What are they supposed to do?
Kick the baby out?
Disown their daughter?
What would you do in their situation?
They probably understand that nothing they could say would change their daughters sin. I'm sure they've made their feelings known about it, but the choice was made and they want to keep the family together. It's their decision and out of respect I'll leave it that way.

I think it shows he'd do what just about any parent would do - love their child - and any other child they brought into this world - no matter how much you disagree with the methods - it's not the childs fault.
It should have no negative reflection on his personal beliefs - no matter what they are- unless of course he's anti-gay and vocal about gay and so forth..then again, you cant control what your children do
love the sinner - hate the sin
Thad ... do you have children??

And what would you think of him if he did this, Thad?

And it becomes even more different when your children have children. Ask me!

Why should he and his wife punish the grand kid for the daughters sin? That child needs normal love and all the mercy she can get. The deck is stacked against her for sure.

I agree with Dobson.
"We should not enter into yet another untested and far-reaching social experiment, this one driven by the desires of same-sex couples to bear and raise children," Dobson said last December. He said his position was not intended to "harm or insult women such as Cheney and Poe."
Of course, now the grandson is born and needs love and support - in spite of being illegitimate.

This is my position exactly. It is a travesty that this is happening and not just this but adoptions to gay parents. That absolutely should be illegal.
However once it is done you have to hope for the best for the kids. They are going to be raised with sin being treated as normal.
Someone posted awhile back that they saw part of the TV special Rosie Odonnell had about the cruise she spearheaded for gay parents and their children. This person posted that it was sad that there was a teen girl on there who had a crush on a teen guy (he was also the son or adopted son of homo's) and she was afraid that her mom or "moms" would be disappointed in her that she like a guy instead of a girl!! That is just sick. The kids are the losers in these situations and we have to be careful not to take things out on them that are not in their control. Can you imagine how hard it is going to be for a person from that background to embrace rightousness when all they have known is perversion called normal.

anything to divert the attention from your hero even if it means making a mean spirited slam on me. It's not the first time CC even behind my back and this is joking aside. I'm done
And what would you think of him if he did this, Thad?
I realize they are in a very diffucult place. I think I would have been more private about it. instead they were very public about it
that's for starters

CC1, I don't think it would be any different than anyone else raised in any other non-God fearing home. There are all kinds of unrightousness in the world.

They're public figures, Thad. How else can they be about things if not public?

Well, I must have missed a news story somewhere, but I would say: If it were my daughter and my grandchild...I would want to be in my grandchild's life, to love them and influence them, and that requires keeping peace with the daughter. You know, you can love your child and have a relationship with them without accepting their wrongdoing.
Further, I wouldn't expect Cheney to publicly renounce his own daughter or her actions, even if he privately disapproves.
Here's a link: http://www.showbuzz.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/23/people/main2844222.shtml
I don't see any quotes from Cheney or any details on the conception...do you have a link, Thad?
