Do any of you have fruit trees?

We have some pear trees that do well each year. Also have
some fig trees that have yet to produce, not quite big enough
just yet.

Planted a satsuma tree that I thought the frost killed, but, thankfully,
it's come back out and seems to be thriving.

Yesterday hubby planted several plum trees for me. That's one
of my favorite fruits! :nod

Do you like fig preserves Cindy?
They are so good on hot biscuits or toast.

Oh, we also have some quince trees set out,
but, not producing yet. They make great
jelly!

Planted 2 apples, 2 peaches, and 2 plums last year. One plum died, one of the peaches looks pretty bad, and the rest are doing fine. No fruit yet. Well, I think the dead plum had a couple of plums before it died. Birds got 'em.

I sure didn't like figs when I was a kid. Had a tree in the back yard that made a huge mess! And I got to clean it up! (At least, some of the time. ;))

We have a lemon, grapefruit, a "standard" orange, and a blood orange tree in our backyard. We just picked about 10 gallons of lemons this past weekend -and there are still lemons on it!

That is next. Our local Home Depot just got a bunch of them in.

Cool.

If we get citrus, it'll have to be dwarves in pots, so we can take them into a shed for the winter. Might do that now. In fact, yeah, I just decided! :)

Is that the orange with red flesh?
A friend gave us some of those to eat this year.
I had never seen any "red meat" oranges (as my
hubby called them. They were good though.

Who said I've grown up?! :lol

But no, not particularly. Can take 'em or leave 'em. I'll have a dried fig now and then, maaaybe a fresh one every couple of decades. ;)

But I have always liked Fig Newtons. Go figure! :lol

We just planted two plum trees. They were my birthday present. ;) Planning to plant pears next. I love peaches, but I've never seen a peach tree around here that produced anything but hard, small ones.

Also planted a blackberry vine. I can't wait until they all start producing! :)

No. Haven't seen any, that I can recall. Sounds pretty good, though.

Timmy, if you had figs preserved the way my mama used to preserve them, you would love them.....that is if you like hot buttered biscuits. You couldn't taste the fuzzy peel. I have never liked a raw fig.

A couple of peach trees are what I want to plant next!
We do have a few wild huckleberry bushes around...they
grow all over the place here. Used to walk down the dirt
road from my house and get up in the bushes to pick them,
but, I don't venture that far anymore since I got a good
case of the redbugs one time!

Yes, I think Timmy would love fig preserves! :nod

To hear my hubby tell it, I make a good jar of preserves! lol

I never liked eating the figs raw either because of that fuzzy
peeling....just like I don't like to eat a peach with the peeling!

Yes, they can have a very red interior. The deeper into the tree and more shaded the orange, the redder they are. Ones exposed to full Sun will not look much different than a regular orange.

I have a fig tree and LOVE fig preserves.

If you like strawberry preserves I have a recipe that taste exactly like strawberries. But I prefer fig to strawberry, but the color is beautiful in strawberry.

This will be the third year for my tree and IF the birds would leave them alone I might get enough to mess with. :)

Put some aluminum pie plates in the trees, it is suppose to scare the birds away.

My daddy always did that. But, the birds get wise to that
after a little while!

Have you ever tried figs and strawberries mixed as a preserve
together? Never tried it, but, have heard it's very good too.

We have had a few peach trees but never got much fruit out of them, or whatever the birds didn't get. We did have a huge fig tree, and I made a few desserts with the figs, but didn't try to preserve them.

I have heard it is very good too, but never did try it. I make strawberry jam every year though, it is a staple here at our home.

Yes, you're right. It's the jello, not strawberries, that you add.

We have apple, pear, plum and cherry trees. We had peach, but they keep dying and we gave up on them. I took a picture of one of our plum trees, but I don't know how to get it from the phone to here. Maybe I'll figure it out. Or ask the kids. lol.
