not going to change them for anyone.

You know I had that same thought... everyone seemed kind of... argumentative .... and then I decided I will just try to appreciate the differences and search out the commonalities. So far it seems to be working out OK... I am still surprised that EVERY section just about could be relabeled 'debate' and nobody would notice... I mean some of the hottest debates are in the the fellowship area... but I guess that's just how it's going to be.

The reason we like to argue and contend is that we follow the advice of the Apostle Jude to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints.
Some of us care about the word of God and when we see someone twisting the word of God, we try to make sure that wresting of the word of God does not go unchallenged.
We might not convince a person in error, although it is possible, but perhaps we are preventing others from only listening to one side of the story.
The Prophet Elijah contended with the false prophets of Baal, because he was sure of his cause.
I can keep quiet and let others teach error or I can raise my voice in opposition to error.
So which is the greater wrong,
To argue and sometimes be a little rude?
or
To be silent and let people be lost in error?

Sometimes it seems to me people just enjoy arguing, and venting, and just want to be right. It doesn't feel like it's done with any compassion or caring, it's just a contest. :weightlifter:

Ha, yup. You have to believe you are making a difference where you are, also? And I suggest that debaters might be the necessary flip-side of not even wanting complete agreement, otherwise why read other posts? Or, to put it another way, you are always, in this age, going to have to sift (a forum) for knowledge pertinent to you, and recognize that even a rant may contain knowledge useful for someone else, IMO.

You are right sometimes we ministers forget to teach the truth in love.
I for once like to apologize to anyone whom I may have offended in my zeal for the truth. My intention has never been to hurt anyone or offend anyone, my intention has been to teach the word of God.
I may get sometimes a little carried away, but it is because I care deeply for the truth, and in the heat of the discussion, I become a little too assertive in defending a biblical doctrine.
From now I will try to keep in mind, that I can have a biblical discussion without resorting to being agressive.

I like to think of AFF as in the scripture that says "iron sharpeneth iron"
If you only associate with those whom you completely agree with, are you being sharpened? I have gone through growth with this forum, because if I post something, and someone disagrees with me, and proves it through scripture, then I can continue to learn and grow.
It is when you begin to think you have it all figured out, and no one can tell you any different that you really begin to die.
There is brotherly love and concern here in this forum, as well as lots of debate with iron sharpening iron... but in the end, I believe most are here because they sincerely love the Lord, want to be pleasing to Him, and are in effect trying to "work out their own salvation."
None of us has it ALL figured out, and the Word is alive, and living, and breathing, and there is fresh manna from it each time we pick it up.
The only thing I have seen about this forum that I dislike is the harsh words used against someone who expresses their opinion. There is really no need for that kind of thing. We can have discussions in brotherly love take place that are edifying, and life changing, without the need for childish name calling, bullying, and demeaning behavior.
That is the only thing I would change... not the discussion, not the debates but just that we all would respect each other's opinions, and refrain from childish behavior.

When I first came on Jim Yohes Forum which was forerunner to this one I was one of the very few that spoke out against the false beard teaching, tithing, honoring buildings as being the House of God and single Pastors ruling the Church. I was considered a Charismatic Liberal in those days.
Thads list counted me as Charismatic.
Now a few years later people here have changed so much that I am considered an old time Conservative even being called a Pharisee now and then. I have not changed my beliefs since then its the Forum members that have changed many new people and some who have backpedaled on theirs.
I must say that IN GENERAL this seems like a very liberal forum.

Ya, I kinda miss ole Bert too.... he was just such a hoot when he showed up with all his poetic ways...
And, you are right, many times when you are saying things with the written word, it is hard to convey the right emotion with the words you choose.
So, definitely before hitting the "enter" button, it is a good idea to read back over what you said, and make sure you are saying what you thought you said.... (I try to do that every time, although sometimes in the heat of the moment..... I forget lol! )

No no no! Quickly type exactly what you are feeling at the moment a thought comes in your mind, and send it before you have a chance to double think what you're saying, or make a decision that you were wrong or right in what you said! This is the only way to have intelligent, real conversation. (I'm guilty of this)

It seems like only a few years ago (OK, maybe more than a "few") there were several active boards going on. Even the UPCI's own Apostolic Man board on their own web site (which has been taken down since) saw a lot of posters. And then there was EA, which I was a member of for a couple of days before getting the boot -I think THEY tanked when they started charging admission if I'm not mistaken. There were of course a number of others.
I suspect that Facebook has kind of taken over the social needs that most of these message boards provided.

Regarding the bolded:
I don't think that's the case. Fakebook does not have the format for discussions, just little quips, where everyone posts menes and demands everyone else "like and share", or else they are posting one line updates on the stupidest most inane "events" in their lives ("Hey everyone, I lost a button! Like and share if you agree, otherwise you're a coward and a hater!")
I personally find it inconceivable that there's ONLY ONE FORUM on the entire internet catering primarily to apostolics, and on that one forum there's only about 10-15 people actually posting anything.
I do not understand how nobody has set up an apostolic discussion forum that would generate about 100 plus posters interacting daily in discussions. My only guess is apostolics aren't interested in discussions, and all the ones who used to be active on higher fire, the UPCI forum, Delphi, FCF, GNC, and others have decided there's nothing left to discuss. Very strange to me.

Although, visiting other Christian discussion boards, it looks like the activity level has decreased across the board from what it was 10-15 years ago.
Discussion must have just been a fad.
