Having the tendency to have severe muscle spasms myself, I truly feel for your wife.

When she gets relieved, I will be glad to share with you some things I do to help prevent the severe spasms in the future.

There are several things that help my terrible spasms. All are somewhat pricy but it's worth the relief for me.

Disclaimer:
The below is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease, illness or disorder. Always check with your health care provider. I am sharing what helps my muscle spasms to my sisters in Christ.

1. Topricin. No smell and great pain relief. http://www.topricin.com

2. Frankensence Pure Essential Oil. I get a used dark colored bottle with a dropper and put 4-6 drops in/per 1 teaspoon of grapeseed oil (ratio of 6:1) My bottle holds 12 teaspoons of grapeseed oil so I put 72 drops of Frankensence essential oil in 12 teaspoons of grapeseed oil.
I rub that into the areas where My muscles are spasming and it really helps my pain. Frankensence oil smells so good and it is a Biblical oil.

3. Olbas Oil http://www.olbas.com
This is a good oil blended with Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Caljeput, Wintergreen, Juniper and Clove oils. It gives me a lot of relief, especially when my back muscles start to spasm. They spasm so hard that they literally feel hard as a cement block. The only thing about Olbas I don't like is that during the winter I freeze when I use it. It feels sort of like that Icy/Hot preparation, only it uses essential oils and is stinky like BenGay. Olbas is great for my arthritic pain too.

So yes, I know what Mrs. Jedi is going through.

Let's not forget to learn how to gently stretch muscles.
