Hello Cooking Brothers and Sisters,
What's cooking?
Yesterday at the grocery store the price of cole slaw was at $1.74 a pound. Past time to make our own at home. After buying a head of cabbage and a jar of mayonnaise, our boys and I are ready to make cole slaw.
As a team we used the food processor to shred our cabbage. It was really shredded. We were eating parts of cabbage as we worked. In our bowl we added the mayonaise then some lemon juice, sugar, salt, and diced walnuts.
We know our cole slaw tastes better than the store bought, sorry Walmart.
Even Vickie my wife thought it was very good!
Next, we want to make potato salad. Any ideas?
Happy cooking!
In Jesus,
Brother Bruce

Wellll...I put nearly the entire kitchen sink in our potato salad...:D
Usually something like this:
3 lbs. New Potatoes, peeled, cooked firm, diced
3 Eggs, boiled, diced
1 Red onion, chopped
1/4 c. Green olives, minced
1/4 c. dill pickles, minced
Slivered almonds (optional)
Mayonnaise (homemade...tastes much better!)...probably a cup? I dunno...just to taste and consistency.
Mustard (just a little bit)
Salt & Pepper to taste
Top with crisply fried, crumbled bacon right before serving
(We also use this same potato salad minus the almonds and bacon with gumbo.)

You guys are leaving out the Vinegar it seems... try adding a little vinegar to the mayo mix... it will give it that good slaw taste...

I usually add Ranch Dressing to my Potato Salad. It gives it a lot of flavor.

One of the best things that I have ever had was an apple added to the cole
slaw.A big green Granny Smith.
I make plain potato salad.I like it best.
5 lbs red potatoes peeled and cubed.
salt
pepper
mayo
small amount of prepared mustard
eight boiled eggs
1.Put the saucepan on with water and a dash of salt
when it boils add potatoes. When tender drain and set aside to cool.
2.Hard boil the eggs and make sure to put them under cold water after so the
shells come off easier.Peel and separate the whites from the yolks.Chop the whites up and in a bowl stir in a few teaspoons of water and about two tablespoons mustard and stir until smooth.
3.In a large bowl place the mustard and a cup or two of mayo, salt and pepper
and stir well. This is the dressing.
4.Stir in the potatoes.I like to chill it but it can be eaten warm.
add lots of bacon to the tater salad.
the best i know of has
potatos
boild eggs
big chunks of dill pickles
bacon
may
mustard
salt
pepper.
dont ask amounts I dont have a clue. but that is all there is in there.

I make a cole slaw that we only eat with fish. It is an old family recipe.
Cole Slaw (in the bag)
Diced Tomatoes
Onion
Mayo
Salt and Pepper
It probably sounds weird but it is really good with fried fish.
