Anyone else see this show on Discovery? I have to admit I was a bit shocked when I started seeing the ads for it but after watching several episodes it is REALLY about hard core survivalist. Sure the people could at least be give some undergarments, but except for a few whiners, they are some of the toughest people I've seen. Their "nakedness"
has not gotten in the way at all, except in one case where the guy got horribly sunburnt the very first day.

Oh, and this guy really suffered for not having any shoes.

:highfive Another of those shows that I have absolutely NO interest in even checking out. Thanks for the heads up, Randy.

Nudist Survivalists! Sheesh!

These people aren't "nudists' except for the duration of the show, which is filmed over 21 days. The point is that they are all skilled survivalists who are dropped in some area with only a single item of their choosing. One usually picks a cutting tool and the other picks who-knows-what.

It also sounds like an effective weight loss plan as each person usually loses 20-40 lbs depending on their starting weight, over the three weeks.

For the record I wouldn't either. It is simply not a realistic survival scenario that one would ever find themselves in.

RandyWayne, you really shouldn't put such "dirty" pictures on AFF. :foottap :happydance

No, but I'm sure some survivalist guy invented the idea thinking it would be great fun!

That is just it. Is is the ultimate 'challenge'. For hardcore survivalist, if they are allowed to put together a kit of all the things they think they'll need up to whatever they can physically carry, you could drop them off in the woods and see them a year later, virtually no worse for wear. But to have almost no tools and no cloths, that is what separates the men from the boys.

Another couple from the show.

As you can see, they usually manage to fashion some very basic "clothing" very early on in the challenge.

That guy's tattoo is sickening. This country is beginning to look like a scene from Avatar - everyone looking blue. Man, I just really, really hate tattoos. Ugh! :heeheehee

Me too. Unfortunately, I have friends in apo/pentecostal churches who have gotten a tattoo recently.

I agree. We were at a local home town event here recently, and there was an arts and crafts booth area set up in the park. From a distance, you could see there was a booth that was extremely busy, I mean, the line stretched all the way almost around the park. I was curious what was drawing so many people to this booth. When we got close enough to see what it was, I realized it was a tattoo booth with wash-off tattoos... with kids and adults both waiting in line for hours just to get this tattoo! Now that is crazy if you ask me!!!!

I've been thinking about what I would want for a tattoo for quite a while (not constantly, just off and on) and the only thing keeping me from getting one is that I cannot find, or even think of, a piece of art work that I would want on me for the next 40 years.

Having said that, some tats I have seen, both in real life and on some of the various tattoo shows are absolutely stunning!

I have to agree. I have seen some stunning tattoo art. The guy's tattooing on the referenced show is nothing close to art. Just not my style. His type of a tattoo looks trashy, IMO.

It's a lot like jewelry for me. I like to look at it, but I don't like wearing it. I bought a new Fossil watch and I never wear it. lol Of course, jewelry is prettier than a tattoo, but no doubt some of it is talented artwork.

I have never seen people so obsessed as I have with tattooing. Have no idea what the trend will be in 20 years. Remember when only pirates had tattoos? :heeheehee

I just read an article today about the dangers of tattooing over a mole as you won't be able to detect melanoma.

My son's tattoo is not recent, from his days of playing the drums in a band, but he has a Texas flag tattoo on his upper arm. We don't talk about it because he knows I don't like them.

Yes, some are amazing pieces of art. I'd just rather it be on canvas and in a frame, where it can stay the same shape and size. :lol

And I personally think some of the ostentatious hairdos and pinup outfits in the Pentecostal churches are sickening. But we should probably both keep our opinions to ourselves.

Awwww, and here I thought the original Bride-of-Frankenstein was such a trend setter! "Her" hairdo is STILL popular at church camps! -Minus the coloring of course (in most cases).

Betty White has a show where old people play pranks on young people. In one episode, an elderly woman was loudly telling her elderly friend about getting a tattoo, then stood to show her 'tramp stamp' on her back in front of the young women at a nearby table. The looks on their faces were priceless when the old woman exclaimed, "I'm open for business!"
