Very interesting map of the US and the different pronunciations we use in different areas of the country.
So far, I've been pretty true to my NW heritage. :heeheehee

My husband and I have actually had fights about this! I was born in raised in Wisconsin, but have lived in Georgia for almost 10 years now). He was born and raised here (though worked hard in his teen years to not have a southern accent).
He gets irritated when I say "Car-mel" (when to him it is obviously Car-a-mel).
And I once has to "prove" that in certain parts of the country the word Creek is pronounced "Crick" even though it makes no earthly sense.
I of course, occasionally say "Avery's thirsty, is there a Bubbler around here" to which nobody understand, LOL
I come across new ones from time to time. I was at a flea market, looking at baby clothes, and mentioned how much I love Bibs on my daughters. The lady thought I was referring to the cloth that goes around your neck to catch food, but I meant overalls.

In Pierre, SD, "Pierre" is pronounced "Peer". Everywhere else in the entire world, it is pronounced "Pee-air". (Having typed that out, now I see why they don't want to say it that way! :lol)

In East Texas where I was raised a "crick" is a tightness in the muscles of ones neck. :)
