View Full Version : Urgent!!!!!!!! Mrs. BOOM - PRAYER NEEDED

It was a dark and stormy night...

Actually it was Saturday and it was not stormy. I went to bed early, and my dear wife stayed to polish the coloring page for Sunday School. About 10 mins later she gave up for the night.

Welp, as she stood, she began to get very cold and shiver uncontrollably. My mission was to try to get her warm, and neither of us slept. Sunday she did not feel like going, but was responsive Sunday night. Today I called her about 1030 AM and she was not doing well, so I scheduled a 3 PM Doctor visit. They took a while to see us and then about 4 diagnosed probable Pnuenoma, and sent us next door to the E-room for testing. Sure enough, xray shows the Dr was right. She is expected to be in the hospital for 2-4 days.

What a rotten way to spend Morther's Day!!

Pray for both of us. :praying

How is she doing?

She called about 620AM and said she had not slept well. I am getting an hour head start and going by the room on my way to the office. For a small town, we do have a fair hospital. It makes it a lot easier on me due to her diabetes. I don't post much on Tuesdays by habit, because we have church on Tuesday night. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. :thumbsup

It sounds like you both had it Boom, Pneumonia like that, our whole family came down with walking Pneumonia three years ago. Husband and younger daughter were the worse, they both had strep throat and inner ear infections, sinus infection, plus very high fever along with chest pain heavy coughs were you could not catch your breath, the doctor said he send them to the hospital if the meds didn't take affect within 48 hours. Myself and the two other kids did have the problem with feeling breathless if we cough, as long as we didn't do a lot we felt ok , other wise it was like we relapse. Took 6 weeks to get back on our feet. Praying for you both~

Always a Gentleman, and I appreciate that Phil.

She had her whitecounts down some but xray still shows sop on her lung. With two more xrays, she glows in the dark! (j/k). Her fever is up and down. They have her on breathing treatments and she has had too much company to rest much.

Last night was not a good night for MrsB. Mr B did well and awoke tired but did sleep some. She took a pill to sleep and woke unable to breathe. Dr did not do x-ray today and said she would be there a few days more... she took a shower and developed the chills. This is distressing at best to Mr B. :praying

It rather shocked me last night and this morning too!

The tests today show no blood clots and Thank God - NO TUMOR in her lung. They did find a lot of fluid and so in ICU they use special beds that shake you to break it up and force the body to remove the pneumonia.

Her color is much better tonight. As the board knows, she is legally blind. She looked up at lunchtime and asked- "Is that a snowman above the door?" I hesitated to answer as this is a Cath-aholic, not Apostolic Hospital. Here is a similiar photo.... she laughed for the first time this week when I told her what she saw.

(our Bus Students Parents say they are Cath-aholics, but we let the children learn about One God anyway!)

It was a special blessing to me that as our Pastor came to pray at 8 PM, the nurse asked him to "wait so I can pray with you."

Thanks, Friend.

She had a not so great afternoon. They had to give her 2 units of blood, and she is again weak. She was so upbeat and chipper this morning, this is a real setback.

I am told this is common for pnuemonia and thus would point that this was perhaps some of what I had going on when I was recently sick.

I have been on phone and could not get to this.

I was late today- up at 730 instead of 600. So I came home for lunch. Also had to followup on Rebate from 11/24/06 for $35..... :club

MrsBOOMM was sitting up in a chair last night in ICU. she had also eaten half her dinner. ICU here in Podunkville has 4 beds only, so they will rotate her to the floor today. I expect 2 days on the floor back the same we expected last week before they send her home. Then she gets to endure my cooking!

I told her everyone is asking about her, including the DQ comments from our Resident Troublemaker SH.... She said she really wanted to be strong enough to still make a trip we were discussing for Memorial Day.

Thanks Tamor for asking! :highfive

Today the trip to the hospital was enjoyable for a few reasons.

1- It was bed 7 not ICU

2- Her color is good and she is complaining she is bored......

I suspect Wednesday- 2 more days- and they will allow her to come home.

Bro Scott, she will not be well enough to travel for that DQ next week, I fear.
WE shall see.

IAM, your voicemail was greatly appreciated today, Friend.

Today the trip to the hospital was enjoyable for a few reasons.

1- It was bed 7 not ICU

2- Her color is good and she is complaining she is bored......

She was tired, but still making improvements today. She did get up and walk some in the hall. She is asking for sugarless gum, and she sadly said that she does not think that DQ trip is gonna be an option.

Better put the DQ trip on hold for a week or two...

Tonight, we walked the hall together. This was a huge achievement. The Dr said they have to see if there is a suitable antibotic to give her at home, or she will need to remain in the hospital to ensure the course is completed. She looks so remarkably well, I am quite amazed indeed. Her room is semi-private and the nurses are exceptional.

The nurses say that as much as they enjoy MrsBoomm's sweet spirit, there is a 99% chance she will go home today.

See in the laundry thread that I then am in BIG trouble for I spread the towels all over the living room.....

She had a somewhat restful night. The Visiting Nurse was coming today.

This will be a process. She is wiped out.

Well, it has been quite sobering to read this thread and to realize how many people have been praying for me. I think I have been toosick to really realize just how sick I have been, but Praise God, we have a miracle working God. I did not want to wait any longer to thank all of you for your wonderful encouragement to my Mr B and for your incredible desire to pray for people in need. I will post this and go rest again, so I will not be able to post replies for a while as rest is a must I guess for me. If you would continue to pray, I would appreciate your prayers concerning my blood loss in the hospital. They still do not know where I am losing it but I did lose 2 pints in one day. Your prayers have worked so well already why not see what else God will do! I love you all and cannot say enough how much I have valued your prayers.

Since being home, we have struggled with the diabetes. I am a great cook as I make a mean chicken salad sandwich! Not to be compared either are my sliced cheese and crackers snacks!

MrsB has had steadily rising blood sugar inspite of increasing the insulin given. (joy for me since I draw the needles 4 times a day now) Today we revisit the Dr and hopefully he will have insight into what was the reason for her blood loss/anemia and her overall still feeling rotten.

Keep us on your prayer lists still, please?

As a non-insulin dependent (insulin resistant), adult onset diabetic I am certainly sympathetic to MrsB's condition.

I will continue to pray for her. The symptoms you describe were the ones I had that led them to diagnose my insulin resistant Type 2 diabetes.

Her level dropped to 126 after tweaking meds... we are on the right path here now I think!

She is on two types of insulin and had control before surgery.

Thanks for the post, Bro Phil.

That is GREAT news!

That is what has helped me.. I am on oral meds (metformin) and I am now taking 1000mg in the AM and 1000mg in the PM and I have been able to get and keep my levels in the 100 to 125 range.

God is able to finish the work he starts!
