View Full Version : Stress = Stabbing Head Pain

Due to my TBI, I have been experiencing an increase in dizziness and head pain over the last two weeks, culminating in an ER visit last night.
After ruling out stroke and tumor, I was told that there was not much they could do for my symptoms, except issue pain killers. However, what I can do and ultimately must learn to do, is to not stress at all or as much as I can avoid it.
The Doctor asked, "Do you watch the news?"
I said, "Yes I do."
He said, "Don't do it. Their whole purpose is to get you irritated and upset so that they can make money. They will stress you out."
He asked, "Do you watch those police and court dramas?"
"Yes I do," I replied.
"Don't do it," he said. "Those shows will stress you out. You have to eliminate the stress from your life or you will be in pain and then you will die."
He was serious and I will now actively pursue a life of little to no stress.
"Good luck," said my alter ego.
Jermyn,
I have also been on a quest to lower my stress levels. That is not easy, but I do notice an actual adrenaline rush when I watch or read certain aggravating things. This is not insignificant when it comes to our health. I am trying to do less of that. I think it is actually somewhat addictive.
I just read this instead of other news. Oh, how good it is! :)

I do not watch News or Cops...or much of TV at all. No time really and no need! News is always the same, depressing and pathetic~ Cops...is always the same ... drugs, prostitutes and more garbage! The only thing I find stressful is having to deal with idiots who come in the ER and act as if they have the right to act in a disrespectful manner (cursing or name calling) bc they are sick or hurt and I am not God and cant miraculously or instantaneously "heal them"~ Being an RN in a level 3-4 Trauma Unit is V*E*R*Y stressful!!!! I hope you feel better soon J~

If you can run, I would suggest picking up an exercise routine to keep your stress level down.

ya know when I am on my break during my shift, I go up to the Gym upstairs and run a few laps around the track. It is a great stress reliever

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys.
Even in my pain last night, I was cracking jokes in the ER and in my hospital bed-- trying to keep things light, but I was really concerned that, well it doesn't matter now. I just gotta not stress and make decisions that will not accentuate any negative stress.
... like typing on AFF when I should be working.

Take a walk.
Read the Book of Psalms.
Hold a baby.
Read a Louie Lamour Sackett book.
Polish your shoes.
Eat some Blue Bell ice cream.
Ride a bike.
Kiss your wife.
Sleep a little bit late as often as you can.
Take a blanket to the park.
Stay late at church and "fellowship" with some senior saints.
:heeheehee HEY! It's a debate forum, isn't it?! :heeheehee
