The Rev. Anthony Mangun, pastor of The Pentecostals of Alexandria, said Santorum originally asked to attend the service to worship. However, Mangun asked him to speak while he was there.
“We are very blessed and honored that you would come to worship with us,” Mangun told Santorum.

"This nation was founded as a Christian nation," said Terry. "There is only one God, and his name is Jesus.. We don't worship Mohammed and we don't worship Allah... If you don't love America, and you don't like the way we do things, I've got one thing to say, get out!"

No. He did not give a political speech.
However, most do and they get away with it. It's no different than most colleges, Rotary Clubs or Lodges - most of them are nonprofit too.
Where they get into trouble is if they contiguously campaign for a particular candidate from the pulpit.

Regarding 501c and political speeches in church. Don't forget that this doesn't apply to Democrats speaking in Black Churches! They can go on a total political rant and that is fine.

I wonder if Rick has experienced anything like that before???
As Bro. Mangun has one of the largest churches in the state of LA, it would be very difficult for a candidate to ignore him. He can also help motivate other Pentecostals to vote for his choice of a candidate. This makes him very influential.

Very glad to see that Romney can't get the Conservative vote. :thumbsup
During the last presidential election Mike Huckabee, a trinitarian preacher played bass on a few songs at a prominent oneness church. The same church won't let women sing in the choir if they cut their hair or wear pants.
I'm against every politician using the pulpit to elicit votes. I'm against allowing giving politicians special attention during a service. The Bible says we shouldn't esteem one person over another person.

No one is surprised at Rick's win in the Pelican State, however he still lags at 50% of Mitt's delegates. As I continue to state he is not going to win the Republican nomination much less the White House. Newt is dead in the water, Ron is having fun traveling the country and visiting folks he met in 2008.

I agree with you here.
Romney will, more than likely, be the nominee but there is nothing wrong with a long primary or a brokered convention to let the people have a choice and vet the candidates thoroughly. We have not had a choice since this race began because it was predetermined that Mitt Romney (it was his turn) will be the GOP nominee. The main problem is Romney is NOT winning with independents in the primaries he has won. He barely gets above 30% and if you see the breakdown it is amongst the elite and those earning upwards of $100K a year.
This election will be a referendum on Obama. They want to run against Romney because, they have so much on him they are licking their chops. We just have to hope that there is a big turnout that wants to get rid of Obama and pray that Romney will work to repeal Obamacare.

I think (and I have been surprised by the overturning of so many of my predictions this time) that neither Santorum or Romney will clench the election before the convintion. Therefore I could see Romney (having te most delegates) offering Santorum (second place) the position of VP. This would also allow him to shore up his credibility with conservatives.
I do not believe that this race has been nearly as intense as 2008, when you had a very even split between Romney and Huckabee for the conservative vote (Giulianni and McCain were the liberals in that race remember). This will allow Romney and Santorum to work together against Obama.

Nope, Paul Ryan will be Romney's choice, and rightly so, Ryan is very articulate and can bring the finanical facts to the table. Seems to be the only voice of sanity in DC these days!!! But of course, the left is not listening, they go headlong toward destruction, as if nothing can wreck this country.

That could work and Ryan hasn't denied he wouldn't accept like he did last year. It could work because Romney needs a stronger presence behind him to win. Normally the VP choice is a lighter pick than the President, but since this frontrunner is so weak, he needs a strong VP. I could better vote for him if Ryan was on the ticket or anyone that would hold his feet to the fire.

If moving Ryan to VP position keeps him from writing policy in Congress, than I wouldn't want him to do that and I think that was his reasoning from last year.
I like Rubio and would like to see him as VP. So far, I like him. LOL! Finding out the opposite of sooooo many people this election cycle. Crazy, crazy year for Republicans.
Unless we have a whole lot of people wanting to get rid of Obama, we are not going to win.

Ryan has the right idea about finances, but unless the GOP gets the WH and more seats in the SEnate, Ryan's plans will never get through. It doesn't matter how right he is, his party needs the power to force his plan through to help the country.
I serioulsy doubt Romney can beat Obama so it wouldn't matter if Ryan was his VP candidate.

I love Paul Ryan but from a practical standpoint we need a Hispanic VP candidate to pry away some of the Hispanic vote from Obama. Right now he is polling to get around 80% of it!!!!!

Fantastic. Business is a good thing. And big business in particular needs to be unshackeled from nonsensical EPA and other manufacturing mandates being imposed by big brother. The big business to beware of are companies like Solendra who are by definition unsustainable and government leeches.
