He was taken into "investigative detention" and later released for allegedly threatening his ex-wife and her father with a gun.

According to Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell, Shellie Zimmerman called 911 claiming George Zimmerman had a gun and was making threats. The victims are not speaking to police and were waiting for their attorney to arrive, Bracknell said.

"He’s in his car and he continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying 'step closer' and he’s just threatening all of us," Shellie Zimmerman said in the 911 call.

As of 3:45 p.m., no arrests have been made and George Zimmerman is "no longer in investigative detention," according to police, but is still at the home. Police are investigating the incident as a domestic battery.

News reports that George Zimmerman has been taken into custody after his estranged wife called police to her father’s house, saying the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted of murder threatened her with a gun.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells The Associated Press that Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

In response, Zimmerman’s brother Robert took to Twitter: “We’ve learned from GZ case not to ‘jump to conclusions’, to wait for facts, & to avoid speculation. ‘News’ is a business – not your friend.”

I may be completely wrong, but I feel like this is just a matter of his wife having GZ over a barrell. She filed for divorce. She wants him gone. She also knows the media hates him and will believe anything in the world negative about him. So they get into an argument or whatever, she knows all she has to do is cry "he threatened us with a gun" and the news will flock to her support. So GZ is stuck havign to either take whatever she dishes out and be a whipping boy, or stand up for himself and risk her pulling the "he's violent and has a gun" card.

She dropped any charges by the way. If I was threatened with a gun I can assure you I wouldn't drop/refuse to press charges.

LAKE MARY, Fla - Lake Mary Police are now questioning the validity of several statements Shellie Zimmerman made when she told 911 dispatchers her estranged husband, George Zimmerman, threatened her and her father at gunpoint Monday afternoon.

"We did not find a gun, did not locate a weapon," said Zach Hudson, public information officer with the Lake Mary Police Department. "Nobody ever saw a gun. A gun is not part of this story."

Still, a gun was at the crux of the account Shellie Zimmerman provided to 911 dispatchers when calling for help.

"He continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying, 'Step closer.' He is just threatening all of us," Shellie can be heard telling dispatchers.

Hudson told ABC Action News Shellie provided a written statement Monday night saying she never saw a gun and only assumed her estranged husband was carrying a weapon because he touched his stomach.

Shellie called police to her father's home on Sprucewood Road around 2 p.m. She claimed George punched her father in the face and threatened both of them with a gun.

"He accosted my father and then took my IPad and then smashed it and cut it with a pocketknife. I don't know what he is capable of. I am really really scared," Shellie told dispatchers.

According to authorities, Shellie's father did not have any visible injuries.

In the 911 call, Shellie asked the dispatcher to send paramedics because her father's nose looked like it was broken.

There are also other inconsistencies police pointed to on the 911.

Shellie told dispatchers that officers arrived and had their guns drawn. She said George was sitting in his car. Fearing George would start shooting, she told the dispatcher her and her father were going inside.

According to police, George was not in his car when they arrived but was standing in the yard. They say he was also very cooperative and allowed police to search his person.

There had better be charges filed against Shellie for what she did. What a lying, conniving, vile, evil woman. She doesn't love GZ. I think she hoping the cops would come, guns blazing and shoot GZ. This woman is bad news and GZ needs to just get out of Dodge. Kick her to the curb, walk away and don't look back. Hopefully, the divorce settlement will leave her with nothing.

She cannot be trusted. She knows people hate GZ and just like Jermyn did, whatever she says some people will automatically assume she's telling the truth because they have prejudice against GZ for shooting Trayvon Martin.

She won't have to hire anyone. She only has to continue to stir people up by her interviews and lies. It's a great set-up, because her hands won't be on it, at least not directly.

I took notice of her character when she was interviewed just recently. The Commentator asked her if she wished that George was with her during her last court appearance. She calls George selfish without realizing astute people would know his life is still in danger and, of course, he can't show up in public at the courthouse. Did she want him to hand out "save the date" cards to an incensed public? No, Shellie is the one who is selfish. I have no respect for her after that interview.

Saw that O'Mara was involved. I imagine he told her she better get her act together or suffer the consequences.

Remember, he in fact does have at least one previous accusation of violence from a woman.

Apparently, the iPad captured some video of the confrontation between white trash and Georgie. The police said thus far it's been very difficult trying to get the video from the device because of the lack of equipment needed to do so.
