Just the normal stock firmware that came with my Canon 60D (although I have upgraded it once).

It sounds like something I would like to check out but am a bit hesitant at the thought of potentially bricking my camera.

Shoot, my hand has been three inches above the Enter key when it comes to running some software designed to root my Droid Razr phone. Dozens of times I almost did it, but am scared to death of wrecking it beyond repair.

How do u update the firmware on the camera?
You download the specific binary file from the manufacturer then move it to the SD card. Start the camera with the card and is should (depending on camera) update automatically.
