So, this skirt is on an Apostolic Clothing website and that is modest?

And we know that we've all seen those being worn.

This skirt looks more like a weapon. Anyone wearing it can rub their hands for 30 seconds and send deadly lightning bolts at their enemy.

Very true, but that fabric would do that if they weighed 110 lbs. And it passes "standards" because it's a skirt!

NO, NO, NO! It's too tight, too clingy and where is her seam hose? Don't you women know you're suppose to wear a tent, two sizes too big, that two people could fit in, and it must be made of blue jean material, in case you want to go swimming??? What is this Apostolic forum coming too? :heeheehee

Hey guys, aren't we being a bit super sensitive?

I am not so sure God wants women to hide ALL their curves. After all, wouldn't that be like cross dressing?

The girl can't help she's made that way.

Of course, some ladies are a bit less modest than others...

What about in your non-standards churches? Ever see anyone a bit less modest than someone else?

Everyone and every group has inconsistencies. Doesn't mean we embrace them - just that we are like everyone else - something less than perfect.

Hoovie,

It's the inconsistencies that bother me.

I'm going to hell for wearing modest earrings, but a young UPC lady I was talking to wearing hooker heels (which I'm sure you would have loved), said she buys them online from a known hooker supply shop. Really?

Ya, I always believed it was a false premise to equate a woman looking good (and looking like a female!) to immodesty. In some ways the concept a lady looking like a lady (thus the requirement for dresses and long hair) has conflicted with the idea that a lady must hide all "attributes" of her, ahhhhh, "woman hood". <wink wink nudge nudge say no more!>

Well, I know it upsets many around here, but yeah.

And, some of those hairstyles have the rhinestones IN the hair - - just not on their ears.

Ya, I've always wondered why women could wear jewelry in their hair, just not on their ears, or around their neck?

It is just beyond ridiculous when you really begin to look at the craziness of the clothesline requirements!

Ok, just for fun, let's list all the "inconsistencies" seen in typical Pentecost....

1. Can do French manicures with clear and pink fingernail polish. Any other color is SIN.
2. Men are forbidden to wear beards, yet Jesus most definitely had a beard.
3. Jewelry in the hair, on clothes, and wedding rings, but NOT on ears, or around the neck.

Just a few to get this started....

4. Jesus MADE wine! Yet we are to abstain from ALL drink containing alcohol. (Granted this rule isn't limited to just apostolics but to nearly all of Christendom, minus Catholics and most Lutherans of course.)

Not anymore - - it's not a big deal anymore. You can read posts on FB of ministers talking about TV series or movies they watch on DVD. It's all okay.

On the question of inconsistencies - I bet we all have a few. Admitting that we fall short in spite of, or even without best efforts, would be key, IMO.

However, on the condemnation and pronouncement of you're "going to hell" I am with you. There is really no good reason to tell someone this. I can't think of any beneficial outcome - whether the speaker is right or wrong.

1) Manicures are not done around the churches that I know. If they do it, it is likely done in a corner so as to be well hidden. However, it was known that such things did transpire in our district when we were with the UPCI (and I saw much worse than that)

2) I fail to see any relevance or inconsistancy.

3) I have seen and disliked the trend of wearing such things. The only exception that I have ever been inclined toward allowing is a bride on the wedding day. This is for obvious reasons.

No movies at the theaters, but can watch the same movie on DVD at home.

This has also irked me, and not because I support going to the theater. I think that it is disgusting that Hollywood has been allowed access to Apostolic homes with their perverted garbage.
