Does anyone know how I should go about signing up for the WPF? Is it by invite only or do I have to contact them? Also, is the WPF only for preachers? I am leaving the UPCI but still want men to fellowship with. My only concern with the WPF is that they don't allow beards or neatly trimmed mustaches. Although, I don't see that as a make or break.

I would contact some of the WPF brethren in your area and maybe fellowshipwith them before making a move to join. Also..I'm certain there are some good conservative independent brethren in your area.

Facial hair will be a make or break for them.

I don't understand how it could be a make or break, my goatee is very trim and clean cut. Are you in the WPF? Does anyone know who I could appeal to? I thought Doctor Nathaniel Wilson was in charge...last I heard.

Simple, you will be judged for having facial hair.

What if I go dressed as Jesus, would they turn down Jesus because he had a beard?

Thank you Lacey, I will fill out an application and let everyone know how it turns out. They have denied several of my elders in the past over other issues but I will be sure to inform them of my view towards facial hair.

I truly do not have any ulterior motives. I simply appreciate the security of an organization and the UPCI is not heading in the direction that I feel is right. I don't see there being any issues, if there are then there is no reason I cannot let others know how things went so that they will know what to expect.

Color me skeptical. The application can be submitted electronically, though even with that, it came in the mail already this morning? That's an incredibly quick turnaround.

Sorry I failed to mention, Congrats!

I don't see why you don't believe me, Tulsa is only 4 hours from where I pastor.

kclee4jc,

I guess it's possible. Sorry to insinuate anything against you. It just seems really quick for it to be reviewed, approved and mailed back to you. There must not be as much vetting as I would think.

Maybe I should send in an application! :toofunny

I deleted it. I should not have posted that. It just also surprised me that you were accepted that quick especially with your already stated differences with the WPF.

Most of the men in the WPF are wonderful men of God and take very good stands on holiness issues. I'm certain you will enjoy their fellowship. Our church fellowships mostly with the WPF any more, as well as independents and a few other orgs. I agree with you about the general wrong direction the UPCI seems to be heading.

its a very conservative org.

Adding to the Word of God, taking 'liberties' with the Word, teaching things not taught in the Word because 'well, times are different now' is hardly 'conservative'.

Maybe 'neo-conservative' (ie cloaked liberalism) would be a better term...

Legalism is not holiness.

I haven't raised the dead. Of course I haven't been to a WPF congregation to to that. The others, I've done. I haven't shaved in 3 weeks. Giving Willie Roberson a run for his money.

The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus..(OH YES!! It IS LAW!) hath made me free from the law of sin and death...Which is why we abstain from all appearance of evil,we preach many things that seem to be HARD,to the carnal mind. The Holy Ghost is given to us to overcome our self-will,and to cause us to follow His LAW.

Ironic, the path the WPF takes to "holiness" is the same path Paul compared to witchcraft in Galatians. That's the kind of holiness the church needs.

He disagrees. Lol

My kids did the music at a prophetic conference this summer. Power move of God. The guest minister prophesied over my kids and told them they would be the catalyst God uses to awaken dead churches. On the way home, my daughter asked me if that meant we were going back to the upci. I reminder the prophecy said dead churches, not dead organizations. I thought I heard a sigh of relief.

I'm sure your children did a good job with the music at the conference.

Not sure what church organization YOUR church is in, but, I gather
you believe it's alive and well more so than UPCI.

You sure about what that 'sigh' was for?
