I've done this before but here we go again :happydance
I use Logos Library
https://www.logos.com/
I chose it because not only can you do exegetical studies it includes a LOT of books besides commentaries but also books on leadership, prayer meetings, weddings etc etc. It's an all around resource for ministry. But there are several upgrades. The Leadership one includes the ministry books and stuff. I started with Original languages and downgraded to leadership to add some commentaries and other resources.
Then I single purchased some books to add on.
If you want straight exegetical stuff Try BibleWorks
http://www.bibleworks.com/
Personally, if I had the money I'd get Bibleworks too. Their tablet app looks better than my Logos
Free stuff I use
Esword plus some premium content like Zodhaites wordstudy and the NET bible commentary (which is free for the older model now)
http://www.e-sword.net/
http://www.e-sword.net/wordstudy.html
I do a lot of concordance quick searches in esword and then Logos for deeper stuff

Logos is pretty cool and they have a newer version I have not upgraded too yet
But in mine you can click on "biblical places" and up pops a MAP. You can click on a linked location like Ephesus and get results from your library
And to be honest I still have not taken full advantage of this tool. It's pretty complex if you want to learn everything about Logos.
the first page opens up like a web portal with news updates from Logos, suggestions from the Library you own, sometimes even a free book of the month
The APP is ok and works with faithlife study bible now
You can make your own community with Faithlife and share stuff. Watch the Video here

Oh and never just buy Logos outright. By a lesser upgrade and make sure you surf the Net for a discount code first
Then upgrade at your convenience later

I wish I was more computer savvy and yet my daughter just graduated from college with a degree in graphic design and commercial art.

I've got logos 3 gold with 2000 resources but my search and cross reference isn't working. So I'm going to purchase logos 5 starter version and copy resources.

ETC ETC...once you get used to using Logos it's not so "big"...One of my favorite books is the book on figures of speech found in the bible. It's an older book but really good.

For Logos the app is basically the same as my android. You get access to your library (online) but can download certain resources. You can press on a word in a verse and look up the word in your Greek or Hebrew dictionary. You can do a bible word study and check your commentaries.
You can use it as an ebook reader too to access your library and take it on the go
Also you can "link" panels where you can have the bible in the upper part and a second part like another version or a commentary that will keep up with whatever is in the first panel. So if you go to a different verse the bottom panel will go there too

Sounds a whole lot like QuickVerse, which I have. How does it compare with QV?
Not being very computer literate, I don't use all of the features that I have. But it is a good system.

This may be a stupid question, but does one have to have the PC version before they can get it for smartphone?

You can download the basic APP for the Iphone/Android or Tabs but it won't have all the books. You can purchase the full version and just install the APP since all your books will be in an online data base anyways. You can also download certain books to your phone or tab

I have the latest. Professional Version 5. All comes down to what you want to do. I use Esword all the time as well for quick stuff as Prax listed. I like the authoring system on PCSB. I put works that I can copy and paste into a WOrd doc. and reference it into my PC Study Bible just as any other work. So it is part of my search criteria on subject or scriptures etc... I have had it probably 20 years and about the same with Logos. Both are good. Seminary is strictly Bibleworks but for the average Joe I don't recommend it.

yeah... I have most of my works already in PCSB when they started the Joshua project. Never tried to do what in Logos as they came out with something similar much later. I used Logos up to Version 4 mainly. I loaded 5 on my PC for but never really used it much. I got a new CPU in Feb and never loaded 5 on.

Which one? There are several levels in both and I bet the most expensive PCSB has less books than the most expensive Logos

Yep... For the price PCSB is better for most. Logos is excellent but I like the interface a little better. If I was going simply for works by number I would go with Logos. However most of the stuff they have I really don't need anyway and simply won't use.

I used it for about oh maybe a month but used it little. I will probably load it again in the next month. Been extremely busy and just now had time to get on here. I got it because it has more works and if something I really want is out in digital it is more likely to have it.
