Because they made a big deal of Romney transporting his own dog, after it crapped and puked repeatedly in his car in the 70,s on a family road trip, on the roof of his car in a carrier.something tells me Romney,s dog was ok with that! Obamas ? not so much !

Muslims don't even keep dogs as pets. Considered unclean.

DEFINITELY eating dog would be considered as equivalent to eating pork.

It's served in different parts of Asia, but I've spent a LOT of time in Indonesia and I've never seen it served there.

With this in mind:

Some White House menu selections (If you're even invited to RinTinTin DinDin):

Beagles with cream cheese
Pugs in a Blanket
Chicken Poodle Soup
Baked A-labska
Leg of lab
Haagen-Dachshund
Pup-peroni Pizza
Hound cake
Great Danish
Ramen Poodles
Pickled Pugs Feet
Cold Yeller

Always available - Greyhound Poupon

Not a big deal, a dog is an animal, animals are meant to be eaten.

I won't argue, but holidays ("Holy Days") too are given, and then we are instructed not to contend over them, also; meaning to me that one misses the point when one's contention with a people becomes about what they eat, or their holidays.

But it seems a stretch to me to then toss Passover for easter (ishtar), and ignore "Smoke in God's nostrils." I would include you, but ask "Which side would you prefer to defend" here?

To read that pork magically became ok at Peter's episode on the Gentile's roof
is to completely misunderstand the parable, imo. I think the 3 distinct episodes of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, first to the apostles, then to the Jews and Gentiles, is similarly misread.

Imo, and others, these were events sanctifying the Gentile believers, a genuine problem in a time when for a Jew to enter a Gentile's house = stoning when they exited.

No, Obama doesn't *EAT* dog meat (present tense). He ate it as a kid when he lived in another country, another culture and probably didn't know there was anything offensive about it.

Republicans are embarrassing themselves by dwelling on this. What a non-scandal. :foottap

It's not even about him not knowing it is offensive, it's about it not being offensive in so many cultures. In some cultures it is much more offensive to eat a cow and, God forbid, a pig. There are actual Scriptures and edicts about eating pig. This would be somewhat akin to a kid spending time in America where he ate good, All-American steaks and having it used against him as a man in a country where beef is taboo. Not only is this not a story, I think it is bad strategy.

Well, to each his own, I guess--as long as you aren't preaching it, or anything.

Ok, that was poorly put; I apologize. But I am curious if Peter's roof thing is the sole basis for allowing anything to be eaten, NT? We seem to have that, and the thing about

Romans 14:2
New Living Translation (©2007)
For instance, one person believes it's all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables.

English Standard Version (©2001)
One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

...wherein a peek at the lexicon seems to indicate "meat," rather than the broader def we give it--in other words, some people are meat eaters, I would think "clean meat" being assumed, and some are vegetarians in accordance with Genesis...

Romans 14:20
English Standard Version (©2001)
Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

International Standard Version (©2008)
Do not destroy God's work for the sake of food. Everything is clean, but it is wrong to make another person stumble because of what you eat.

...being over-arching, of course. However, the same condition seems to apply at "all things."

It just seems contradictory that Christ came to fulfill the Law, and I note that He (pointedly) ate some fish, but what evidence do we have that "all things" suddenly means "bugs, snakes, pork," etc.--unclean things.

However, John the Baptist ate locusts. I have always read there that this was from necessity, but one has to believe that this is what God supplied him with. I've just been scared from pork at the "smoke in God's nostrils" thing; that and because it offends many. Any help here? Ty
