Do you think this may be a growing trend here in the USA? Persecuting someone because they have gatherings of more than eight people regularly at their home? Is this just the city of Phoenix doing this, or are there more cases out there?

There was nothing done wrong here. The laws are made for the safety of people. What if there was a fire? Without exit lights above the doors, if that building were to be full of smoke, people could DIE in that building. The people in that bible study would not be safe. I believe there's a scripture in the bible about obeying the laws of the land. Note also that this wasn't in someone's home, but in a building.

I don't think it's religious persecution, as they outgrew his home. The building should have been up to code.

Quote from the article: The family had moved their Bible study into the building after the group outgrew their living room.
It was on their property, but it was a building, not their home.

2000 square foot building called a "game room" and neighbors complaining about the continues noise and streets being blocked. This is NOT religious persecution.
