This is a thread to tell what your church is doing for Jesus Christ.
The church I now attend has what they call the Oasis Care Shelter for women of drug abuse. They are currently building a men's shelter for rehab also. They run the Oasis Cafe and Thrift Store(volunteers run it)to help fund these shelters.(non-profit--no money goes for running Eagle Heights Church.) They also have a soup kitchen and a food pantry. The church has many clubs and ministries. Some of the congregation recently returned from Haiti, where they had offered their professional services--doctors, dentist, preachers and hands on workers. They also have a coffee shop in the church--we drink coffee during services and all proceeds help with various things. They have dreams of some day building a homeless shelter. What's going on in your church?

I must say your church sounds like it is truly fulfilling the gospel of Christ, not like some that boast that they have web sites, that are teaching and preaching on line. From where I sit the world needs less teaching and preaching by words, and more from actions. While Jesus did teach he healed the sick, fed the hungry, raised the dead and met the needs of those he came into contact with.

There is a book I picked up at a Global church last year, don't know if you can get it at a book store or not, as it seems they give this book away not sell it. It is Called "the Hole in our Gospel" It is an eye opener for those that truly want to understand God. If any are interested in finding out more about this book you can message me.

God Bless You from KentuckyLove, love, love what God has enabled your church to do for the community. I also love that none of the money is going to the church but into the community to help the poor. God bless you all!

But why build a community shelter? Why not renovate a disused building?

The church of which I'm a part numbers in the millions and has one head, Jesus Christ. The gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Bad news this Sunday. I found out that the church has had to temporarily close the Oasis Cafe and soup kitchen due to lack of funding. We're praying for a miracle. The Cafe itself isn't the issue--it's the soup kitchen. A lot of people walk to the cafe for the soup kitchen--now when they get there--it's closed. The thrift store is still going and the shelter/care center and coffee shop. I think that the shelter/care center would be the last to go.
Yeshua Bless You
