Most of you know about little Andrew that I've been requesting prayer for... well there have been some developments, he's showing more signs of rejection of the new heart and the blood clot in his lung is giving reason for more concern. Below is last nights facebook post....

---------------------------------------------

Good evening. Today has certainly been a pray without ceasing day. Andrew has had a set back which we pray will he'll be healed from. They have started him on steroids tonight to combat what they feel is the first signs of rejection. His irregular heart rhythm and restlessness have increased today. They have also seen some numbers in his lab work to cause concern. The chest tube drainage has also ...increased which is not the direction it needs to go. Meaning the blood clot has not dissolved enough yet. They also gave him medication to help him relax so at least he was able to calm down and sleep some. So needless to say, we're a little bummed today. It's been a little harder to make light jokes in the room and take many pictures. We hope to see signs of improvement as early as tomorrow. Rejection is a reversible thing and they are treating it promptly to get a quick handle on it. They also have started antibiotics to combat any possible infection but their numbers so far do not indicate infection. It does not mean we will give up hope nor give up trust in God to do what is best for Andrew and to make good come from all of what has happened with Andrew. I told him if it didn't want a bath for the day, there were other ways to ask. We ask that you will continue to lift Andrew's name up to our Father in heaven who can do more than we can comprehend.

update this morning...

his little heart still isn't beating 100 percent properly, but better this morning. Right now they are throwing every possible solution they can come up with this morning at him... and waiting for the team to make rounds today with hopefully better answers and a solid game plan.

Update from Andrew's mom's Facebook this morning.... please pray.

-------------------------------------------------

! Just trying to get the word out so all those praying for Andrew have the morning update before we get busy with the morning school routine. So pick an organ system Andrew hasn't tested the limits on...ah, yes, the kidneys. They have been addressing overnight all of his other issues and now are working on renal failure. Treating currently with adjustment of medications, but possibly will need to do a form of dialysis through a catheter.

Due to his continued rapid breathing they are also considering reintubating. His blood gases look a little better every couple of hours but expect they will still need to reintubate for adding the ventilator. They are also still concerned about rejection and are adjusting medications and will repeat an echo today to take another look at the heart.

And then of course there's still the increased output from chest tubes showing the blood clot is not dissolved. They're walking the line between keeping him comfortable so he's not so aggitated and keeping him awake to preserve everything else.

Well, I guess the sunny side is he's not gagging or vomiting (of course he only gets nutrition through iv). Thank goodness for electronic charting or they'd be here another full shift just recording the activity of the night. Oh the day when we were frustrated that he would gag on his pacifier and vomit!

We truly thank you for your continued love, prayers, and support. We know God's love and ultimate plan for all of us in all of life is bigger than this. But in this one snapshot of one life in all of time, we keep praying for what is best for Andrew.

Reintubating in this case may not be a bad thing, if they make the decision to do so. It might just help to stabilize the body. I would imagine this poor little baby is struggling to maintain adequate oxygen levels.

God is still God and can do amazing feats for this little one.

God Bless.

the latest update from Andrew's mom... please continue to pray, and thank you for praying.....
------------------------------------------------------

Good evening to all in FB land tonight. We hope that you have had a blessed day. We have had a blessed day in that Andrew seems to have stopped his slide backwards. It is hard when it all or nothing. That's what we had with the transplant. Once that's complete, we felt that everything would be easy. Well, it's not. To have him in your arms and down to a feeding tube and see him awake is wonderful.... To have him where he is tonight is terrible. He is back to square one or square minus one. On a vent, sedated with kidney problems and oh, don't forget the blood clot. To say we are lower than low is an understatement.

But, the Elders at Millersville had a prayer service for Andrew tonight. It was just announced today and held tonight. Over 100 show up to offer prayer not only for Andrew but for our family. This has lifted us up from the despair which we were feeling. Thanks to those which prayed for us pubicly and those who were able to come and to those who wanted to come but were unable. You continued support in words is truly helping us in this saga.

The doctors think that all can be reversed on Andrew. They do not think we are at death's door. It will take time for Andrew to get back to where he was before tuesday. So we continue to press on with you prayers and support and God giving us the strength.

Update this morning....

Kidney showed some small output, which is a positive sign in regards to the renal failure. Heart is having a rhythm issue, therefore he has been placed on a pace machine to try and keep his rhythm normal.

Thanks for praying.

I wanted to provide an update. Below is Andrew's mom's facebook update from last night. Please note that Andrew is still having a really hard battle, the blood clot is still present, there are huge nutrition issues due to the blood clot, and he's pretty weak.

Plus, though both parents have employers that have allowed them to be off more than just FMLA time, when they aren't working they aren't getting paid. Both have exhausted Paid Time Off, so this is a huge burden on them. Dad was only able to work 6 hours last week, and mom hasn't worked since February. Please pray for them.
-------------------------------------
Good evening to all in Fb land. Andrew has had an ok day. His blood pressure was up and they had to give him medicine to get it back down. He did have a bronc on his throat to see where the blood was
coming from when he is suctioned. He was found to have a raw place in his throat. They will try and not turn his head so much to prevent the rubbing. As this was happening they noticed that his kidneys quit producing. They are trying to get them back on as we speak. They also are trying a new medicine for the blood clot. They will give it a couple of days to see if it helps before surgery is talked about. He did wake up a few times and was happy. Thanks for your continued prayers.

This poor little fella is really struggling here.

I understand, from what you are describing here about the blood clot, what peril this little fellow is in. It was one of those situations I always hated to find myself facing when I would go to work each morning.

Let's pray that God would guide the hands of the nurses who take care of him and that God would guide the minds of the physicians who are treating him.

Let's pray for financial blessings to the family. It would help if we had an address for donations. I'm sure at this point even a small donation would be appreciated.

The best way to contribute is one of two ways....

1 - mom is Christy Page Hagewood on Facebook, she accepts all friend requests and there is a ton of information there about fundraisers, donations, etc.

2 - Contact a Regions Bank - any branch. There is a fund set up for Andrew Preston Hagewood, son of Keith and Christy Hagewood. There they are able to accept funds of any size for little Andrew.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness and prayers.
