I think I might do some weeding. Maybe pot some plants. Mow the grass. This joint could use some work. Duuude.

sorry, but not sure how Christians even joking about stuff like that is funny or appropriate.... just seems a bit in bad taste.

This walk with the Lord isn't a competition or comparison... we aren't measuring against each other, but against the Word.... the purpose of a Biblical rebuke is to assist and help... not provide comparison... if that was what you interpreted, I apologize... not the intent.

Bro Robbins is pointing out that this subject is dank, and participants in it have a chronic problem.
I think that I am getting it having reread Timmy's initial post. I missed the italics the first time. I have to agree that I am not especially thrilled, although I have made some jests about things in the past. I agree with Bro. Robbins that we should be careful not to jest about sins. (I now bow my head and close my eyes in a moment of reflection for my own guilt in this matter.)

I'm not even quite sure as to how Timmy's first post ties in with 4/20.... Is this date the 30th anniversary of the opening of a Cheech & Chong movie?

Let me google that for you. (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=4%2F20)

Wow! That was easy... I didn't have to type a thing! (Other than all the typing it took to tell you how I didn't have to type a thing.)

Well, I must confess, I must be more Christian than I thought - - I had no idea 4/20 was really a day that was celebrated!

For those who do not have a clue what this is about....a 4-20 is the police code for a drug bust. So many partakers actually celebrate this fact on April 20....and get stoned daily at 4:20 in the afternoon...or 4:20 in the morning if they have been up all night partying.
Personally, I prefer to celebrate 3:16.....not that I am quite a saint yet. I cannot smoke the stuff anymore, but I used to, so I consider myself to live in somewhat of a 'glass house'..... I cannot judge others. I see it somewhat like the 'meat' issue in Romans 14:3. "Let not him that eats despise him that eats not; and let not him who eats not judge him that eats: for God has received him."

Well, there really is no celebrating going on with respect to the above posts.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the 13th anniversary of the Columbine HS shooting in Littleton, CO which I so vividly recall in my mind as a senior in HS. It's a day I hope to God we never see repeat itself...

I've never tried weed, nor having I knowingly been around it (I'm sure I have been but can't say when or where), thus I don't even recognize its smell when others are sniffing the air and saying "smell the pot?".
Besides who needs cannabis when one has Smirnoff and Absolute, which is legal and cheaper and I imagine just plain tastes better? :)

I've never tried it, nor been around it in a recreational sense, but unfortunately in some ministry situations I have been around it. The smell is one that once you know that's it, you'll never forget it. To me, there is nothing that is as distinct, unless it's some forms of incense.
I've been on visitations, doing welfare checks of kids we ministered to, and working bus routes over the years, and have a door open and us get invited in and that smell hit us in the face....so I've been around it.
and I've seen the lives it's destroyed, the kids that have went without because someone's drive was greater for weed than it was for providing for their family.
I've seen lives destroyed by those that used it to stair step to stronger and more damaging substances....
and considering many come to view this forum from searches, etc... I'd think there could be greater things the body of Christ could post about to share our witness and testimony of freedom and the love of Christ than joke about actually celebrating something as vile as weed... just my thoughts. There again, never meant to come off holier than though, just thinking about our witness and what we joke about partaking in.

I agree. I have seen and heard too many people who had their lives destroyed by this garbage to wish to have anything to do with it. God helped keep me free of this garbage when I was growing up, and I am not wanting to see anyone else destroyed by this trash.

I recognized the words in the first post, however, didn't know that 4/20 was something celebrated (regarding those words), so I can agree that it probably was in poor taste to respond.
I just thought Timmy woke up at the foot of the bed today!

420 as I understand it is the number of distinct molecules in the cannabis plant. While I'm pretty much in agreement with Bro Robbins, I find this less harmless than excluding all but a certain 4, common on this forum.
Also, while smoking pot is surely not in anyone's best interest,
I suggest that eating it produces quite different effects,
especially at the proper dosage, and I...highly
recommend it for what might ail you.
I think it may approach irresponsibility to promote alcohol over pot--but I don't think
teens should be doing either one. Also, it is de facto legal where I live. Another good thing that has been corrupted, imo.

In case anyone's wondering, I haven't tried it, either.
Yet. ;)
