I have almost all the words to this song...
Can anyone help me find the rest of the words or correct me on what I have? I'm not sure how many will know of this song but if you do your help will be greatly appreciated.
The bolded lines are the ones I am not sure of. I also invite any input on any of the others that are wrong.
I’m A Pentecostal
Verse 1
We’ve been known to get loud
And let our hair hang down
Sing ‘til we get ?????
Rollin’ on the ground
We cranked up the music
We danced all around
Shouted Hallelujah
As His glory came down
This is just our style
The way we do our thang
We’re the Pentecostals
Baptized in Jesus name.
Chorus
I’m a Pentecostal
I am not ashamed
Just read the book of Acts
We are still the same
We worship only one God
Jesus is his name
We are apostolic in every way
Verse 2a
Some think we’re crazy
Others think we’re strange
But when I got the Holy Ghost
I could not contain
More exciting than a party
Higher than a drug
It’s the greatest feeling
Being washed in His blood
When you’re tired of tradition
Religion done you wrong
You’re feeling tired & empty
No longer have a song
Verse 2b
Hey the story is not over
Things for you can change
You’ll feel the fire burning
As the Spirit starts to blaze
There are millions who have come
And there’s millions on the way
They’re leaving their dead churches
For this Pentecostal faith
There is a hunger in the world
That gets stronger every day
Their crying out for Pentecost
And that is why I say

Have you heard it before or do you dislike it from the lyrics (recognizing that disliking from the lyrics is reason enough for one to dislike something... just asking)

Yes, I've definitely heard it. CLC and WD Conference.
The beat and music are great, but it's one of those..."ALL ABOUT ME" songs. I prefer songs that worship God for who He is, not songs that are about who we are. "Friend of God" is a similar proclaimation, although this one doesn't bother me quite as much...

Thad you need to make sure that CC1 and Pianoman gets this song in the hands of the music department at Christ Church!!
It will start a track meet!! :lol

sort of a "bragging Rights" type of message.. I guess one can take it that way. I don't think every song we sing has to be directly to God, although most should be. but some songs are to encourage the believer, confirm our faith, strenghten the weak etc.
IMO, a song like this is okay sometimes perhaps as a celebration of who we are ans what God has given us . i would rather people be proud(in the right way!!) of who we are then embarrassed. for many years Pentecostals were denegraded as the scum of society.

they wouldn't know what to do if the holyghost hit that place :heeheehee

I am glad someone said this statement on here! :)
I don't recall all the lyrics, but here's partial. :D
We’ve been known to get wild, swing our hair around
Drink nyquil till we get merry, mouths foamin' while rolling on the ground
We’ve cranked up the music, break-danced all around
Shouting hallelujah , proclaiming our Pentecostal selves.
It is just our style, the way we do our thing
We’re the Pentecostals, and vain is our middle name
Chorus:
I’m a Pentecostal, I am not Ashamed
Just read the book of Acts, we're kinda still the same
We worship only one God, sometimes Pentecostalism is his name
We would like to think we're apostolic, in every way.

Some think we’re crazy, others think we're strange
If you’re tired of traditions, religions done you wrong
Come join another religion with a classy anthem song.

Someone here on the forum said this is a praise-me sort of song, I agree! Praise GOD, not us! :D IMHO. It's sort of "I am better than you".

The real song is not better than the parody of the song.
I find the words and spirit of the song embarassing.

I personally think it is an arrogant song.
I think it's the dumbest song ever...
it really makes us look stupid.
If we lived and acted like we should, we wouldnt need an anthem proclaming "what" we are...
besides, I think the lyrics are downright stupid
LOL

Sounds like a lot of emotion- but I think people have a hard time knowing the difference between emotion and an authentic move of God.

Dedicated to those who don't like the song:
I am NON-denominational
I am not ashamed
We stand for nothing
Only trying to to get a name
Baptize to please the masses
Nothing is essential
Only your money and your time
We are Non-denominational
That is why our numbers climb.:whistle:aaa

Songs and other things serve other purposes than praising God but also to edify the body and to be encouraged and have our faith strengthened. By that we can continue to worship and praise Him

I like it the same as I would if the Baptists sang "I'm a Southern Baptist - I'm not ashamed..."
It just does nothing for me.

Nothing wrong with emotion either..in fact when there is a genuine move of God I can be quite emotional...

BTW for that other song someone here hated it goes
"I'm a one-God Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy-roller, born-again, Heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus' name. I've been washed in the blood, sanctified by the spirit, I believe in holiness and I suggest you do the same. I was set free at an Apostolic altar on my knees so you'll pardon me if I'm not ashamed to be a one-God Apostolic, tongue-talking, holy-roller, born-again, heaven-bound believer in the liberating power of Jesus' name."
