Does anyone want to share where they are from and what church you attend?
Some folks have it on their profile but many are anonymous. I realize this IS the internet but it is not like you have to post your name and social security number.
I am originally from Lake Village, Arkansas and I crossed over the river to go to church at the Greenville UPC for the first 27 years of my life.
I now attend The Village Church http://www.thevillagechurch.net/flower-mound/ and live in Flower Mound, TX which is a little north of Dallas and west of Lewisville, TX.

I go on Sunday Mornings to Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston Texas, Pastor Marcus Cosby. The reason I am at that church right now is because I am helping with the Praise and Worship Team. www.wheeleravebc.org
On Sunday and Wednesday nights I go to The Pentecostals of Katy, Pastor Rob McKee. www.thepok.com

Yep, the delta is my home and I love the place. Just needed to find better schools and less taxes and a calvinist church so we moved here. :)
I have two children a daughter who is six and my son who is four and we just have to get to a more convenient location. Also, the delta is a hard place to live.

Swanton, Ohio and we go to Swanton Alliance Church.
I grew up in a UPC church in Toledo, then moved to Pontiac for one year where I sat under Bro Roy Well, then to Owosso, Michigan for almost 4 years where I was pastored by Bro Harold Roberts. Somewhere in there I spent one year at the Pentecostal Children's Home in Barbourville, Kentucky as a housemother. Hated living in Kentucky (sorry, just being honest) :)

I grew up as a Southern Baptist in North Mississippi, stopped regularly attending church when I left my parent's house. I married a back-slidden apostolic girl and started attending a nearby UPC church with her (a church that has been criticized by some on this forum, btw). I was an active member there as well as the worship drummer for over a decade.
I was out of church when I joined this forum, but I now attend a small apostolic church (it's not ALJC but is in fellowship with them) in North Mississippi and I love it there.
More (or less) than you wanted to know? lol

I noticed on your church website that your pastor is a Paul Cook. I did not recognize the name and wonder if you can give us a quick bio?
I grew up in a small UPC church in Alaska, after the death of one of my parents moved to Louisiana as a teenager, graduated from a UPC Bible College, spent 16 years at a large ex UPC chuch in Texas then approx. the next ten years at a large ex UPC church in Tennessee, and now attend a new (2 1/2 year old) independent charismatic church pastored by the former youth pastor of the UPC church in my town of 100,000 people in Tennessee. The last two churches were / are PCI in doctrine.

I also like the fact that there's only 1 high school. No rivalry, no divisions, just plain ole good "community" atmosphere...

Sister Alvear, Great Post!
Can you tell us when you went to Brazil, what churches were there then and what is there now? Do you and your husband oversee a network of churches there? If so how many & what is the name of it? I am always getting invitations from the A/G to minister there but would rather minister in Apostolic Churches there. Are there any large Apostolic Churches in Rio or San Paulo? I hope to make Brazil my 62nd nation to minister in.
I think it is incredible that God called and blessed you to minister in Brazil all these years. We love the pictures that you post on here of the churches & people. Do you have a General Meeting of all the Churches and Ministers annually and if so where and how many attend?

I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI, went to UPC churches pastored by A.L. Colegrove, C.W. Colegrove, Nathan Rose and Carl McKeller. Have not been a member of a UPC church since the early 90's, and have not lived in Grand Rapids since 1975. My husband and I have two Pentecostal churches we go to, one is Apostolic and is affiliated with the ACN and the other is AOG.

I think this year's was the best ever, and this is the 5th year we've done it. After all the time and energy spent in writing the skits, practicing, etc. the ALC players (as they are called) pulled off quite a show this year.
It was also a great into for the pastor's wife (since they just moved here) as she was the host. Talk about hilarious!

I don't believe in institutional church. I believe that we ARE the church, and that God's people were never supposed to be part of a heirarchal religious system. I look to what the church was in the new testament. In the first century. What did that body of believers look like? How did they live? What did they do? I believe that should be our example.

I live in one of the last three grand bastions of political liberalism. It is neither CA or NY. I live on the edge of this place by the great river that bisects our country. I am very active in a small church between 5-10 miles away. The name of our church is Fountain of Truth. Our church website is http://fountainoftruth.org/, and my personal blog is http://jonathandtalbot.blogspot.com/.

I forgot that the much of the northeast is still dominated by liberals. I could not help but be slightly criptic. Greetings from Delaware!
We celebrated our 50th Anniversary this weekend at our church, the Pentecostals of Dover Delaware. :congrats
We honored our founders and former pastors, Wayne and Janet Trout (who began the work in 1961, then known as the Kent Christian Center /First United Pentecostal Church), as well as honoring our current pastor and his wife, Anthony and Tammy Trout.
The celebration began last night with a visitation from Alvin Slaughter...coupled with the phenomenal singing of our own First Lady Tammy Trout...Are you beginning to get the picture? :encore
If that wasn't enough, our guest speaker today was Pastor Rex Johnson from Austin, Texas. WOW! What a message. He blew me away!
And on a regular basis, we thrive on the ministry of two of the best in the business: Our Senior Pastor Anthony Trout (son of Wayne & Janet) and our Assistant Pastor Rudy Bailey (another powerhouse!!!)
I hope everyone is equally blessed at their churches.
Words can't begin to express the appreciation and admiration I feel for the men and women who dedicate their lives to the work of God... :ty
God Bless the Ministry!

Pyromaniac, is The Pentecostals of Dover a UPC church? (by that I mean are your pastors UPC and does the church consider itself UPC, I am not asking if it is officially affiliated as few are).

I have heard that Pastors Anthony and Tammy Trout are doing an incredible job in Dover. If they have not already...it would be to their advantage to leave the Mother Ship and join Global or some of the other Networks and Fellowships that do not have all the baggage of the labels of the past affiliations. I did and am thankful that I left the Union almost 12 years ago.

Does anyone want to share where they are from and what church you attend?
Some folks have it on their profile but many are anonymous. I realize this IS the internet but it is not like you have to post your name and social security number.
At this point, I think I will remain anonymous. :icecream
Although some may have an idea of my background.
MamaHen, if you remember one of the posters who went by 'Lady', that was my mother.

:hmmm I honestly don't know!
In the 14 years I've been there, I've never heard that message preached!

One of the reasons I am curious is that many years ago I heard the Trout name a lot in UPC circles but have not lately. Made me wonder if they were exUPC.

I seriously don't know.
The subject was discussed on another thread here awhile back that someone "heard" that something, something, something.... but I don't think anyone knew for sure.

Wayne and Janet are still written in the lambs book of life. The son must have been blotted out, he is not listed in the directory.

I am aware and will leave it at that. It is my understanding that they are at the http://globalministriesonline.com/category/news/ Conference in AZ along with many others that left the Mother Ship some time ago. I left almost 12 years ago and some of these guys left long before I did. Sometimes children grow up and beyond Mama's house and they have to stretch and leave. That does not mean they hate their Mama - just that they grew until they could not stay in the same house. God bless the Trouts. I have great respect for them!
