Today Brother Alvear, Sister Fatima and I went to buy things for our church kitchen and things for this weekend. and next weeks projects. As some of you know I have had double pneumonia and was not feeling real good but have to press on. Brother Alvear said, I will get gas while you ladies get the things needed for the church kitchen, (food, supplies, a table and a couple of chairs) I handed him my bag that had my I pad, phone, church money, our money and some other things and said, maybe you should keep this until we finish...he was gone about 30 minutes or so...got back to the store and run in to tell us he was back. He locked the car and guards stand at each side of the small parking lot...He forgot to bring the bag in so I went after it and low and behold someone had broke the handle of the car opened the door got the bag and was gone...all within maybe at the longest 5 minutes but I really don't think that long...So that means a lot of good people will not have food...and I hate I lost my I pad with all my pictures and things...However am worried about money for soup kitchen and help for this months projects that was with me as I was taking some help to some of the people tonight...
anyone no one harmed us and we did report it to the police...(which does little good here) Anyway...the devil fights...I told Fatima it will take more than someone stealing my I pad as much as I enjoyed it for me to lose the victory! I know after 45 years on the field God will move on someone to help us buy things for our people and projects....Just keep us in prayers as Brother Alvear feels we may be being watched again...

We were followed tonight on the way to church and then the car passed us and kept trying to get us to pull over...there were 4 men in the car...am wondering if it had anything to do with what happened today?

probably kidnapers trying to kidnap you and then extort money from your family.

or perhaps they wanted to return your bag.

I don't mean to be rude in any way, but if I was responsible for anyone's money, I would always have it on my person.

The police in my area are always warning us not to leave anything of importance or of value in our vehicles. That is something we think about every time we get out of our vehicles.

I had it but gave it to Brother Alvear to hold and bring in when he came in because I have been so sick and fainted the other day so I did not want to have it on me...however he forgot as he has never carried my bag and when he came in I went to get it and it was gone...I am sure it was my fault but it happened...our people are very thankful we were not kidnapped...or shot at like they did to the Baptist missionary here. Last night after all that on our way to church 4 men tried to stop us....

Abraham Chacon Sister Alvear, I don't understand. As much theft as there is in your location, why would you or your husband take a purse full of valuables and money anywhere? It would make sense if you're going to put $20 of gas, only take $20 and leave everything else at home. And why would a purse be left in the car? Is there a small safe in
your house? I would assume the less you carry and store away, the less the thieves are able to steal.
Ontem às 17:58 via celular · Curtir

Janice Alvear you do not understand we took it to buy food and things for the soup kitchen and from there were taking some money to a needy church and going to buy other things for the work. I had my I pad with me to study in betwen stops for a meeting I have to do next week...we seldom stop....and take advantage of every minute...however it is just very dangerous in this area...the Baptist missionary was shot not far from us... He did not leave it in the car on purpose he forgot and when I went to get it it was gone...You cannot imagine the dangers we face everyday where we work and live...
Ontem às 18:35 · Curtir · 3

Janice Alvear We are in one of the most dangerous areas however God has called us here...when we are going tonight we have to have the church locked during service it is so dangerous....but the little church will be packed out...

Ecuador Missions Sis, I am so sorry for your losses!!! We, too, can relate as you know we recently had a theft ourselves, but as you say, no one can live where we do and do the works without a call. I pray the Lord gives you back all you lost and more. He is good and faithful like that. The devil will continue to fight, for he knows we have the power to free the people of his chains and bondage, but yes, it will take so much more than that to steal our victory! I love y'all and thank you for being such a blessing to us! I pray the Lord gives you a brand new ipad, even better!:-) Love you much Sister! Hugs!

Samuel N Janice Lawrence Sis, if you are aware of the danger of the theft in that area, then I would make sure the items are with you or are secure. The Lord had made you a steward to take care of these things God has placed in your hands and many depend on you. I hope their faith is not shattered by the continuing of constant theft from your possession. May you search Gods will and seek for His wisdom in your future. God bless you in your journey. I wish you the best. Janice

Jeff Davis I usually speak my mind. But if it offends you think on this, it offends the God of heaven that people want to cast someone down instead of helping them up ESPECIALLY HIS CALLED! That is very DANGEROUS!!

Charles A Drew Sister Janice Alvear, we are in prayer for you constantly and the work of the Lord there. I have personally been to visit the area the Alvears live in......pay no attention to foolish Americans that do not know what they are talking about. You folks are great stewards of God's possessions, and are wonderful soul winners. I know because I have seen it with my own eyes......I'm sure that these folks that are chastising you on this thread, have never been where you are and they do not know. God protect you and be with you all. We love you, support you, and are praying for you !

Wendy Davis Sister,God saw the theft and he will repay. People can be so ignorant and judgmental about something they know nothing about. It could have been Gods will the money was forgotten. Who knows...If he had had it on him he could have been robbed and hurt in the process. I believe God sometimes delays us or could make us forget things for our own good. The Bible say be thankful for all things! We never know what God has kept us from by our misfortunes. BUT...Some lack that type of faith so they choose to murmur and complain. Moses was criticized as well by faithless complainers but he was very much doing what God expected him to do. God bless you!

As a missionary for over 45 years I can honestly say especially where I live I am afraid to call the police...so many are involved in crime...We live in a different world...I know those giving advice mean well but they do not know what it is like to live where we live...so different than south Brazil...We have been robbed by the "elite" and by the everyday robbers...our credit cards have been cloned...my bank card cloned...Do you know what it is like to have an educated man holding a gun on you? You may say, Sister Alvear, how do you know who is elite and who is not...well one thing by their speech! Their use of verbs and their manners...One guy called me mam and please sit down, can I get you some water?.... lol... Hitmen are real in this culture....Political crime is an everyday thing...I cannot mention name but one high official's wife came to our church for prayer her guard sat in the car with some kind of high powered rifle...(according to church kids) I SURE DID NOT LOOK IN TO SEE... Gas stations along the highways have armed guards...even on our road maps there are areas marked as High Assault rate...travel only during the day.... We go out and stay in at our own risk! You learn very fast NOT to fall in love with things....
