View Full Version : Prayer request for my uncle
My mom's brother was airlifted this morning at 3:30. They think he had a stroke. BP was 200/100. His right side has been affected, and he was unresponsive to verbal commands.
This is the same uncle who fell from a ladder onto concrete and shattered his knee and broke his leg just a short time ago.
His name is George. Also please say a prayer for his wife, Margie.
Prayers are greatly appreciated.
I will update the thread when I have any more information.
Oh my Tina, that is sad.
Will be praying.

My dad just heard from my aunt. She said that they are still running tests to see exactly what is going on-- but that they are fairly certain that he has had another light stroke since he arrived at the hospital. He can't move either of his arms at this time.
This doesn't sound like a stroke to me... I thought a stroke mainly affected one side of the body???
Please continue to pray....
Part of the test results are back in. His blood pressure is still very high, and they have found a blockage in his neck. They are still running some other tests, and I'm not really sure what kind of tests.
I just found out that he had blacked out in the shower yesterday around 9am, and was taken to the ER where they did a CT Scan, which came back clear. I didn't know that previously when I posted.
He had been talking to some of the family at the hospital earlier this afternoon, and at the last report had told all but his wife to go HOME so he could get some rest. I can only imagine how tired he is after being put through all those tests.
Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Praying, Sis. Tina!
God is in control no matter how out of control a situation appears to our eyes!
BP 175/101
Still not sure what they plan to do about the blockage in his neck.
Other tests came back with good results. (Still don't know what those tests were)
He has regained strength in the left side, and all appears normal on that side. The right side, however, is very weak-- and his speech is slurred somewhat.
I know God can continue to work in this situation, and bring complete healing.
Uncle George was once filled with the Holy Ghost in a Baptist church.... this could be God's way of getting him back where he needs to be.
Continued prayers are appreciated.
I just received a call from my Mom--she said that Uncle George had another stroke. He can't move his right side at all, and is unable to speak.
Please continue to pray...........

My parents just left the hospital not long ago, and Mom called to give me an update.
My uncle is trying to talk, but it is very difficult for anyone to understand him. They did understand that he was trying to say my dad's first name when they walked into the room. So at least they know that he does recognize and know familiar faces. He was able to move his right leg just a little bit late this afternoon, but as of yet, there is still no movement in the right arm.
The doctors have said that there are pieces of plaque that have broken loose from the artery in his neck, leaving a weak place in the artery and those pieces of plaque are floating around in his brain. They say that if one of those pieces of plaque lodges in his brain, it could cause a massive stroke.
I do not want to dwell on this negative report. I want to believe God that these pieces of plaque are going to be removed, and not become lodged anywhere.
Will update as I get more information.
To those of you who are praying for my uncle, It is greatly appreciated.
MY UNCLE TALKED TO MY MOM ON THE PHONE THIS AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!!
He has been moved to Rehab in Corinth MS.
Mom & Dad visited him there yesterday, and they were told that he'd been doing pretty much everything for himself.
I'm going to see him this afternoon, and take him a small TV, VCR and some Gaither videos to watch---and a pineapple milkshake from Sonic. :D

My hubby and I went to visit Uncle George today.
He talked very little, he was tired. He wants to talk more, but seems to be having some problems in getting what he is thinking into words. I guess that is considered normal after having three strokes. He is VERY blessed to be doing so well within such a short time after the strokes.
He has 75% of the use of his arm that was affected by the stroke. They said that the physical therapy may help him regain almost all the strength/use of that arm again.
I was talking with my aunt about things I remembered from childhood-- She had asked me to do so to see how far back he was able to remember. He remembered everything we talked about.
He is still having VERY bad headaches, which they said is one of the side effects of some of the medication they have him on. I know that God is able to take care of those headaches.
He also still has the problem of the plaque floating around in his brain. We are praying that the Lord will just take care of this for him, as the doctors say there's nothing they can do for it.
He wants to come home so badly-- and they have told him that once the medication levels are regulated, they will let him come home and have a physical therapist come work with him there.
He still has the brace on his leg where they had to fix it after his shock and the fall from the ladder that happened due to the electric shock.
He is a very blessed man. He has a lot of faith-- and I believe his faith is going to get him through this.

Sis. Tina,
Do you have an update on your uncle George! Still believing God will
bring this dear man through!!
Also, how is Scott that we prayed for who was not expected to live.
But the family didn't prepare their children for their dad to die, but to
live. And he lived!! Thank You, Jesus.
Blessings,

He was able to go for a short time out of the rehab center yesterday. My aunt took him for a ride in the truck to sonic to get a milkshake. :D
I haven't gotten any more messages about him today, but I have been very busy at youth camp and haven't really had a chance to check in with all who have been keeping me posted. I'll see if I can get an update tonight from Mom or one of my aunts that went to see him today. I'll post it when I get one. :)
The last time Dad talked to his sister, Scott was doing very well. Thanks for asking :)

Update:
My uncle George is going to have to go to Birmingham AL next Wednesday Aug 8 for a consultation with a surgeon. The blockage in his neck is at 85%. None of the surgeons in this area will attempt this operation to fix it. They have told him that if this isn't fixed, that he could have another stroke that would either kill him or leave him as a vegetable.
It would be greatly appreciated if you'd continue to remember him in your prayers.

I had posted a new request for him today. It was posted as a sticky. There was a link to this old thread inside that post because of all the past medical problems that I didn't want to retype, and someone bumped this post....
