Anybody know any churches you'd recommend in Brazosport area of Texas? I believe Brazosport is about an hour from Houston.

Put on a blind fold, start spinning around in circles, and point. when you stop spinning, walk about 100 yards in that direction and you will likely be standing in the parkinglot of a great Apostolic church....
seriously there are TONS of great churches, from GIB to UPCI around there that you can pick from.

Well, I doubt that there is a First United Pentecostal Church of Brazosport but stranger things have happened! I preached seveal times at the Ehucheannie Apostolic Church way out in the country somewhere in Florida. Nobody knew how to spell the name of the church!
I have been all over Texas but I have never heard or or been to Brazosport. It sounds like something you would go see at an arena somewhere!
WELCOME TO BRAZOSPORT! What kinda name is THAT?

Well, that sounds nice. I should be moving soon to that area. Over here in the northeast, you don't see apostolic churches.
I currently attend a trinity church, which, btw, I love the people there so much (don't jump me...lol). This should be a new experience for me. I've heard of all this standards thingy only on AFF...
what's GIB?

It's the kind of name people in that area have lived with and been proud of for generations. The Brazosport area is a great place to live.

Pull up the UPCI's church locator website and search by ZIP code 77541 with distance preferences...
http://www.upci.com/churchlocator/searchBy_Zip.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
That's a start, although I'm not sure what your organization preferences are...

Hmmmm, Like I said before, I would drive to Houston and go to Lakewood! Get there early to get a seat because it only seats 18,000 and you don't want to have to go sit in the overflow!

Never been in an organization per se. I don't really get tied to an organization. As long as the local assembly is helping me in my walk with God and edifying, I'll most likely stay.
I believe most of our christian growth has to do with our daily walk with the Lord anyway. Fellowship is for edification of each other.

Those are my old stomping grounds around there.
I grew up around Clute, Lake Jackson, El Campo, West Columbia. That whole area is where we fellowshipped. District 10.
I've been gone from that area for over 20 years so I can't say anything about the condition of many of the churches around there now. We fellowshiped often with the young people in Clute & Lake Jackson.
I looked on the UPCI website to see what churches are around and I don't recognize any of the pastors from the old days. So... the churches in Clute & Lake Jackson used to be great people but that doesn't help me in any in letting you know how things go today.
There is a church in Brazoria. Brother Harold Williams. I know him well... grew up with his son... They are good people. The church would probably be a relatively small one if that is what you are looking for.
Now... West Columbia... I can tell you about that. :) That's where my parents go to church. Danny Johnson is the pastor. He is a great pastor and I really like the WC church. Brother Johnson teaches at TBC or is administration there... or both.
But... of all of those choices West Columbia would be the farthest drive (about 15 miles or so)
Christian Tabernacle over in Angleton was always a good church back in the day as well.
Like I say... it's been a while. The only one I can suggest from recent experience is West Columbia and I state up front that this is because I haven't been to the others in decades and I am, admittedly, biased.
I know this hasn't been much help but let me know if there's anything else I can help you find out etc.

AB, not to sound judgmental or anything, but I personally would NOT attend Osteen's church. I have seen his program on TV,and I personally do NOT believe he is preaching truth. I know you like him and I mean no offense to you personally, that's just my opinion (which really doesn't count).

LOL... yeah. You never know how people feel about miles. Especially bi-weekly miles. :)
Also... that is from Lake Jackson. The area considered to be Brazosport is pretty spread out. So the actual distance would depend on where one lived.

WHAT??? Well, Lord have mercy! No offense but I do like Pastor Joel Osteen and Victoria. Great and real people! You would like them if you met them!
Well, I used to preach at Bible Truth Church in El Campo for Pastor Larry Smith. It was a great church and I always enjoyed preaching there! I think they left the UPC but not positive about that. I think that may be near where the brother is moving too.

How long ago was it when you preached for Brother Smith?
We like to get down there to visit every once in a while but we haven't done so in years now... over a decade I imagine.

I have no doubt that they're great and real people. I just do not get edified spiritually by their sermons. That's all...

I'm bumping this thread 'cause i have now moved to the Brazosport area. I've been attending an assembly of God.
Any recommendations would be nice. Preferably, a church with young people too.

Have you tried any COGIC churches? I am not really sure of their doctrine, but I have friends that attend a COGIC church.
