I almost hate to say this................ which kind?

Personally, I don't wear either. The ones for your feet hurt between my toes. And the other kind? Well, if you knew me at all, you'd know what a joke that would be!

Thank you Margie. You said what I did not want to say. :heeheehee

I was gonna write back in the day...thongs used to rub the space between my big toe and second toe raw....so no I do not wear them.

The other thongs? It's bad when we get old and find out that something new has been made, something old name's been changed to that something new....and something old has a new name and oh well...you know what I am talking about. :heeheehee

Want to hear a disgusting story? We had had a pastor for over 15 years but then he left for the mission field. So then we got this new guy. He was ok. Just ok. nothing special. He was very young (27). But his wife? Oooolala!! She was a trip!! Did things that were NOT acceptable. Wore things that were FAR less than acceptable.......... that kind of stuff.

So a couple of years ago, we had formed an ensemble to play for the Christmas season. She was playing the keyboard for the ensemble. Well, one Sunday morning she showed up with a skirt on that barely covered her bottom (maybe 3" past her tushie!). Then she bent over at the waist to plug in the keyboard with her rear facing a single young man in our group (24 year old) and his eyes flew open!! She was CLEARLY wearing a thong and everyone knew it at that point!!!!

Needless to say, it was not very long after that that the Board decided it was time for them to leave. Sad thing is that today she is busy posting on the internet that she has decided that she's an athiest and leaving her husband home 99% of the time to take full responsibility for their 3 young children. She needs all of our prayers. We've been praying for her at our church, that's for sure. That's really all we can do for her at this point tho.

I like wearing flip-flops and enjoy going bare-foot.

We older folk knew of "thongs" as footwear.

A few years ago while doing some clothes shopping with our grandkids, my wife asked my grandson if he wanted some thongs. He looked at her with an astonished look on his face, then laughed, and then took the time to explain that "thongs" are not footwear any more. "Flip flops" are the footwear and "thongs" are feminine underwear.

It is sad that this man married that woman. It would be very easy to criticize him for marrying the wrong girl, but even a marriage made in the church is subject to being destroyed if someone backslides. This is a very sad situation, but it is obvious what was in her heart. He has my deepest pity.

I remember when they changed. I think that was funny. I think that a persons clothing should be modest and comfortable. If it neither of those things, do without it.

I can tell you right now, my wife won't go for that!

I could see where thong underwear could be uncomfortable but I don't know that because I haven't worn them.

But, immodest? If a person's undergarments are not seen in public, how could they be modest or immodest? And how would "flipflops" be immodest?

Jay

I said modest and comfortable. Personally, I will never know whether some articles of clothing are comfortable or not because I will never have to be tempted to wear them.

I never said that neither are immodest. However, some people did use the word modesty, and I have never heard anything relating to that undergarment that I would call modest. However, that could just be because of bad press, and if anyone had ever dressed modestly while wearing it, please keep silent and say not a word.

This topic should not even be being discussed on a family friendly website in my opinion, and I should not have even commented on it. For that everyone has my deepest and most abject apologies.

Ummmm...are we talking about the shoes??? :D

My POV is that I couldn't care less what kind of underwear people wear. That's their business. I don't need--or want--to know.

If you DO wear a thong, though, PLEASE do whatever you need to do to make sure there are no visible "whale tales." :blink

May I add that if you do wear a thong, don't tell anybody or put it on forums.:D

I have the strong sense that in mainstream Pentecost, those in leadership who actually care what women wear underneath there cloths are dying off to the point that there may be almost none left.

Honestly, the only one who should know if a woman is wearing a thong is her husband. Beyond that, it's nobody's business.

And occasionally even HE doesn't want to know. I guess it depends on how much she's been hitting the gym.

Somehow I knew this topic would degenerate to this point when I first saw it posted ....

My opinion on the matter... if you wear one, be modest enough to wear your clothes modestly and in such a way, no one would ever know.

But in all reality, I think the reason many would wear such an uncomfortable undergarment is because they want to make it obvious by their clothing just what kind of undergarment it is... sigh.

I relate to your pastor's wife story, Margie. We had a pastor's wife once too who wore clothing on a regular basis that really appeared as if she had "nothing" or very little on underneath the skirt. Sickening really. So thankful we are long gone from that church!

In defense of thongs.

The shoe kind are the next best thing to sliced bread. My husband says my squaw name is 'Girl who milks in flip-flops' because... well I do all kinds of farm chores in these comfy unsafe shoes that give him fits.

And the other kind... If your drawers always wind up there anyway there is less material to be a problem, simple as that.

Pants on the ground, women in thongs. Why don't they just wear their underwear on the outside of their clothes?

Yep Margie.
There are actually women who not only share that, but cleverly position themselves in a chair at restaurants so men can view them. :eeeew

You know, when someone bends down and the back of their thong shows above their jeans?
