My background is with the UPCI. This may sound very strange but I have many unanswered questions regarding my own doctrine. I removed myself from the church so that I can seek God from the perspective of someone who can think for himself.

Maybe some digging, or playing the devil’s advocate, but there are less bias resources that I use for the harder questions. In my studies I find a lot of inconsistencies between the doctrine and the literal interpretation of Scripture. I've been reading some good books on biblical hermeneutics and systematic theology. These subjects were always taboo in my youth.
